1. The Crusaders featuring the amazing 'Pops' Popwell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWPjKDObcIo The great Mark Adams...what a sound! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5KyBwSiQTc A different side to Cameo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkDmZCsX2v4 One of the funkiest ever Commodores tracks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MnALKESJGA Classic jazz-funk from Azymuth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjEXjy8thGM
2. Wow, these tunes take me back! Superb choices.
3. Photos tomorrow, hopefully!
4.
There was a thread a while back that mentioned these... cant find it though €84 (about 75 quid?) seems a leetle steep for a block of wood with strings and a couple of frets. Why not make your own? or look for a cheap crappy bass, rip off the head and most of the body to make a steinbergeresque shape then you can practice fretting in the bus too. I'm usually driving and do the tappety tap on the wheel, but I tend to do the pianist finger warm up exercises rather than drum patters as I can do them without thinking too hard about it and your fingers are lovely and supple and ready to go after about 5 mins.
I do enough fretting as it is.
5. Looks like an old Antoria or Columbus.

7. I want to sell my USA Tobias Classic 5. I'm reluctant to do so, but I want to buy some new cabs. It's about 15 years old, well gigged. A deep ding in the top of the neck, a small crater where I've rested my thumb, and well-tarnished bridge due to years of toil and sweat. Beautiful unlacquered lacewood top (looks like lizard skin), alder back, sandwiching a wenge plate. Pau ferro fingerboard, flamed maple neck. £1000...no offers. I can get photos if anyone's really interested.
8. Anybody out there?
9. BTW, where did you read that quote? Mark Adams is one of my favourite players.
10. It's one of those things I've done since the beginning of time but never really known what it's called. I presume playing two notes at once?
11.
Why not do what we all do, and play along on the steering wheel whilst "inadvertently" tapping out drum pattens occasionally during song.
I would, but there's no steering wheel at the back of the minbus.
12. I've been thinking about buying one of these: http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl...icker%26hl%3Den On longer journeys to gigs I reckon I could be warmed up by the time I get there. Anyone tried/tested/bought one of these?
13. When I was a young whipperslapper, this track melted many a stylus. One of the best parts you'll ever hear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7k-7cZOfdE
14. Love that Vibraphonic track.
15. The Crazy Penis track sounds like a sample version of this track by MFSB, one of my all-time faves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7k-7cZOfdE
16. My bass strings cost more than my car.
17.
Depends on the gig and if I'm really into it at the time. Sometimes it's a simple knee lift or head bob-other times it can be full on making shapes.
You? Making shapes?

19. I'd love to perfect my dance moves but the requisite 1 square foot of onstage space I get (if I'm lucky) prevents me from doing so.
20. Great choices! The bass part on 'Wicki Wacki' is one of the most fiendishly catchy in history.
21.
When you say "this"... is that an anagram?
22. I would seriously advise anyone to check this player/band out. You will not be disappointed.
23. At last! Someone else who appreciates Mark Adams! Slave were a huge part of my bass upbringing. Marks's sound was huge, and IMO was the finest bass sound of the era. I think that when he turned to an Alembic he really found his signature sound. It's really hard to describe, but absolutely dominated the mix. A great player.
