1. Some people, me being one of them, had basses ordered that were never fulfilled... 🤬 I ended up ordering a Jaydee because he flipped me around so much. I heard that he did a runner because he owed a lot of people a lot of money. Don't know if it's true or not, but going by my dealings with him in the 80s it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Also heard that he ended up working for Gibson.
2. It was Belew's involvement, along with Roger Powell (Todd Rundgren's Utopia) & Simon House (Hawkwind), that made me check out the "Stage" album.
3. I saw them in Cardiff. Big Country & The Screaming Blue Messiahs were superb. Bowie was very much a triumph of style over content IMO. I saw Peter Gabriel in Birmingham a week later & that gig was everything that the Bowie one wasn't.
4. I only really like a few of his albums & that tends to be largely because of Eno's involvement. Saw him live on the Glass Spider tour & it's one of the worst gigs I've ever been to.
5. I don't gig anymore, but I never carried spare strings when I did. In 40+ years of playing I've yet to break a string.
6. I wouldn't class myself as a Bowie "fan" but you really should listen to George Murrays playing on the "Stage" album. Him & Dennis Davis are one of my favourite rhythm sections of all time. The version of "Stay" on that album is jaw-droppingly good. The whole band on that album is just incredible, one of the best ever assembled IMO.
7. Is the Styx album good then? Not had a chance to hear it yet. I thought "The Mission" was pretty good.
8. Awesome, thanks. What's the condition like, any chips, dings? - looks great in the photos. I've hopefully got somebody buying a guitar off me this week, if that goes ahead you shall be hearing from me again...
9. Can't choose just one, but my favourite albums of 2021 so far are: Becky Becky - Maraca The Anchoress - The Art of Losing Gojira - Fortitude Jean Michel Jarre - Amazonia Adrian Smith & Richie Kotzen - Smith/Kotzen
10. Is this still available? What are the controls on it? (couldn't see what the guy in the video was doing as the controls are out of shot)
11. I like the albums Dio did with Sabbath but I can't stand him singing the Ozzy era stuff, just doesn't work for me.
12. It's actually "Treating people just like pawns in chess"...
13. To answer a couple of earlier questions: Scale length is 34" Weight (on my digital scales) is exactly 9lbs. It also has 0% body fat.🙂 I would consider delivering this bass for the cost of the train fare if that's any use to anyone.
14. I’m pretty certain it’s 34” but I’ll check to make sure.
15. I don't know how much it weighs, but I've never thought of it as heavy. I've certainly owned heavier basses.
16. Happens a lot around here. Lots of people cream their pants over the latest "must have", buy it & then sell it a few days/weeks/months later to fund their next wet dream purchase.
17.
Interesting bass that Sheryl Crow was playing last night, some kind of short-scale Guild. Anybody know what it was?
I think it was some kind of short-scale Guild.
