And given that the other half is mixed race, there's also, Nagsasalita ba kayo ng Tagalog?

 5.
The bridge is identical to the one fitted to my Cimar XR2065 ... All the evidence points to the original(ish) design Cimars being Fujigen-made ... The Shiro's almost certainly not a Fujigen & definitely not a Mat - what were you thinking?
Nagano ... Shizuoka ... Aichi ... So many prefectures to stick your pin, in Chubu.
 6.
Ah, I didn't realise there was a new model. This is the original. Will post photos tomorrow.
But is that "original" original or "reissue" original? The former will have a slider labelled "Square Wave", and the latter a slider labelled "Distortion".
 7.
The bridge is a bit skew-whiff.
They don't call it JapCrap without reason. The bridge, though, is good clue to its origin.

 11.
Do the rounds mark the neck much?
Depends on your playing style. But there's always the option of ground/half wounds. My BB5000F is currently strung with DR Lo-Rider Nickels. I'd previously used D'Addario Chromes, but didn't get the best out of the string or the bass with that combination.
 12.
TSB500 Bass. Matsumoku goodness. 14.
Swamp Ash usually gets labelled as such, as we expect to see that as a tonewood; but pine needs a bit of er... marketing.
Go back a few years and you'd not find any manufacturer using Swamp Ash - being wood that had been reclaimed. Basically, dead wood that had been soaked, it was seen as being inferior. Now there's even a fashion for diseased wood - Spalted Maple - and you'll find manufacturers such as Gibson using particle board for the caps on guitars across its range. Personally, not seeing any issues with a nice piece of Pine. Might even have the added advantage of freshening many an EMO's bedroom.
 15. How long is a piece of string? My Aria Pro II SB-R150, custom fitted with an unlined ebony touchboard and Alembix AXY pickups and tone circuit, is as close to perfection as I've had. Fretless basses that have passed through my hands have included CLF (designs for Fender, MusicMan and G&L), Wal, Pedulla, Goodfellow, Tyler, Jaydee, Kubicki, Status, Warwick, Sadowsky, and Yamaha.
 16. Or one of these: http://www.maton.com.au/index.php?option=c...e%20Bass%20(68)

 18.
There's a BB424 for sale HERE at a very good price ...
300 notes for OTPJ's 424 is a steal. For sure I'd stick with the passive models, unless you have the money for the high-end active models, as the circuit in the entry level models is a bit bland.
 19.
SB-700 with hard case. On first view, I thought the price quite reasonable, but with the non-original pickup and filled in switch hole, I'm not so sure.
It started out at £399, with no interest. Still overpriced at £350 in its current condition. It's a boring, run of the mill, Oak finished 700. Now, the Black 700 that was listed at the weekend should have caught your attention. Black was a standard finish, but produced in small numbers when compared to the Oak and Walnut versions, and pre-81 examples in that finish come up relatively infrequently.
 20.
LOVELY colour!!
It ain't no yellow natural though.
 21.
Surely any secondhand instrument, rare or otherwise, is worth precisely what a buyer will pay for it!
If you're defining worth purely in monetary terms, sure. But the worth of early SB designs, to my mind, is more intrinsical than financial, hence the distinction.
 22.
This is seriously expensive and you can try it out in Finland. It's not really worth that, is it? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aria-Pro-II-Bass-SB-...=item3cb10e7add
What it's worth and what it'll sell for are two different things. But, no, it'll not sell for that price. Half that price, sure. Not this particular listing, but seriously don't get why people insist on listing these APIIs as being rare, after the original design was amended in '78 production was relatively high. Selling a factory spec first-run SB1000 or SB800 and then stating rare could be justified.
 23.
There's always bank to bank transfer but I'm a bit wary about giving a complete stranger my bank account details.
You do that every time you write a cheque. In fact, there's more information printed on a personal cheque than is usually required for direct bank transfer.
 24.
Walnut SB-1000 No reserve & 5 days to run, watching with interest. Sellers spiel is interesting. Do Aria do valuations now?
The stock cookie-cutter description - someone should tell him the touchboards were initially jacaranda, thereafter ebony. He's got a snowball in hell's chance of getting £1,500 for it, offering just a bass and case - he wants the original perspex overlay, toolkit, tag and brochure, and he'd still not get anywhere near. But if someone is offering £1,500 they can have one of the seven "unique" examples I own - two with all the additional candy.
