1. I'll probably see you down there. I play bass with Mr. 'Finger, but he's flyin' solo on this outing.

 3. Ok. Pics are here. Not great, but I think they show well the condition of the cab - ie, pretty much pristine. I've remembered the colour is actually cayenne.
 4.
That slope control has the ability to flatten cities!!! I thought it would be ridiculously heavy, so I'm pleasantly surprised at the weight. But then again, I haven't had to carry it anywhere yet!
I had to carry mine about 400m from the shop (luckily to the pub) when I first bought mine. Never again £580 is alright if you like it and it's in good nick. I sold mine for £450 about 3/4 years ago on here. Probably a little on the cheap side.
 5. Nice amp. I had one. It was (had gone) brown too. I seem to remember getting some joy out of the slope control. Tis a beastie. Though got a little heavy for me!
 6. Does it come with the right leads?
 7.
Where's that?
Turn right at the veggy.
 8.
Rainy Saturday morning bump. Could be willing to sell separately.
Bargains. I paid not far off £400 for an SVP-PRO Blackface earlier this year. Well worth every penny.
 9. Anything but the Brown Note.
 10.
http://www.gak.co.uk/en/vox-amplug-bass/18625
Got one of these the other week. Oddly very good.
 11.
Down, if you're still wanting the answer. In one cab I ended up turning unscrewing the socket and rotating it 180 so that the cable would go up.
Ta - just realised I've got a 4 Pole socket anyway. So all good.
 12. This fella Which direction does the wire go when it's connected? Anyone know? Cheers EDIT : A bugger it, they don't fit 2 pole sockets anyway. Why don't Neutrik make right angled 2 pole connectors. Sods.
 13.
Pretty sure it is as 8 ohm as any other 8ohm cab. Close enough for most purposes. Think it was initally a case of when you actually measure impedance, the relevant parts of the plot give it a 6 ohm rating, but many other cabs marked 8ohm are equivalent amounts different. Maybe he altered the crossover design too. I think the Fearful cabs, developed in parallel cross over at around 800hz, guess similar for this.
Ok. Cool. Thanks.
Look at post 50 on this thread
That's reassuring...
I've used mine for two years with a variety of 8-Ohm amps. Nothing has blown up yet, but give me time. A Big One will just fit on a standard Gramma Pad but you'd best not be stacking anything heavy on top of it. My Big One has to carry the band PA (in a Gator 6U rack case) plus my own amp (either an OTB or a Line 6 Lowdown in a Gator 4U rack case) so I always use a Great Gramma Pad for the added stability and peace of mind.
Only a 3u shallow SKB X series Rack. SVP-Pro, power amp and RANE DC24 Compressor/Limiter. Gramma pad is wider than The Big One, but 2cm more shallow... it's a poser.
Just out of interest which amp is it?
A Chevin A700v I've blown a few power amps in the past. It's not fun. Esp during gigs
 14. Big John just got a Big One. Got a few questions. Alex is away at the moment which is a shame... Anyone else shed any light? 1) I've found bits an' pieces saying this cab is "6 Ohm" rather than the expected 8 Ohm, because of the crossover. I'm a little concerned by this, as I'm hoping to run the cab off a amp that only goes down to 8 Ohm. 2) Does anyone know at what frequency the crossover point is? 3) Does it fit well on a standard Auralex Gramma Pad? ta for advice.
 15. I go into music shops irregularly. I expect to try all sorts of stuff I've no intention of buying. I sometimes buy stuff I had no intention of buying. I'm very respectful to the stuff, but not necessarily to the price tag. Although I don't tend to not want to try stuff I'm scared of damaging. I sometimes will cultivate a shop by chatting up the staff and visit regularly if they've got a turnover of decent stock. I often buy picks in guitar shops if I've enjoyed my time in there. Even though I don't use picks. Or other small bits of tat. I don't go in em anywhere near as much as I used to.
 16. Top 1U is a Furman Power Conditioner is it not?
 17.
Thanks for the tip. However I am struggling to find an Amp specialist around my area, nearest is London which I can't possibly get to
Tricky. It needs looking at by a tech.
 18. Fretless would be nice.
 19. I miss my Low B2s. What's different in the series 2?
 20.
I have been using an Ampeg SVT-3 for about a year now and I absolutely love it (or rather loved while it was working) however a problem has come up which has been plaguing me for a while now. It started about 6 months ago when the amp was dropped (roughly 2ft). The amp started roaring and buzzing violently at random intervals, there was also a problem with the output in that it was working seemingly at half volume. I managed to discover the root of the violent roaring (it was a damaged speaker cable, which has since been replaced) however the amp's output issue seems to persist. Also, after replacing the speaker cable, the amp has started buzzing gently which remains constant. I am unsure if this is the new lead (the lead was previously unused so I am unsure if this could be the problem) or if it has something to do with the guts of the amp. As for the output problem, when playing in my bedroom I would have the volume at 2 and it would be a decent volume to play with. Now, I need to push the gain and master knobs past the halfway mark to get the same volume. I believe that the problem could be with the capacitor, however I don't know alot about amps. If anyone could recommend me an amp repair service within the West Sussex area I would greatly appreciate it! Many thanks -Jak
Don't turn it back on until you've had someone look at it. That buzzing could be all sort of things, including DC coming out of your outputs.
 21.
In my opinion, the US pickups are better. I remember seeing a thread on here about the outputs of various Fender pickups, and the MIM was about 4.5, compared to the US 10.5. Now what that all means soundwise I couldn`t say, but my US Precisions have a much fuller sound that my MIM did. The MIM had more "in your face twang", whereas the US is much more balanced. This I also find with the other bassist in my band, whose bass is MIM. His is a twangy Precision, mine is a thuddy Precision.
Might be to do with other things. But I found my MIM was more twangy with an Original Fender pup than it was with the stock MIM with the tone rolled on - quite a bark, even with flats. Different beast with the tone rolled off (to the point of being unusable in a band setting). More bottom and more top. Great pups they are. Stock MIM was darker. I quite liked it. Output was less though.
 22.
I would suggest training your ear. Listen to the original bassline and try to play along with it. Dont rely on tabs they are a bad habit to get into.
To be fair though, if he does that, all he's doing is learning which shapes he already has fit different lines he can hear. Which is useful, and pretty much how I approached bass in the beginning. However, he's asking about learning scales and where the notes are on a fretboard. You don't learn that be playing along with stuff.
 23.
It's up to you. You sound just like me except I've been playing 35 years without a lesson or any knowledge of music theory. In fact you're ahead of me with all that major and minor pentatonic business. The main difference is I play mostly original material which means I make up the bass line and no one can say it's wrong - which is nice. Punters don't care about how much theory you know or how fast you can play, it's more important to have the right feel which comes from your heart and soul. Forget the destination, enjoy the ride and realise you're already there. Oh and practise, practise practise................
Right on!
