1. Great stuff, Alex.
2. A few bass notes, a lot of groove... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkVLS6muw1k
3. This showcases the bass guitar as the ultimate instrument. Great playing. http://www.notreble.com/buzz/2012/01/27/armin-metz-sanskar-valley-solo-bass-performance/
4. I try to ensure every bass plays as comfortably as possible. I think it would put most customers off if the bass played badly, high action etc. The problem with new stock is that the necks are constantly settling in, so will undoubtedly move with varying temperatures in the shop.
5. I always stock flats. Used to sell rotos but now sell picatos at around twenty quid. Very good strings.
6. I'll keep a look out mate. Absolute twats.
7. I really want to punch this guy.
8. If you want to see a truly sh*t 80s video, check out Jeff Berlin.
9.
I actually think I owe quite a lot to Chuck Rainey. I've spent pretty much my whole life listening to him, being inspired by him, both directly as a bass player and by the music that he has contributed to. He's not only been a tremendous musician that enjoy listening to, but he's also been an absolutely huge influence on my development as a bass player. In fact, I would directly credit him for making me a better musician. And as a full time working musician, i.e. someone that makes their money solely from the music I perform, that means that financial aid is quite literally the least I can do for an old man who has sadly been taken ill and is no longer able to play music and make money for himself. I'm very much indebted to him. And there are some truly miserable people on this site.
I would have to agree with this post. I have spent the last 15 years playing his amazing bass lines.
10. Great stuff. Amazing tone.
11.
just for those who may not have heard it.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WEazpFaAOY
Brilliant
12. This gig has been cancelled and rescheduled for March.
13.
If you had seen the Expert Village lessons on slap you wouldn't be saying that!
Sorry Chris, but I don't see how that can be anything but the thing that annoys the anti-slap brigade.
14. Nearly Dan play the Citadel in St Helens this Saturday 28 Jan.
15. Thanks for the comments. He went for the bare knuckles.
16. Bill Oddie at the Jazz Cafe a few years ago.
17. A customer of mine has a Mex Fender Jazz fitted with an East Retro preamp. He played someone's 1970s Jazz and was blown away by the sound. He's thinking of replacing the pickups on his Jazz to get a similar sound and has narrowed choices to Bare Knuckle PE series or Seymour Duncan Antiquity. Anyone used these pickups before?
18. Probably the most pointless lesson ever.
19. Another last minute shameless bump.
20.
Pete, have a cracking gig mate! I can't make it this time
Cheers mate...I see you're playing the night before. Have a good one.
21. Reminder for this gig.
22. Great playing and tone. Top class.
