1.
Sheldon has just finished a prototype Super P bass
Maybe just me, but this variant just seems pointless.
 2.
http://www.ebay.co.u...sid=p4340.l2562
Disgusting.
 3.
Surely, if, as you say, the freedom of the market is sacrosanct then if I'm not happy with a price I can negotiate in public, not in private, or stand on a soapbox complaining about the prices. I don't see how you can have it both ways. It sounds like you want this freedom to be only on your terms.
Sellers are free to avail themselves of the marketplace, advertising goods they posses at the price they determine, so long as they do so within the rules established for the regulation of the marketplace. In that context, stating that the freedom of the market is sacrosanct is completely correct, and there is no double standard being advocated. It's also the case that, for other than auctions, roups and exchanges, it's also common commercial practice to rely on privity of negotiations/contract, so, observing the rules and common practice all comments on price should be reserved for private communications. As far as the current situation is concerned, if you want a change in policy, petition the controllers of the forum.
 4.
+1. You're entitled to ask what you want for it, but that's bad form...
In the circumstances - two threads by one seller for the one item - there are a few possible scenarios - among which would be mistake or scam. In the circumstances, the OP has been straightforward, and admitted error/mistake. So, barring clarification by a moderator, I'd say it was a fair point to highlight the conflicting prices.
I've had a quote of £42 to send this bass to Glasgow with the option of an added £35 for insurance. Bringing the total to £77.
Try here http://www.paisleyfreight.com. Much cheaper.
 5. For those who don't already know, these Kramer NS-2A models were designed/specified in collaboration with Stuart Spector (who selected the wood substitutions). The circuitry was redesigned, certainly, but everything else was as you'd expect from an original NS2. Sure, the hardware looked a little plain by comparison, and the bridge was a cast alloy as opposed to brass, but you were still getting Schaller gear. When I played one alongside my NS2, it had the original Spector branded/EMG designed passive pickups onboard (although most people swapped these out for EMGs), but it certainly scored nine out of ten in every category. The OP's, as it's from the later part of the production run, has the added advantage of featuring a serial number (the early ones didn't), and has to be one of the nicest looking NS-2A examples I've seen for some time.
 6. Rules of the forum: You have to state a price.
 7.
Could just be a noob trying his luck?
Alternatively, as is all too common, the overly optimistic owner. The one who bought a bass from their local store six, nine, or twelve months previously, paying £1,000, and expects to be able to sell a readily available commodity for £950. (Or, worse, for the full £1,000.) There have been a few of those daydreamers doing the rounds recently, But, it's the seller's call. If that's the price they want, it's the price they ask, and it's the price you pay if they have something you want. It's life in a free market economy.
 8. D'addario and GHS both manufacture double ball end strings with a nickel-plated steel outer wrap. Both manufacture five-string sets, although in limited gauges. Can't recall if either produce a six-string set as standard. Picato also manufacture double ball end strings with a nickel outer wrap, although limited to four-string sets. La Bella certainly produced six-string sets previously, although not sure if it does these days. It certainly supplies various bass manufacturers with strings which are factory fitted. Alternatively, you could investigate Optima, which manufactures gold-plated steel outer wraps in a vast range of gauges and sets (as well as supplying custom sets to order).
 9.
I did go on to say:
Read what you went on to say before posting. Had no comment worth adding or view worth expressing on that content. Did, however, disagree with your suggestion that it was for members to inform on seller's listings in order to have moderators review seller's pricing, so specifically highlighted, and commented.
 10.
Perhaps it is best to inform a mod and let them point out the error of the noobs ways?
This assumes the seller is making an error. Just because the seller is asking a price that others here think is unrealistic does not mean the seller is making any error. The owner of an item has the right to ask whatever price they decide, and it is neither the right nor the responsibility of any member or a moderator to comment on or question that, where the seller is adhering to the rules laid down for participation in the marketplace. It is, as with all transactions, the responsibility of any potential buyers to familiarise themselves with the goods and the market value of those goods.
 11.
If you think that fretboard is made out of rosewood, you cleary don't no your wood. We have a saying in the region where I live, si sente squillare il campanello, ma non so dove il batacchio si blocca.
Are you referring to "real" rosewoods, Dalbergia such as Nigra (Brazilian) and Latifolia (Indian), or the other woods commonly termed rosewoods, but not of the genus? Personally, owning instruments that feature Brazilian and Indian rosewood touchboards, I'm more than able to believe that this Wal features Indian rosewood, leaving aside that some luthiers will use stains to reinforce the colouring of timbers.
 12.
I have sunbeams on at the moment and they are nice. not necessarily to everyone's taste though as they are quite flexible
In which case, try Lo Rider Nickels. Sunbeams are wound on a round core and Lo Riders on a hex core. Otherwise, exactly the same wrap materials. Any string wound on a hex core will feel slightly stiffer than it's round core equivalent.
 13.
Where was it made ?
USA, according to the first photograph.
 14.
I've sent Mark an email asking for some spacers or springs to lift the p/ups. I'm sure that most people would agree that sinking the p/ups into the body is aesthetically pleasing - just sunk a bit too low on this occassion. Niggling/frustrating/annoying but not irresolvable..
Do I read this correctly? The guy who built this instrument didn't fit any apparatus for adjusting the height of the pickup? No springs, no silicon tubing, no foam bed? So, if you wanted a super low action, or a super high action, the pickup couldn't be adjusted to suit? If so, then the guy's an idiot. For optimum performance, you have to be able to adjust the height of the pickup. That's electric bass design 101.
 15. Don't know why this lot list items on eBay. Sure, sell lots of small ticket items, but rarely move big ticket stuff.
 16.
[I]s this worth doing?
No
[D]oes it give much of an extended lifespan?
No
 17. Do the strings you're using have a stainless steel outer wrap? If so, switch to a string from the same company, but with a nickel outer wrap. Generally, for an equivalent gauge/design, a nickel string will create a little more volume and a little less brightness.
 18.
come on peeps this is a real gem!!
Agreed. But not enough people are aware of the model. As you'd expect from Yamaha, well built, and with the same specification circuit as fitted to some series one TRB models, the 1500A often goes un-noticed. And if people see a similarity between it and the BBN series, that's no coincidence, although the 1500A benefits from a super fast and narrow "Jazz" neck.
 19.
I really don't know much about these early models and just thought it looks cheap.
Don't let the finish or the ugly scratchplate fool you, these were more ballsy than the later Wals that so many others seem to covet. I'd have this model over the later models every time.
 20. Find the whole subject of "like/dislike" rating of threads to be pointless in the extreme. If you have an opinion on a thread then post in the thread, and add to the discussion.
 21. That finish looks better in reality. Well, it did to me the day I wandered into Sound Control, in Glasgow, and saw three of the two pickup versions lying on the floor, on top of their hardcases. Circa '87, and SC was asking £550 for each. Walked out with mine for £480.
 22.
Make offer
Rules of the forum: You must state an asking price if an item is for sale.
 23.
...technically members can't promote their own listings in the eBay section
It's not the OP's eBay listing; it's his guitarist mates.
