Well - despite having had something pushed through my eardrum many years ago, so I know only too well what can happen when you stick things in your ears - I spent a while softening the wax up by putting my head on a hot water bottle & then I dug most of it out with an Allen Key....
  2.
Metallica will bring their own distinct audience to add to, not replace the kiddie bands in this year....
How will they do that then? The tickets were sold out months before they were even announced.
  3.
Of course the reason that the act goes down well is because the act have sold millions upon millions of records, are household names throughout the world to the point that their popularity is not confined to a genre and they are well known for giving a great live show.
I thought the reason acts go down well at Glastonbury (or any big festival these days) is that basically the sort of people who go to these things basically don't give a f*** who's playing, they'll jump around & whoop & cheer to absolutely anything because it's about being there & being able to bore everybody shitless for months about what a "great experience" you had there rather than the music.
  4. This is part of what came out of my left ear a few months ago:

    SOLD

Stunning colour - I'd love a Precision in that colour.
  6. If your P Bass is "Too Loud" for acoustic gigs then why not just turn it down?
  7. I've tried to get into recording but the bottom line for me is that I've got absolutely no interest in it whatsoever. I write stuff & rough demo it on a Boss BR600; I've got GarageBand but I really don't like it very much. I'd rather spend my money on going into a studio & recording stuff with somebody that knows what they're doing than spending it on home recording equipment.
  8. Just about to get some new strings for my Atkin acoustic. Not very impressed with the Cleartone strings I have on it at the moment so I might well try some of these. Best strings I've tried on it so far have been Thomastick Spectrums. Used to use DRs on my Fylde but the quality was so inconsistent that I stopped buying them (my local shop actually stopped stocking them due to the number of complaints they received about them).

    Uncomfortable Tele
Do people route the back edge to make it easier on the ribs?
No, they just buy a Strat.
  10. It's a wraparound bridge of some sort - accurate intonation with these is a compromise at best. Not seen one like this - looks like you'd intonate the lowest & highest strings using the grub screws at the rear of the bridge & set the four middle strings with the adjustable saddles.
  11.
Fender are now enforcing patents, wonder if the same ban will be applied.
Fender have been enforcing patents for years, why do you think certain older Fender style guitars are referred to as "Pre Lawsuit", and that newer models by Tokai, Levinson & countless other makes have different headstock shapes to Fender?
  12.
As for the Rick, Wetton himself said that is what he played on the Asia debut album. Incredible sound. I thought it was a Jazz for years thanks to the aforementioned video.
Saw Asia at Wembley on the first tour in 1982 - Wetton used a Precision, a Zon & a Gibson Victory. I remember the Precision had an enormous cable coming out of it that enabled him to trigger his Taurus pedals from his bass. Brilliant gig, and still the most unbelievably loud one I've ever been to.
  13.
.....i got to see Brian May play with the Troggs.....Surreal!
There really isn't any need to ask what song they played, is there?
  14.
....a 17 minute proto-goth/punk/prog epic!
I was trying to think of a way to describe "Curtain Call" & I suppose that's as good as any.
  15. The Black Album is really good & Paul is a lovely bloke.
  16.
The top one is a guitar I think?
It was when it was originally built, but Squire had it turned into some weird six string (three strings doubled up) configuration.
  17.
Good Lord - how much does it weigh?? My back hurts just looking at it.
Yeah, Squire's a fat **** these days, isn't he?
  18.
Let's see - they clean themselves using their tongues which are next to their teeth so yes, bites will likely be an infection risk
It's got nothing to do with how they clean themselves - the primary cause of infection from a bite is bacteria from decaying food stuck between the teeth, which is exactly the same reason human bites are infectious. Cats are very fastidious animals, certainly a lot cleaner than many humans are.
  19.
Anything 20 years or older is vintage.
I thought, as far as guitars/basses are concerned , it was 25 years.
  20.
I hadn't realised how dangerous animal bites are. The doctor was annoyed that i didn't go straight to hospital as pretty much 100% of cat bites that puncture skin get infected.
No worse than human bites. I've been bitten by cats 100s of times (I've got four of my own & used to foster for the cats protection league) & I've never had an infected one yet.
  21.
The only Fender instrument I own is a Banjo. So now where do I stand??
In a field with a bit of grass stuck between your teeth by the sound of it.
  22. How can it look "totally unique" - the finish has been copied from a hideous Strat Clapton was using a few years ago.
