Totally agree with you. When I started the post I invited grooves of any genre whatsoever. I personally love funk, hence my choices, but let's see some more obscure examples.

Where Have All The Beer Crates Gone?
Pete Academy replied to Pete Academy's topic in General Discussion
Again, thanks for the suggestions. I looked at a Quiklok mixer stand today that was perfect - right height and everything, and I can buy it at trade price. I don't want to swap my gear, as I'm really happy with the sound. The in-ear monitor option looks tempting. I'll talk to our engineer about it...he's a sound guy. <pun intended> -

Again some great suggestions. Will ponder them this week. Much appreciated. -
Can't even remember if this went on before, but it has the best bass break EVER on record. And it's virtually impossible to recreate IMO. Classic! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EvWkUuALGg
:-( Stop doing this to me lol. Can i ask what the width dimensions are at the nut and 12th fret? I'd like to gauge how the neck will feel. I have no experience with any other MM bass so i don't know what normal is for these basses. Cheers.
This is what the Ernie Ball website says: 1-5/8" (41.3 mm) at nut 2-1/2" (63.5 mm) at last fret
'Same here. Cramped stages... My right ear no longer hears mids very well. -------- All you younger players out there would do well to invest in good hearing protection--seriously. Hearing Loss and Ear Plugs Also: the relevant link in my signature.
I strongly agree with this. I can guarantee your hearing will be f***ed in years to come. I hate wearing plugs, but for anyone who also does so, we've just taken stock of some plugs that work in a different way. Rather than block all the sound, they only work when a very loud sound is inputted, and then close during that time. I haven't tried them yet but will report as and when. Will post a link later. -
Have you visited an audiologist? Excess ear wax (which absorbs the mids our ears are most sensitive to) is produced in response to prolonged exposure to LOUD sounds. As well, most bass cabs are rather directional in the upper midrange and highs anyhow. I once installed Fender Twin Reverb tilt-back legs on a 15" TL cab so that I could better hear the fretless P I was gigging at the time.
I've had my ears tested a few times and they reckon it's not wax but damage due to years of being pummelled by extreme noise, especially standing next to cymbals. I've considered digital hearing aids but they are a bit pricey for me at the mo. -
How about one of these. I have one which used to support the very heavy synth and sampler rack for a previous band. Fantastically strong and well made, not cheap but worth every penny.
I'm liking that! Used to sell loads of their brass and woodwind stands in a previous shop - great quality. Will check it out tomorrow. Cheers. -

I love those cabs. Can't imagine how well the new 4 x 8" will sound. -
Here's my attempt at it: Listen out for the clanger in the second chorus! F# instead of F
Excellent.
Saw a band a while ago where the bass player used a black and decker workmate thingy to raise his amp with. Didn't look great, but I suppose you could cover it with something. Spoke to the guy and he'd had the same issue with loss of top end before using it.
Cheers. If the cab is too low, I just hear the low end and not the note definition. Any beginners out there, get some earplugs. You be thankful in years to come. -
Rest my thumb against the body, hence the 'crater' in my old Tobias.
-
Oops sorry! Didn't realise you said full-bodied. They usually fit into guitar gig bags.
-
There's a Hohner gig bag at $39.95 on here. http://www.edroman.com/guitars/steinberger...uitar_cases.htm Might work out OK if shipping isn't too much.
Could you raise one of your cabs on a stand? Here's a cheap one that goes quite high: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Amp-Stand-Foldable-A...=item2c4dac0545 I have a similar one which is more adjustable, i need it to be horizontal to put a head on top: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Guitar-combo-amp-equ...=item5886459b12
Good suggestions. I've looked at amp stands but the cabs are pretty deep. I'll take another look. Thanks for that. -
Never thought about it before but you're absolutely right! How do people paint their ceilings, trim tall bushes and put the fairy on their Christmas trees nowadays? And what are kids throwing into canals and rivers for fun these days?
-
A bit obvious but don't you carry any flightcases with you? That’s what our guitarist puts his 4x12 on to ensure that he can hear himself (along with everyone in the room / town)!
Don't carry flightcases, Pete. -
