1. A good repair person will save it. I've seen much worse resurrected successfully and going on to lead a normal life.
2.
Off Erykah Badu's new album. Sick groove. Herbie Hancock with Freddie Washington on bass for this one.
Lovin' these two tracks.
3.

Er, is this an episode from the Mighty Boosh?
4. The BG 500 combos are excellent.
5. I don't know about the Synapse but the L2 carbon fibre is indestructible.
6. Those are damn good prices!
7.
Prince is a colossus. Total genius. But I went from loving him to feeling indifferent when he embraced hiphop and ultraslick R&B around Batman but when he's great, he's amazing. The turning point for me was around the time Wendy and Lisa split and he formed the NPG (although Sign of the times is Godlike and Lovesexy has its moments) Cairobill's Top Five Prince 1. Parade 2. Signothetimes 3. Dirty mind 4. Around the World in a Day 5. Black Album I'm not particularly interested in picking up this free album. I did it last time and it was instant coffee coaster time. A shame... Is this mirror one as duff?
It's not terrible, just way below his usual standards. I really think he should give up releasing new stuff.
8. Sounds like a bunch of his unused songs cobbled together again. Great rhythm guitar sound, though.
9. It's not very good at all. I should have ditched the CD and kept the paper.
10. I have one of these. Fantastic little amp.
11. I clicked on the link but can't see the bass. Am I missing something?
12.
Did someone mention scat?
13. Mark Adams definitely played on the classic Slave albums. His sounds seems to be right on the edge of distortion, and reminds me of Nate Watts' sound on 'I Wish'. Nobody really had a sound like that before him. I'm not sure what bass he used initially - probably a Fender - but he used an Alembic eventually. He's both underrated and understated.
14. Apologies for mentioning this guy from 70s funk band Slave again, but he's one of the unsung heroes of bass playing. His tone is arguably one of the best in bass history. 15. So after giving his last CD - which was abysmal IMO - free with the Daily Mail, Prince has resorted to giving the new one away with the Daily Mirror this Saturday. Talk about 'from the sublime to the ridiculous'. The Mirror says it's the best album he'e ever done. I'll get it but I'm not expecting too much. Or could we be pleasantly surprised? Does anyone agree with me regarding the last CD?
16. I'm an amazing singer...in my head. From there to my mouth, something goes extremely wrong.
17. I always thought that when I'd get a Jazz I'd butcher it - new pickups, bridge, East preamp etc. Now I've got one, I find it's great how it is. As WOT says, no worries about devaluing, as everything is reversible.
18.
This is what I actually said : "I don't find his groove that good at all. However I feel that I prefer players who push/drive/swing more than he does". I didn't say he couldn't groove. I also qualified my comment. I then further qualified my comment (yes, I'm repeating myself yet again) by saying I didn't personally like his feel. I'm not sure what it is about what I've said that is so difficult to grasp. It appears some people have taken offence at something they think I've said (that I didn't actually say) and have gone off on one. FWIW, I don't feel that "good groove" is an absolute. It is all a question of taste. It may be that there is a collective agreement about what constitutes good groove, in the same way that there can be about what constitutes good or bad anything, but that doesn't mean that absolutely everyone must share that opinion.
Fair enough. Good post. Good groove, bad groove...now there's a thread in the making.
19. I appreciate people have their opinions and favourite players, but to say Marcus doesn't groove is like saying Pavarotti can't sing. Just because you don't like Opera, you still can't deny he is a great singer. If Marcus couldn't groove, do you think he'd be one of the world's most sought after session players? I just think some people on here think it's cool to admit not liking him.
20. Func and sowel for me.
21. Not bad, but I think they've had their day.
22. It is impossible to think MM doesn't possess a great groove. Laughable.
23.
That's one of the things I don't really get about MM; I don't find his groove that good at all. However I feel that I prefer players who push/drive/swing more than he does. The first time I really listened to Marcus I bought a dvd, watched it through and thought, "?????". I just don't get anything about him. Can't stand his tone, don't like his feel or his sense of time and think his technique is pretty average. One of my least favourite players ever.
Feel, sense of time? Average technique??? I'm gobsmacked. You can't be serious. Tell me this is a joke! So who do you think achieves this?
