SOLD!

Beast and a bargain. Same as mine! By far and away the best jazz neck profile I've played. These also come with factory fitted US pups.
2. I like my amplug. It's one of the early Japanese made ones though. Does exactly what I think it should. Not farty at all.
3. I've found the Rane DC24 very handy for getting a BIG sound at a lower volume. Multiband compression / limiting / expanding is where it's at. Also comes in useful for tailoring to room / stage acoustics.
4.
E_D G snapped A string, so spare. That was some spot.
Done the same. Had to restring detune the D & G down to A and D. Sort of got away with it. Never again. In my defence it was a two week / three month old set of flatwounds, the previous set I'd snapped the A. Always with the A strings on TIs. Didn't cross my mind I'd developed a penchant for it...
5. I used to be in a band where we were all a bit obsessive about each others gear. I put that down to us being kids and not having much of it. Although, we've not been in a band together for 20 years, we all still know all lot of what gear we've each got now! Current band, no-one really cares so long as it sounds good. The pronouncement of a new instrument is usually met with searing ambivalence. Though we sometimes remark to each other how such an instrument or effect has impacted the sound of certain songs, I've never had that with new basses. Then again, I tend to make most of 'em sound the same. They probably all wonder to one another why I've bothered getting a new one. Amps are slightly different. Though having suffered with amps dying on stage, I think we all just get want to know if the buggers work. I did get a "Oh, you bought a tuner?" not so long ago, as though that was exotic. Although I think again that probably had a subtext of "Oh, I'll have to make sure I'm in tune with you rather than leaving it you to be in tune with me..."
6. I've never owned a Squier, I would... I just never had. I was interested in that fretless VMJ that came up the other day. I've played a couple in shops though and always thought they were ok, but nothing special. I like my hardware and my pickups. I'd end up upgrading it all. Then again, I'm probably a sucker for the badge.
7. Am going to a wedding on Sunday so can't make it.
8. Here's summa whatcha missed... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwMmt2OLRs4
9. Yep. How did this one escape my prying eyes!
10. If you remove the screws that hold the pickups in, you should be able to lift the scratch plate and pickup out at the same time, not straining the wires. I've never had a problem but perhaps the wires are bit short on yours. Best thing to fix the screw hole is wood glue and cocktail sticks. Cocktail sticks are hardwood, not soft like matches.
11. Sounds like crap to me. I've never noticed lemon oil doing anything to frets. Certainly nothing more than would happen to the them anyway, which is sorted out by polishing. I've cut a fret sized hole in a plastic business card, to protect the fretboard, and polish frets with wire wool.
12. I've had a Stones GL5 since I was 18. It's the only leather strap I've owned and It's never crossed my mind to buy another type. I've used it and abused it, it's still good as new, if not better. It's a leather strap, so durable, but also gives like a nylon strap because of the linking system, so doesn't need to be padded. Jimmy Page uses 'em for those weigh a ton Les Pauls he plays. They are back in production and can be found for about £40.
13. I couldn't care less about photos in the first instance. I'd want to see photos before parting with money, but I've not problem registering my interest on a description alone. I can't remember if I've ever posted for sale with no photos though. I would though, if it were convenient. If a buyers gonna flounce cos there ain't no photos, they're probably not gonna buy anyway... Though I'd agree photos do make the experience of the casual [s]tyre-kicker[/s] browser more wholesome. It's often not the case that two identical items are for sale at once, so why would photography increase the likelihood of sale? For that specific item, there's often no competition. Unless a buyer is looking for "a bass" or "an amp" which is unusual.
14. I have no problem with beer and work ethic. I am not a lazy drunk. Quite the opposite in fact. Alcohol can make me enthuse about allsorts that in the cold light of day, I couldn't give a toss about.
15. It's good if you like lemons. Also naptha (zippo brand lighter fuel) in preference than normal refined lighter fuel can also be useful for getting stubborn gunk out. Just got to be careful to put the removed oil back into the wood. A light scrape with a nice sharp Stanley blade can also have its place in my book.
16. Yeah Linseed is excellent for it, but doesn't smell as nice and doesn't normally come with such a handy applicator. That Dunlop 65 Lemon oil does the job easy peasy.
17. Aye, I've been using the 65 on rosewood for years. It's good stuff. Lemon Cif, or Lemon Toilet Duck is a bad idea.
18.
You're in a rehearsal to rehearse, not to drink. End of, especially if you're paying for the rehearsal space.
Jawohl mein Pengiun Kommandant.
19. Yeah, clean it with a damp cloth first, then use lemon oil sparingly once a week or so a few times in a row. The lemon oil will lift out any gunk that's sat in there by closing the grain. After that I'd just use a bit of lemon oil every 6 months or so. Leaves a little sheen so new gunk sits on top.
20. I must admit, I've always struggled with 4x10s and and 2x2x10s. The only ones I've really liked are SVT410 HLFs when used with an SVT. Very specific sound though. And bloody heavy. There are cabs available which are much easier to move and are more flexible sonically. That much is obvious.
21. Where can I hear is lasted material? Any thicker than Peaches and I'm gonna need some thinners.
