2.
I'm planning on being there Pete, being a home gig for me.
Let me know how many guests, mate.

    Nearly Dan

  4. Get the LM2. No competition.
  5.
Having met the man in question a couple of times (and he is a really nice guy, too), whether or not you like what he does, he did do one thing. He made a whole generation of bass players work hard to try and emulate him. None of this current day instant gratification nonsense, just pure hard practise to achieve something and become better bass players. Whether you're a simplistic root note rock music plodder or a jazz/funk twiddler, players like Mark King are and should be considered as a welcome inspiration to us all.
Great reply.
  6.
Oh well, at least it was more original than Free Beer. I clicked and I live in Devon, how sad is that!
Now THAT'S desperate!
  7. I'd just like to add, the Classic Vibe instruments are up there with the original Squiers of yesteryear in terms of quality and sound.
  8. We had one delivered to our shop today. I'm pleased to say it's really nice. Looks, plays and sounds great. You would not believe this is an Indonesian-made Squier. Well worth checking out.
  9. That's a serious bargain.
  10.
A few times. Here's one... It never bothers me, to be honest... apart from this one, when the camera was right up against my nose:
Good stuff!
  11. You can have mine, unused, for twenty quid.
  12. Is that Zender Warwick a tad overpriced?
  13.
I played on TV in the early to mid 90s and that was a strange but excellent experience. I now routinely film gigs on a camcorder and it's an interesting way to iron out mistakes and improve performance. Are you using your footage for anything special?
Errr...don't tell Bilbo, but we're making a DVD. It was filmed at the Stables in Milton Keynes and recorded on 24-track audio.
  14. We had a gig professionally filmed last night. I've played the set a million times, but as soon as I knew the cameras were rolling, b@llocks starting dropping. Anyone else suffered this?
  15. I actually have a bit of a phobia of open strings. I will avoid them whenever I can and do ridiiculous stretches that my small hands can barely cope with.
  16.
Maybe it was the infamous "Glasgow hiss"?
17.
sorry but we have to tell it like it is. If it's great we will say so, if not we'll say that. The thing is we all want a great bass mag, but my reading of the thread suggests improvements have been made, but we are still a fair way from great.
What's the alternative? I think you're asking too much.
  18. I haven't been following this thread lately, but I've just received my BGM in the post today. BGM should stand for Bloody Great Mag. I'm only a few pages in and it's already far more interesting than Bass Player. No more knocking this mag, folks....please?
  19.
Hi Pete, I've had a thought - the amp is probably 'complaining' because you are playing too many notes & Fagen 'Mu major' patterns through it ! I never had a problem playing 'dum - de - dum - de - dum' through it, apart from it falling asleep through boredom ! Only joking me owd fruit - hope you've got it sorted, as I'm just about to trade your 12 month guarantee for an F1 All the best, dodger x x
You could be right. Now you've got me thinking about those Aguilar cabs.
  20. Helps if you paste the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDtONZHSgFY
  21. From 'Two Against Nature', this is Steely Dan's live version. We covered this a couple of years ago. Took me ages to nail the part, then we played it for about five bloody minutes!
  22.
Can't wait
Well, you'll just have to wait until December 24th when Santa delivers it to you.
