1. It's tough being one of the world's greatest bass players.
2. I love Billy Sheehan but I find over long two-handed tapping boring. The ancient footage of him soloing forever with Talas is mind numbing. Yet he rarely gets a mention on here. It seems Wooten bashing is an Olympic sport on Basschat.
3.
I've checked these out to. Great cabs for the money. However I would reccomend the 110 MiBass cab @ 4 ohms. Again 250 watts. When using with somehting like a Little Mark 250. Produces a much tighter sound! J
I've just tried the 110 cab and its brilliant. Very punchy for its size and great value at 199.
4. Victor is a genius. Ignore the YouTube/trade show stuff. He's always been pigeonholed on this forum as a one-trick pony, who just slaps at 100mph. Listen to his other playing and teaching
5. Decades ago, singers had to nail the songs, and musicians too. No autotune. I've done recordings for people where, despite me wanting to nail a track, they have insisted there is no point, as they can fix any timing issues later. Has technology turned musicians and singers into being lazy? If you are going into a studio to record, would you think it wasn't necessary to play your part proficiently, as they can fix it later?
6. I tried one in our shop. It was crap with bass. The Digitech Whammy DT claims to work for bass.
7. What did you think of the band tonight? I was playing bass with them. Oops, sorry...
8. This is a common problem, especially faced with a paying audience instead of an empty rehearsal room. It's all about confidence. Over fifteen years I've played the same songs hundreds of times. Yet, recently I messed up on a couple of songs and it spooked for quite a few gigs. It's a relaxation thing. Don't worry about it...it will right itself.
9. This is a subject that will no doubt cause some controversy, John. Personally, I prefer vocals to be performed live and in tune. However, if I was in a duo that relied on making a living, I would probably consider using this technology. I hate the fact that most people going to watch a mainstream pop act are paying to see a mimed or autotuned show.
10. To be honest, I don't care about how the lyrical content should be expressed, or whatever. For me it was really funky and the bass playing is great. I just enjoyed it as a piece of music.
11. We have decided to resurrect a song that we haven't played for over five years. Whenever this happens I expect to spend hours re-learning it. However, as soon as I started playing along to the track, it all came flooding back,.and I nailed it no time. Anyone else found this has happened?
12. I've just listened a very funky version of Eleanor Rigby by Billy Lee, featuring Victor Wooten on bass. The bass playing is great, as is the bass part. I can't find the track on Youtube, but if you've got Spotify you can hear it on there.
13. I've just come in on this post and haven't had chance to read everything. I always stand at the back of the stage by the drummer, and right on top of my rig. However, years' ago at one particular gig, I was forced to stand right at the front next to the singer. Being out of my comfort zone was immensely unnerving. When I play gigs I usually focus on someone who is enjoying the show, and that seems to help. Plus a couple of lagers, of course.
14. That would be great, mate.
15. Nearly Dan play the Floral Pavillion in New Brighton on Saturday 6 October.
16. I'm trying on a gig next Saturday, so I'll be able to tell more then. However, I think it's the eq system that really makes this pedal work.
17.

Sublime
18. Received it this morning. I tried it with a Squier Jazz at our shop and it instantly made it sound like a much more expensive bass. I don't really like compression, but this works really well, as well as turbo boosting the sound. Will use it at my next gig with the Roscoe.
19. My local Smiths don't stock it anymore. The latest issue has a Marcus interview, but I'm not too bothered. Far too many adverts has messed it up.
20. Should receive it tomorrow, so will report my opinion.
21. I've taken the plunge and ordered one.
22. Thanks for the comments. Looks like a purchase is coming up.
23. He did a tuition video in the 80s. Great playing, but looks extremely drugged/coked up.
