1. I've got the MIJ '65 reissue (bound, no blocks) in this colour scheme. Tis a lovely, lovely beast. Looks nice with blocks too. I look at Jazzes without matching headstocks and they look a bit unfinished to me now
2. A cheaper and easier way - though not quite as robust, would be to take out the screws, put wood glue on them and screw them back in. The screw holes are far tougher - and there's no real mod.
3. The trick to playing after /during a few beers is to rehearse after / during a few beers. Anything that revolves around a dexterous / repeated action is the same. I am BY FAR a better pool player when quite p!ssed. I've won a couple of a tournaments whilst happily drinking my way through 8 pints or so. I'm can be quite crap when sober - I never play the game that way.
4. I'd always thought that people complained that the hammerite one was a bit noisy. Though I've never used one so I'm not one of them. I've got blackface model and it's slightly less quiet (not noisy at all) than the SVT-IIP I a/b'd it with, but that was pretty much silent. Though I'd imagine this would vary by each unit as well as (and if at all) by model.
5. I don't really understand why gear needs to be justified. Play whatever gear gets your goat, that's what I say. Sounds like you should sell the Ric.
6.
That's cos the electrics are completely different from the MIAs. As are the woods etc. contrary to popular myth, mex bodies tend to be made of at least 4 bits, and of cheaper wood. Whether this matter to you or not is entirely subjective. You cannot set up an MIM and then call it an MIA with a different sticker made a few miles away. Because it is an entirely different beastie, £500 different? That's for you to decide...
Apart from the MIMs that are made using US electrics (I've got one and have owned another) and the MIAs that are made from the same bodies, necks and hardware as these MIMs - such as the original Highway Ones. I really can't see how they're different apart from being assembled a few miles apart. All of the MIM woods are machined and the hardware is made in the US even if they're not the same as the parts that go into US Standards. Not sure if they use cheaper alder for the MIMs, but I'd imagine you're right about the cuts. It's a bit of a minefield that one!

8.
Bump, £520670 delivered from Czech Republic to UK.
Seems a little highly priced...
9. Hiya Will, I might be interested in the rack... Not that amp unfortunately - I already have two too many... how deep is it?
10. talking of nice poweramps - here's a nice juicy Crown with a 4U ABS case that would make a very nice rig...
11. Aye - tis only a pre-amp. However - as Mr. Marsh says, it's a bloody good one. 'Tis the front end of an SVT II. Which makes it ideal if you want to get that sort of classic SVT tone without having to cart about the huge weight. Also means you've got a good slice of tone in a small and easy to manage box, easy for DI, easy for recording. And of course that you can swap out the power section of your rig to match your current cab configuration without having to learn a new amp. If you need more power - just get a bigger power amp... easy. Want a lighter rig? Get a lighter power amp - easy
12. Hello from a Crosbyite exiled in Nottingham!
13. Bump. Looks like this might have to go on ebay. Offers?
14.
Only just spotted this thread. I'd been planning to come down to the gig at The Greyhound in Beeston anyway, the involvement of a fellow BC'er is a bonus, will try to say hello John.
Please do! Should be a good laff if nothing else. Certainly our biggest date so far. Onwards and upwards!
15. US Made in 1990. Had a good thorough service about a year ago and has been spot on ever since. It's currently fitted with 3xMarshall 12AUX7. I'll also include the original SLM Hotrods which are cheeky little numbers [s]£275[/s] £250 posted I've used it for a few years as a gigging amp - it does great at that. It's lightweight considering how robust it is. It's not very deep. It's lived it's time with me racked in an SKB shallow case and there's plenty of room in behind even with that. It really comes into it's own in the studio though. Very, very quiet compared with every other pre I've used. I don't really record enough to warrant keeping it for that.
16. I bought my first two after trying them in the shop. The first was crap and the 2nd was defective. I was too inexperienced to know. I got used to the 2nd and still have it. Though it's been "fixed", I played it for years with a huge bow in the neck that it acquired through water damage at the shop I bought it from. So trying before you buy doesn't mean anything really.
17. B50 Rocketbass (1x12) They don't make em no more Luckily I have one
18. Rich is made of great stuff.
