1. Where are you based?
 2.
Are there any pedals you use regularly that you actually prefer the tone to over your clean sound? I'm yet to discover another since selling my MXR M80 (rather foolishly) a couple years ago. I'm thinking things along the lines of compressors or EQ pedals will be common answers but how about a reverb pedal you just can't switch off?? Curious to know what is highly rated by individuals on here =] Any examples of them in use would be interesting too...
I've tried hordes of pedals over the years but still prefer the sound without. Apart from a tuner, that is. I've never found a compressor that doesn't squash the dynamics, despite what they claim. Best pedal I ever used was an Akai Deep Impact. I regret getting rid because they're worth a fortune, but I have no need for one at the moment.
 3.
If youve played it thousands of times its been good to you and probably paid for the bass your playing it with!!
Good point.
 4. Fantastic instruments, in the right hands, of course. Unfortunately my chubby digits can only cope with 5 strings at most. Good luck with the sale.
 5.
Mustang Sally's crap? I can only think that you've never played it properly! You've all listed some great songs. I'd love to play any of them as long as they're played well, but I don't like playing ANTHING if it's played badly.
'Mustang Sally' is a great song? The jury's out on that one. I have to admit that although I've played that song, it's only been about a hundred times, so I've actually enjoyed it...unlike some of our poor members who've probably played it thousands of times and want to wring its bloody neck.
 6.
If it's the latest ad I think it's Cheryl Lynn - Got To Be Real
Yep, certainly is.
 7.
0.39- Keith Lemon on drums?
8.
Some Maze gems
Maze...what a band, and what a voice! 'Back In Stride' is amazing. The bassist really nails the groove. Thanks for posting.
 9.
I've had to cringe my way through that too in a past depping job. I have a "worm sandwich list". ie I'd rather eat one than play again... All of the above with mustang Sally, Stuck in The Middle and Brown Eyed Girl right up there. Now Hi Ho Silver Lining and Alright Now fall in to an even worse category. They're in the "I'd rather set my hair on fire and beat it out with a shovel" list. Alternatively I'd leave the band before playing either of those. What's the problem with Boston Rag Pete? Seen you do it at The Jazz Cafe a while back. It didn't show.
It's a great song, but far from my favourite. I always give it 100% though.
 10.
I'm sick of them, but I don't keep it a secret; Mustang Sally Sweet Home Alabama Saw Her Standing There
Yep.
 11. This thread isn't just aimed at cover bands. There might be original material you're sick of playing.
 12. For me it's 'Boston Rag'. Thankfully we have dropped it (for now). I would guess 'Mustang Sally' would be high on the list? I'm curious to know what songs you hate in your set list but never want to admit to the band.
 13. A great song by more masters of groove: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km4-eKvv3EM
 14. Seems to be a lot of Stingrays for sale at the moment. I've had interest from a European buyer but I'd rather sell it over here.
 15.
I did name them.......... Apparently the humour got lost somewhere
I hadn't heard of Square Deal Music before.
 16.
The annual Nantwich Jazz and Blues Festival starts tomorrow and runs through to Bank Holiday Monday. Tons of live music going on throughout, all day, every day. Nearly Dan play a double-bill with Rumours Of Fleetwood Mac on Monday evening at Nantwich Civic Hahh. www.nantwichjazz.com
Less than 50 tickets left for this gig, if anyone's remotely interested.
 17.
Which one did he get? The black one with a maple fretboard was stunning!
She got the natural flame maple top.
 18. A friend of mine popped into Bass Direct yesterday for a look round and came out with a Roscoe CS4. It is indeed a dangerous place for the GAS-afflicted.
 19.
Under pressure from their label, Doddy's band debuted their new 'image' with mixed feelings.
20.
Oh, have we had this one ? or Also love the Incognito version with the fab. Jocelyn Brown. I won't embed this, but just found a relatively recent live performance from Ronnie Laws at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Vyf4wxNsqQ I had the pleasure of seeing this guy live. Absolutely fantastic. Oh, what the hell - whilst I'm on the Ronnie Laws kick check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmDBDcvPcEM and great laid back groove.
First saw Ronnie Laws in 1979. Love his stuff.
 21. The music starts at just over 4 mins if you don't want to listen to the interviews. The amazing thing for me is their sense of time...it's so perfect. Also, I really think Vic excels here. I can't imagine this working without his impeccable technique and groove skills. It's not everybody's cup of tea, but I just wanted to show an example of how powerful and versatile the bass can be.
 22. This a clip of Stanley, Victor and Marcus being interviewed and playing the SMV track 'Thunder'. Yes, I'm expecting the usual 'fretw***ing' comments, but you can't deny the sheer musicianship, groove, and the fact that you don't notice there isn't a drummer. This is three musicians at the absolute top of their game, and testament to how great the bass guitar really is. In my opinion, of course. 23. Apologies if I've posted this previously, but this is a sublime groove: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDtONZHSgFY So is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9mqROvyB3o
 24.
This has probably been mentioned already, but it's ace........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kC4XKk5V8lw I'm really digging this track at the moment. In fact,I'm digging the whole album.............. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRL6KEGLAGE And just for something a bit different.............. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0ISF95axZQ
Bloody hell, that Sunlightsquare track is good. You kept that one quiet. Lend it to me...now!
 25. I sell instruments, so I play at the shop, but rarely at home. I struggle to practise at all though, as I'm sick of seeing the things.
