Give in.... sounds fine to me
It comes in about 1/2 a beat early! It sounds like one of the toms has been cut out too. Very odd. It's like a production rather than playing cock-up.

It's just a matter of getting a feel for how each other play, and where each of you likes to put accents and emphasis. First thing though is to get tight on that bass drum. I find the sooner I get that with a drummer, the quicker everything else follows on.
if i sort this gibson les paul bass, i think my other half will chop my cock off when she finds out...so, cock or bass...?
I think I'd like to keep my cock.
I've got a heavy set of la bella flatwound strings that have been on a 5 string musicman anyone want to swap for a set of Thomastic Infield Flats even the four string set would do.
Hiya, I'm not really up for swapping, but I'm interested to know why you prefer the TIs? I've been using them for a few years now and have been thinking about trying a set of la bellas next time I get some strings (probably in a few years time )

The whole point of paypal should be to ease transactions over the net between buyers and sellers who don't have access to merchant credit card services. Their massive turnover should allow them to absorb the kind of fraud they're supposedly responding too in this situation. That's what their business model should be (and has been) based on - ease of use leading to higher and higher turnover. This just smacks of greed. Paypal's just holding money and scoring interest on it.

Worth changing drivers from 8 Ohm to 4 Ohm to get more power?
bigjohn replied to richrips's topic in Amps and Cabs
I've expired a class D amp before. It didn't clip. , well I didn't hear it clip. It just got quieter and quieter until it would barely frighten a mouse. -
I think we tend to overestimate the amount of power we need.
There's definitely some of that going on... I've played pub gigs with 100W amps before... I've played with drummers (using brushes) easy with 50W amps. The difference is though - I have to EQ an amp like that to get it to sound loud enough. But with a big rig, I EQ to get the tone I want then turn it up until it's loud enough. I'm sure I could play a big pub with a 400W amp. It might not sound exactly like I'd want it to, but it would certainly be loud enough.

Uh oh! Laura broke the Bass...

This is yer fella... switchcraft mono jack Have you got a soldering iron? If you're gonna spray it, you need to sand it down first. But there's plenty on here who know a lot more about that than me. I did once spray a bass with car paint but I did an absolutely sh!t job of it. Softer strings? I use flatwounds, which are much less abrasive on the fingers, but soundwise, they're not to everyone's taste. They sound duller, less zingy. -
Soz she's your wife. I'd be outta there quicker than a cat on a hot tin roof. And not because I'd choose playing bass over her. I'd choose eating my toenails over her if she told me to choose. Not that I do eat my toenails, but in that situation, I'd probably start. Then again, I'm hardly a role model...
Use two. Reverse polarity and facing each other. Although I think the fans are made to only turn one way. Just like isobaric speakers. Shoot up the fan diameter. This might help somewhere.
Good idea, BUT... there aint enough room in the back for 2. And 2 would be twice as loud (well perhaps not twice but...) I've spoken to the fella I take my broken amps to... . He says stick a regulator in there. And he'll do it for me the kind chap he is. All good.

1u, light & powerful = expensive. Putting a pre-amp into a 1u digital power amp and out into full range (acme) speakers resulted in a very expensive and very short gig for me once. If I did it again I'd only do a Powersoft amp. They're the only amps of this size that seem like they're actually fit for purpose (as a bass power amp). Either that or use a crossover to stop it overheating. I'd much rather carry the extra 1u space, mosfets and 7kg of my current 2u amp. Much cheaper And sounds better.

They sound interesting, but I can't find any! I'd like one of these I think... but it's only rated up to 13v. I reckon there's got to be a way. This fan actually comes resistive adapters to lower the voltage > rpm > noise, but 24v is outside of their scope innit.
-
Probably better getting a 24v fan with less noise, for computers, best is probably find a PC techy forum and see what they suggest.
I've had a look about. All the PC ones I've found with lower db levels are 12v. Its got one these in at the moment... papst 8414 and supposedly they're quiet @ 35dba. I'll have another scout. Ta.

Has anyone ever replaced a 24V fan with a 12V fan, perhaps using a resistor? I'm thinking there are 12v fans with much lower noise than there is in the back of my amp, with similar airflow flow ratings.

I'd assume the "high" would mean high gain, which is what you'd want for a passive bass anyway... Hi / Low / Active / passive whatever, it's just that one or the other has a resistor wired into it to stop hotter signals overdriving the preamp. I bet it'd tell you in the manual which one is which.

If you're after an Ampeg that fits in at home and is capable of the drummer thing... keep and eye out for a B100R. The B series Rocket combos are much better than the BAs. there's one on ebay at the moment... although I reckon that's a little (only a little) over priced for what is probably a chinese version... I use one quite a lot at our studio. They're excellent! I've also got a b50R - which is a 12" and no valve pre - but that's great too. There's a good video on youtube comparing the b100r with a vintage b15n - but I can't find it.
