  3. OK, so I succumbed to GAS after hearing other folk on here going on about the Thunder Bass. Only managed a quick muck around with it through headphones, but very happy with it, wee tone monster, and it'll be easier to plug in than unpacking the HD500x and getting that set up. Need to play with the EQ a bit more to find "the sound", but it shouldn't take too long.

  7. Depends on what you're after really, price or whatever. eBay is a good place to start, then compare prices with sites like Stringsdirect, Bassdirect, & various other name retailers.
  8. Hope none of the above are mandatory...

  10. Didn't those early 2000's MIM Jazz have the US made pickups in them? GLWTS.

  12. I think it does depend on the genre & age of the fans. Certainly, some of the more "niche" genre fans are more comfortable dealing with the band directly, as then they know that 100% of the sale is going direct to the band and not an intermediary. Stuff like merchandise, t-shirts etc. are more likely to be sold directly than via a third party. There again, these days, I would expect that a lot of people would also expect to deal with sales via Bandcamp / Spotify / iTunes etc. for music sales. IIRC, there is a part of Bandcamp where you can set up a merchandise page/link (need to remind myself of all that side of things).
  13. The bands website / Facebook page, Bandcamp, etc. Yes, from a band point of view, selling direct is quite time consuming, however, it is well worth taking a bit of time to do.

  15. Mild curve ball here, but what about something like the Hotone Thunder Bass? It's a 5w mini amp (ideal for home use) that's supposed to give an SVT-like sound, in albeit a much smaller package. Match it up to a decent cab (or headphones), ideal home rig. There are a few people on here that really like theirs. Relatively inexpensive too. 17. Yup, another tinnitus sufferer, and I regularly use headphones for practicing, and agree with the above points. Keep the volume down. Regular breaks. Comfy set of closed ear headphones.

  19. If you want parallel signal paths "on the cheap", then look at the Line6 POD HD500x. You can pick up a good one second hand for between £200-250, add about £20 for the HD Bass pack (or go the whole hog & get the HD Fully Loaded pack with loads of guitar amps/cabs). Been using one for a good few years now, really happy with the sounds I get from it, the effects are great too, plug it in to your amp's Effects Return. Add in the all the connectivity you want for the studio (Pro or Home), as well as a sturdy package that is just as happy on a stage. Yes, it's "old tech", but it still works, it still sounds great, and it's still being made & sold by Line6.
  20. As for selling it on, there seems to be a pretty good marketplace for them on Facebook & eBay.

  22. Neck pickup. Raise it up a wee bit, sorted.
