1. It was a bit swamped with bass synth before.
2. My 79 Jazz straight into the desk and into an Ampeg plugin. Bass riff more prominent than last time. https://rcpt.yousendit.com/1114096497/91e5d...ec931f0f0bc92a6
3.
Pete, did you enter the gigs into the BassChat calendar? I set up a thread about this (its one of the pinned ones in the Gigs section). If you enter you gigs, all gigs in the next 5 days appear automatically at the bottom eof the BassChat home page, just below birthdays. For example if you scroll down you'll see Nigel/silddx' band Krupa are playing today.
Didn't know about that, mate. Thanks for that.
4.
Currently the gigs section goes back 10 days on page one. I think it is a case of people just not looking - I was well aware you were playing up in Scotland - bit of a trek from West Sussex!! Just one of those facts of life Pete that a huge number of people need things thrust under their noses before they take notice.
Fair point.
5.
What about having sub forums in the gigs forum for different areas? Then people could check gigs in their area more easily and they wouldn't disappear so quickly because there'd be less "competition".
Good idea.
6.
Would making the Gigs thread a "stickie" make sense, or am I talking total rubbish?
Makes sense. I just think it would help keep people more aware of Basschatters' gigs.
7. I noticed on a recent thread I posted on 'Gigs' regarding dates in Scotland that some people missed it and might have gone to the gigs if they'd seen it. The posts disappear quite quickly, and it feels a bit daft to keep bumping them up all the time. Could there be a way of keeping the gigs thread more visible automatically? Just a thought...
8.
Very cool indeed, you're in a club with Jimmy Haslip!
And me!
9. Thanks for the comments. Great to meet Jambo and Jennifer. Those were two great gigs. The minibus held up somehow, despite the dodgy clutch. Sorry if anyone missed the gigs, but the 'gigs' threads seem to disappear down the line of topics pretty quickly.
10. Wahey! Roscoe have finally updated their website after 3 years.
11.
Anyone know if they will custom build me a "34"inch scale 5 string bass? I only ever see 35inch scales.
Apparently, they'll custom build anything. Contact Mark at Bass Direct.
12. I use a Roland Bass Microcube at home. Without paying PJB or Markbass price, it does the job amazingly, even with a 5-string. Amp modelling, effects (the octaver and touch wah are brilliant), compression, built-in tuner and drum machine, and can be battery operated. Unbeatable for the price IMO.
13.
i just love this soulful silk.. 14.
Always loved this one note beauty, insistent and chunky
Fantastic.
15. Cheers, looking forward to meeting a few more Basschatters.
16.
You can prebook online i think, looking into it now,£14.
Ah, cheers for that.
17. Just a quick bump to say that the Voodoo Rooms gig is almost sold out.
18. I used to play this in a previous band. The bass player on the track was T.M. Stevens, and it's his typical style. It's a difficult line to master - loads of ghost notes on the G part. The guy in the vid seems to have nailed it. Keep at it.
19. I love BSSM. Flea is an awesome player.
20.
I wish Bass Direct got more used stock in, as I am looking to buy a bass at the moment. However, in this case I'd probably suggest that the blame lies with Alex for failing to do the proper research within the time limits alloted by law or prior to purchase. This is me with my legal hat on. On the other hand, if I were in Alex's position I'd feel quite pissed off too.
How was he supposed to know???
21. I usually set the vintage tone around 12 o'clock. For a really punchy midrange sound I set the other control around 9 o'clock. Does sound like the room was a major factor.
22.
Yes. And magnificently. On every continent, women of all ages have turned to me in post-coital languor and murmured "That was unbelievable. But you're not a patch on Howard The Bass Dog."
23. Bootsy and Billy Sheehan cite their reason for starting to play was to pull women. Was that your reason to take up bass, and has it given you the power to pull?
24. This takes me back. I went to a launch of HH amps at a local hotel in Stoke back in the day. They had stacked loads of them in the room. We sat down and the lights dimmed. They turned all the amps on at once. All these green lights came on and you could literally hear the sound of money coming out of pockets. I bought one and every night in my outhouse at home I'd turn off the lights and play away. Awesome. It's a testament to their build quality that they are still out there.
25. Might be worth getting a lesson or two from someone who knows how to work out bass parts from the guitar chords. This will then hopefully give you the confidence to work out your own stuff. Just a thought.
