1. Sounds like of the frets has risen. Anyone local with a fret hammer? you can buy them, cheapest off the internet, but it would probably cheaper to take it somewhere. 10 minute job.
2.
So I assume in the original deal there was cash and a Trade involved as in the scam he warned about??
I don't how the :
They don't pay you the full amount to receive the goods, then they say they'll send the trade stuff after they've received your amp
has anything to do with
this was told to me by a couple of guys who work in music stores where both have had someone attempt this recently
As though you can buy stuff in a shop part ex and then "send the trade stuff". Can't wait for Geester fill in the blanks...
3.
Going on previous posts I think some people reckon it was a pre-emptive measure. Maybe as a way to cover his own back should a thread appear. So people would think "here I remember someone saying about a scam just like this" The time line does some what iffy and IMO a bit suspicious But I guess we await Geesters reply.
Well that's kinda what I was getting at. But surely either way, it's odd. As a genuine scam warning it looks weird considering what was going on via PM, whilst as for "covering tracks" he might as well have lit a bonfire. There's gotta be more to it.
4. I don't get why Geester makes the scam post whilst in a dispute with someone over selling someone US gear whilst allowing them to think it's UK. Even if the gear works ok on 240V.
5. bargain of the week. I'd have snatched your hand off if I hadn't just bought the 1979 Blackface version that came up the other week for almost twice the price. Is it US made?
6. Not really a lot in it but I think My 60s reissue has a slightly deeper neck profile than 70s reissues I've played. Also has a bound neck - but with dots not blocks. And vintage frets.
7.
I'll take them please - PM your paypal details and I'll send the cash tonight J
Sorry mate - already sold. Nearly beat the 4 minute record set with the schaller straplocks I sold last week.
8. TI Jazz Flats JF344 Never taken out of the paper packets. £25 posted
9. Only point in creating a CD is that when people say "have you got a CD" you can say "Yes - I'll send you one", rather than "No", at which point the conversation stalls with "When you've got one, send it to me.". You're then stuck with either "Ok, bye" or "but the boys on Basschat said we wouldn't need one...". Not that anyone will actually listen to it, or sometimes even admit to having received it. But it's one less excuse for them not to book you. And recording stuff is fun and often will make you a better band. Esp when doing originals, I find they really only come into their own when the songs have been recorded and we all either change parts or stick with what it is. Before then things are subject to more changes. So yeah, it's a good idea, and something we do / I've always done in bands. But it's just one thing, it's not like you can make a CD then sit back smoking cigars waiting for the phone to ring.
10. Loz has the fastest PM in the West. Top man he is, top man.
11. Like zeeze : But in an unopened blister pack. Actually, mice have a nickel screw, not black ones, if that makes and difference to anyone. £5+ however you'd like em posted!
12. Yeah - sorry. £40 posted. Written whilst having drank too much wine!
13. 3 Matched ECC83/12AX7 Harma Retro Cryo From Watford Valves. In a nice Watford Valves box! Like these. Used a bit - but not that much - in an SVT IIP preamp. I bought them to see if there was much difference between them and the stock Hotrods. There is - but they don't break up quite as easy. As such they've sat in a drawer for 2/3 years. [s]£35 posted.[/s] Sold
14.
Like most things I've found that learning by ear gets easier with practise. After a while you will be able to hear a note and know where it is on the fretboard without having to noodle around to find the right one
Aye. Like all skills, you need to practice it. I practice it by playing along with the radio. Preferably to songs I've not heard before / don't know and in the comfort and privacy with no one listening. The cat is my judge. It doesn't take long before you start to recognise some guitar chords and notes. Especially the common ones and their progressions.
15. Always had good fun buying and selling on BC.
16. Don't think Dave does these any more. Probably as they're too cheap! I've only used this pedal about 5-10 times. I bought it so bring some valve overdrive into my sound but then shortly after bought an Ampeg SVT-II preamp so became pretty redundant. Therefore it's in excellent condition. Me not using it is not a slight on it at all! it's just that I don't really do pedals. Does gentle valve warmth to quite an aggressive OD. It also works well with guitar. As Dave Hall himself vouches. Lights up a nice blue colour when engaged. Was made in May 2008. No PSU I'm afraid. I'm looking for £60. Offers? A bargain for a boutique and already classic pedal.
