1. You can purchase special stick-on patches at www.i'maddictedtobasschat.com Not guaranteed to work, though.
2. What's the headstock look like? Looks like an Alembic rip-off by some obscure Jap company.
3. Pics coming soon.
4. Yes, there's gas in the car...
5. Shameless publicity-seeking bump.
6.
Yes, but no, not really. They were made up until 1998. The earlier ones are definitely better, though, IMHO. Good luck with the sale! LRH
To be honest, I've seen very few people using them lately. There was one I saw that sold in Europe for 2200 euros. It was in better nick than mine and was totally original, but the serial number was in the 1300s. That's what makes me think mine is just as valuable. If I can't get near that amount or swap it for a nice Jazz, I'll keep hold of it. Thanks for the info.
7.
Dear Points Of View... why, oh why, oh why do people always pidgeonhole Steinbergers as "80's basses"?? I might be interested if you're including a mullet wig and a pair of legwarmers in the sale, though... Another Steinberger owner P.S. You could try posting on the Steinbergerworld group on Yahoo, or the much-maligned eBay, of course - I sold an L2 on there not long ago. You should still get at least 1500, as long as you're willing to ship to Europe.
Mmm...well I thought the clue was in the year, as in 1983. No? I might try eBay. Cheers.
8.
Interesting thread. With these few gigs done with the band I am not surprised there were a few bum notes. My opinion is that gigging is the only way to get tight as a band. If you are doing only the odd gig then there will be times when it all goes off a bit. Even with lots of rehearsal ( which there was not in this case ). Everyone makes the odd mistake and to be honest most of the audience would not know anyhow! The next one will be a stormer I`ll bet. Bob
Absolutely spot on. I don't normally practise, as we gig quite frequently. However, I definitely would if we had a fairly long lay off.
9. I've been considering selling my 1983 Steinberger L2, serial number 610. Steinberger sticker logo (not stamped) and push-in knee rest. I changed the single tone pot for an EMG bass/treble active stacked and have unfortunately lost the original pot and knob. It's well gigged. This bass is the actual one featured in the Tony Bacon 'Ultimate Guitar Book', as I loaned them the instrument for it. I was hoping for a couple of grand, but that might be a bit optimistic in the current economic climate. I would consider a swap for a nice 70s Jazz, preferably maple neck with pearl block inlays. If anyone is remotely interested, I can put pics up. 80s covers band anyone?
10. It dispels the myth that Jacko wasn't really ready to do the gig. Looks like a massive amount of pre-production work had already gone into the show. Whatever meds were supporting him, he obviously still has it. Despite the accusations and madness, he was still one the best entertainers on the planet. And those female dancers...
11. Apart from Stevie Wonder's, I would say that for a musician that was one of the best gigs on the planet.
12. Searched for two years for a MM 5. Found the perfect one on my doorstep, right money. Sold it to buy a MM Bongo 5. Regretted it ever since. The Bongo was a huge mistake. Mid-life crisis. I regretted selling my Alembic 20 Anniversary, too.
13. Jonathan Moffett? Crap???
14.
I think it's a great dvd. The only thing that I don't lie is Alex Al's popped note in the beat it riff-it doesn't work for me. Otherwise he plays great,as does the whole band. Oh yeah......... Orianthi is hot.
Agreed on both counts.
15. I've just watched 'This Is It' in it's entirety. What a film? And what a concert that would have been! Any comments?
16. Changing gear that you're used to is always a daunting task. You need to be patient and experiment with your EQ at different gigs. Maybe the venue wasn't ideal acoustically. Our guitarist plays bass and he has recently bought a Markbass rig - LMK head and 2 x New Yorker 406 cabs. He was previously used to a couple of Peavey 2 x 10" cabs. At first he thought he might have made a mistake, but after a few gigs he's happy with the choice. Persevere a bit longer before you give up on the new rig.
17. I now use one of these, purchased from my very good friend, Dodgnofski. Highly recommended.
18.
I recognise the shiny head of Mr Hargreaves there
Can't remember, Jake...I was asleep during the whole of that gig. BTW, have you heard or seen him on the Wogan Show?
19.
I disagree......... Pete looks nothing like Eva Longoria
20.
Guys, thank you, I feel a little bit better about it now. Getting into perspective. To answer Pete Academy, we gig erratically, one year we may do twenty or thirty, another we might do five. It all depends on Transglobal's tour schedule, ie. if they're touring we can't play. This was the first Krupa gig in over a year and the third with Doreen in 12 months. No rehearsal apart from a couple of hours with Krupa the night before. Thanks Jack, for the nice words, very comforting
If that's the case, to err is only human. I sometimes cock up, but that's when I'm usually dreaming about MILFs.
21. Nearly Dan play The New Roscoe in Leeds on Sunday 7 March.
22. What rig has been replaced by the TC?
23.
Hey hang on ...
In my dreams.
