1.
I'm halfway through reading this, but seems a pretty amazing find!
Have read the other replies, so know my view diverges from the "lucky guy" sentiments already express, but this was "found" only if you extend the definition of the word "find" to include theft. This item was "found" in the sense that a burglar, having forced entry to your home, and departed with your laptop and flat screen TV, can be said to have "found" those items. Certainly, he may have had legitimate purposes for being at and on the property, but by removing an item from those premises which he has no property right in is theft. My mind goes to events here, in the UK, last week, when a street cleaner "found" a number of valuable wrist watches, which he duly delivered to the local constabulary as, at law, he is obliged to do. If he had done otherwise, by retaining those wrist watches, his action would through the act of retaining translate from being one of finding to one of theft (specifically, theft by retention).
 2. Hmm, out of 150+ basses not one that wears a Fender badge. As for the others, the ones that come closest: Yamaha BB1200, not really a Precision clone; Yamaha BB2000, not really a Jazz clone; Yamaha BB3000, not really a Jazz clone; G&L L2000, not really a Jazz clone; G&L El Toro, not really a Jazz clone, but the best execution of the "Jazz Bass" concept CLF ever designed ... There's more to life and luthiery than Fender Precision and Jazz basses.
 3. Anyone any ideas what he means by "completely original condition" when describing an instrument with various replacement parts and missing 50 per cent of its finish?
I think 3-4k is more appropriate.
He does say he has the original bridge and screws, so the one non-original part is a replacement pot. Between £3k and £4k would be on the low side. Realistically, you'd be talking £4.5k to £5k for a '64, private sale, in this condition.
 4. Two guitars/bases and one amp. Lived with "big" wattage valve guitar and bass amps for years, so know how inflexible those can be. These days, in my world, when it comes to amps small is beautiful. Probably why I just acquired one of the Marshall 50th anniversary 1 watt 60s reissue heads. Perfect for recording and practising.

 6. Shure Brothers Inc 515PE Unidyne B high impedance dynamic microphone, late 70s; with 25 foot cable, and standard "jack" plug connection. Complete with original optional extra "Shure" branded plastic carry case. Full working order. £75 ovno, including postage within mainland Great Britain. 7. Orange peel oil to clean. Linseed oil to moisten.
 8. For the owner of an item to set the price they want. For any potential buyer to decide if they wish to pay that asking price. It's a free market. And even if you feel the eBay seller is profiteering, buying cheap from BC and selling high on eBay, you have no grounds for complaint.
 9.
There's nothing rare about a tobacco sunburst 1100S surely? Worth $4,000 "at least"?? Err, ok?
Rare? Nope, nothing. In production from the mid 80s to mid 90s, made in both Japan and Taiwan as the 1100S, although the earlier "V" version was made in Japan only. In the last few weeks, a clean example from the MIJ era, finished in "Redburst", sold on eBay for £260 http://www.ebay.co.u...0#ht_500wt_1216 That's a touch on the low side, but circa £300 would get you one under most circumstances.
 10.
Not to be confussed with the LTD make basses which I think are buget basses made by the ESP company.
Those LTD basses are not made by ESP, but are original ESP designs produced for the US-based licensee by third party factories, mostly in Indonesia. Re Cort's Artisan series, and the use of "Ltd", isn't it usually used in connection with those premium woods and finishes which are revolved through the catalogue at different times?
 11. Tried a number when GuitarGuitar started stocking these, but though all were somewhat cheap and nasty - raw woods, thin finishes, and nasal/characterless pickups/electrics - for a maker pitching its product at an intermediate to pro level.
 12. The market has moved a little, since '07.
 13. Yea, and I think my camera skills are really bad; but this guy's take the prize.
 14.
What makes it a rare one? Fiddly preamp/unusual colour?
There's now't that's rare or collectible about that Yamaha. The piece says it's a BB11005, but that's an error - it's a BB1100S - and a later one at that, probably Made in Taiwan. I'm guessing that it's the emotional connection that making it of "sentimental" value.
 15.
[Y]ou never get ripped off
Still waiting for two BCers to pay up in respect of items received damaged - one owing £240; the other £35. Hope they both drop by, as I'm sure they know who they are. And there have been more than a few stories about rip offs and less than honest sellers; but, in the main, my experiences here have been positive too. Certainly no worse than eBay in its heyday (which was a long time ago). Wouldn't touch that particular site with a 10-foot pole these days.
 16. Columbus Precision. Nope, don't miss it. But it was MIJ, and sowed the seeds.
 17.
I don't think I need two guitars
Need, sure. But how many guitars do you want?
 18.
Seems slightly expensive ... or is there something I'm missing??
Scarcity. If you're looking at this and thinking "Squier" you're thinking the wrong thing. As future collectibles go - if all the production stamps and codes check out - this would be a good investment piece. Yes, it has been priced for eBay - meaning the vendor has factored in a percentage to recoup listing, final valuation and payment fees - but that's the way people are approaching sales these days.
 19. EBS Sweden AB, Black Label series, OctaBass, triple mode octave divider. Excellent condition. Home use only. Complete with original box, user manual, sample pedal settings leaflet, certificate of origin, registration card, and sticker. This is not the latest bypass version. £65, including postage within mainland Great Britain.
 20. So, "off the wall"? Wonder if he's a friend of Michael.
 21.
Looking for offers over £350.
Ask a Mod, but "looking for offers over" is a blind auction, and breaks the rules of the forum.
 22.
I suppose someone, somewhere wants a wammy arm on their bass! http://www.ebay.co.u...6#ht_500wt_1202
G&L was building the Interceptor bass in the 80s, one version of which came with a Kahler vibrato as standard. The 80s were strange times. As for the Aria, still using sen in '81, not Canadian ash. And someone should tell him it's walnut stained, not oak.
 23.
4 PAGES! Aaaagh this has to stop.
You're worse than me! That aside, sold an Aria to John, which, unfortunately, didn't work out for him due to a balance issue. Easy chap to deal with, who messaged at all the relevant points to update on transaction progress. Cheers, N
