1. Used to sell these in the 80s...legend!
2. For anyone who's interested, I'm happy to report that the 12" version is awesome. The bass end is amazing for a 12.
3. Certain strings have more or less tension than others, but it generally relates to nylon strings. It's probably the string gauge she's struggling with. Let me know how you get on.
4. I've been an Incognito fan for years but never had the chance to see them live. Pity about the sound...cue 'Sound Engineer' thread.
5. I would guess the guitar came strung with 12s. I would try a decent quality set of 10s or 11s.
6. What do you mean by high tension? Is it nylon strung or steel? Do you mean the action is too high, or the strings are too heavy a gauge?
7. And what a sound!
8. Good ole YouTube!
9.
Pardon my ignorance, but what does it do? And why are they so sought after? BB
IMO the only bass synth pedal that actually worked (although yet to heard the MarkBass one).
10. I must admit there are times when I envy people who can do a show gig by reading the dots. In our band the brass players read, but sometimes get pretty much dependent on the dots. I can hear something and pretty much play it straight away, unless it's something complex. I've 'written/composed' and recorded my own music in the past, too. Like BBC I just don't have the time and inclination to start learning, these days.
11. I part-exed mine years' ago for £50.
12. As a fairly new BC member, forgive me if this has been discussed before, but how many of you read music? Do the one's that don't feel it's hindered you? I can't read a note.
13.
And here they are a bit less but the prices do seem strong when you consider how similar they are to a standard Euro 4LX.
That's exactly what I thought.
14. I've just seen the review of the new Spector Doug Wimbish signature bass in BGM. Looks a great bass, but how much?! £2400 for a Czech-made instrument? No disrespect to the makers but I paid a bit less for my Roscoe SKB-5 (OK, the pound/dollar rate was a bit better) hand-built in the USA, and with a much higher spec. Imagine a UK-built custom bass you could get for that price.
15. Started messing about on my brother's acoustic guitar when I was about 14 or 15. He came home one day with a ten quid Vox bass and I started playing from then on. Hadn't even thought about playing one before that, so wasn't influenced by anyone.
16. Wow, that's some piece of kit!
17. The venue should be boycotted.
18. Not forgetting Cuff McKagan.
19. I reckon everything was bought from Cliff BURTONS.
20. Not forgetting their drummer, Vinnie Collar-uta.
21.
You mean Victor Mittens friend?
Wasn't it Jacket Pastorius?
22. Back then I bought one of these. It cost me £225, and I thought it was amazing. I bought the percussion machine that synced with it. Nearly five hundred quid for about 30 sounds! It's probably worth £45 as a collectible. <sigh> Those were the days.
23.
Used to be the finger double in Deep Purple for those close ups
24. It's obvious the players he's influenced.
