2. Could well be the neck profile - I played a jazz profile neck for years but ended up moving to chunkier necks because I just started to find the jazz really uncomfortable.
3. I use Pickboy Edge carbon nylon plectrums, 1.14mm for bass & guitar.
4. I use the Ultimate GS100 & GS200 & they're both really good.

Here's a few pictures of my Alistair Atkin Rosewood OM Standard that I bought in 2012:
My brand new custom built Fylde 'Ariel' acoustic. 0/parlour guitar body size. Ordered Sept 2012, complete November 2013. Received at 10am this morning... utterly incredible. Never seen an acoustic guitar like it, and I've tried everything from Avalons to Lowdens to Taylors to Collings - simply stunning. Specs for those that care... 24.75" scale length Mahogany Neck Rosewood back and sides Cedar top No front dots Double binding on edges, front and back Same style for the rosette Blackwood fingerboard LR Baggs Anthem pickup (blendable mic + piezo pickup)
Now that is really rather superb.
8. I don't care what it is, just PLEASE don't make me listen to any more f***ing Morcheeba.
9.
Great instruments... a friend of mine teaches at clinics around Europe.
Who's that then?
10.
SANDBERG!! Wierd slightly rounded bridge, slight beak to the headstock, angled retainer....
Just Googled a few Sandberg J style basses & I think you may well be right, the headstock certainly looks the same.
11. You are not alone..... I bought a 12 string Grand Stick towards the end of last year after selling my 10 string years ago & regretting it. I've recently had lots of problems with damaged ligaments in my right hand though so I've hardly played it since I got it. There's a Basschat Stick thread here if you're interested: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/164195-the-stick-thread/
12.
I don't know, but there are two more videos from their appearance in Later with Jools Holland on Youtube (Rome Wasn't Built in One Day and Be Yourself) which feature the bass more prominently.
Why didn't you post one of those then? OK, watched the other two clips & still can't get a decent look at the bass, other than it seems to have quite a pronounced hook shape on the headstock - it's some kind of generic Super Jazz of which there are hundreds, if not thousands, of different types.
13. Yes - a couple of Rickenbacker 4001's. The first "Pro" basses I ever owned - I loved the look of them so much & all my then bass heroes played them. I was gutted when I actually owned a couple & found out I just didn't like them. My Stingray 5 was also a massive disappointment - I'd heard so many people raving about how great they were both sound & quality-wise, yet personally I found it to be sadly lacking in both these areas.
14.
Manfred Mann and bass player Mark Griffiths have actually patented a similar concept, but I don't think it ever made it into production instruments: http://www.sidasante...rkcv/stereo.htm http://www.platform-...owntoearth.html
This sounds very similar to Steve Ripleys stereo guitar system that Kramer used in the mid 80s: http://www.vintagekramer.com/ripley.htm
15. I saw Butcher Babies supporting Anthrax a couple of years ago - they were pretty good.
16.
Someone else pointed me in the direction of an Apogee Jam circa £70 from GAK
Do you think you might want to use external mics for recording at some point? If there's any possibility you will then you really are better off looking at something like the Focusrite Scarlett rather than something like the Apogee Jam or the iRig.
17. Absolutely not. (Never go into music shops anyway as I can pretty much guarantee they won't have anything of any interest to me).
18. I've got a mic input on my old Macbook that allows me to plug a guitar or bass straight in. Apparently you shouldn't do this because of latency issues but I've never had a problem (not really into home recording anyway so I'm not very fussy).
19. A Farewell to Kings/Hemispheres era is my favourite. Worst IMO is the horrendous "elastic bands on a shoe box" Wal years.
20. They are bound to think "What a complete waste of our time, if the distance is a problem why did you bother auditioning in the first place?". Surely you must have realised the distance would be a problem before you auditioned?
21. Watched a few of her other YouTube clips - what an amazing person!
22.
But could you play Stereophonics songs constantly without thinking "could we drop in a spot of Muse"?
The last thing I would want to do with any song I was playing would be "drop in a bit of Muse". Why would anybody want to spoil a nice simple but tasty meal by stirring dog sh*t into it?
23. Hedges used to use some unusual tunings with very low (for an acoustic guitar) bass notes, not uncommonly G below the low E.
24. Awesome bass! The Jeff Ament model is the best looking of the Hamer "A" style 12vers IMO as it doesn't have the fake sound hole. Always great to see a Hamer with boomers too! What scale is this BTW?
