1. The other thing to remember when ordering from the US is that any warranty offered with the gear may not be valid in this country.

  3. Allow for 25% of the cost of the item + shipping & you'll cover it. For example, something that costs £925.00 + £75.00 shipping would end up costing you around £1250.00 when VAT & Import duties are added. You'll also probably need to pay a handling fee of some sort depending on the courier.
  4.
Hahah. Who guested on my old bands album doing backing vocals
I wasn't nominating Bob for the annoying frontman thing, just responding to a post where someone couldn't think of his name. Bob's got a great voice IMO.
  5.
Can`t remember his name, but the singer from Magnum. Used to do this really rubbish "hand-dancing" thing.
Bob Catley.
  6.
TBH I always think that people who say they can't find the right band for them aren't trying hard enough. Unless your only favoured music is some incredibly niche genre or you live in the back of beyond, I can't see why you can't find the right like-minded musicians to play with.
I've tried for the last few years to find a band playing the sort of stuff I want to play, but around here all the interesting bands are 20+ years younger than me. I've been told many times when enquiring about joining bands "Sorry, you're too old" (once I actually had somebody laugh when I told them my age). It's really disheartening, to the extent that I've just given up looking. The only bands that seem to be looking for people of my age are all bloody blues bands & covers/function stuff, and I'd rather eat a skip full of dog poo than do that.
  7.
There does seem to be a bit of a disproportionate amount of time given to "slap sound" in kit demos on youtube too which annoys me, considering 90% of the time most bassists are playing with fingers or pick it seems a bit of a waste of time to watch someone slap away for ten minutes before they go "oh yeah and this is the pick and finger style sound" briefly at the end.
You're making the mistake of assuming that gear demos on Youtube are primarily about the gear & not in fact largely a dickswinging excercise where the player gets to show what a badass he is.
  8.
As Anthony Jackson said it became the ketchup of bass playing.
And he'd know as he's probably seen more ketchup than most people over the years.
  9. I was really interested in this until I saw the ticket prices.
  10.
Even Bach had a corporate gig really.
Was that for advertising his flower remedies?
  11. That's really cool - Danny is a true legend and an awesome player.
  12. Secondhand Spector Euro LX5. Just got one myself & it's a stunning bit of kit.
  13. Don't know how much you want to spend, but these are probably the best you'll get: http://www.sfxsound.co.uk/mainpage.asp?page=h1 http://www.sfxsound.co.uk/mainpage.asp?page=micro_h
  14.
Great to see some love and respect for Todd Rundgren here.
I worship him.

  16. What about this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DIPINTO-BELVEDERE-STANDARD-BASS-plus-DiPinto-Gigbag-/300687154130?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item460259dbd2 Daft price so far & looks quite cool IMO.
  17.
I'd say go for it. But then I didn't realise that people still get offended by it. I didn't really realise people still cared that much about the queen, to be quite honest. I should probably watch the news more. ._.
A lot of older people (i.e. pensionable age) still care very much about the Queen, and as a Jubilee Celebration party is likely to have older people in attendance then I think, personally, that to play that song at an event where the sole purpose is to celebrate the monarchy would be disrespectful to them.
  18. Sounds like a pretty childish idea to me, and guaranteed to offend & upset people if you're playing a street party to celebrate the Queens jubilee that will have people from all generations attending.
  19.
Just trawling the forum and spotted this old thread and your playing Danny, something else....reason for posting is...I have just enquired about a hyperbass direct from Zon, nothing special just a straightforward no xtenders altered tuning jobby just 'bog' standard. The bass looks amazing, I have had it priced in Black, solid black, no fancy wood, just black. Not sure if I will do it 7 month lead and 50% up front on a $6,000 bass.......something will have to go..... My knackers if Mrs Blondie ever found out. This could be a dream as I don't do fancy bass...
If you haven't already you might want to read GremlinAndys posts on waiting for his Hyperbass to be delivered in the Zons GearPorn thread: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/54706-where-are-the-zons/page__st__40 Not trying to put you off or anything - I have two Zons & I think they're the best basses money can buy.
  20. And Your Bird Can Sing.
  21. I've seen Dressed to Kill (where is Cetera these days?) & I'd like to see Dick Venom & the Terrortones if I ever get the chance.
  22. I've just bought that type of adaptor for my Jacques chorus pedal from here: http://www.effectpowersupplies.com/mini-jack-plug-adaptor-12-p.asp Great to deal with - very impressed with them. Also bought a power supply from them which is really good.

That's a fantastic shape - I love the Klein stuff. It's obviously used the Ovation Breadwinner/Deacon shape as a reference but has been tweaked enough to be different. I look forward to seeing that when it's finished.
It's an interesting shape! Very hard to imagine what it's going to look like
I would think it will look very similar to a Klein.

Here's a few of mine: My pre lawsuit Levinson Blade Texas Standard, modded with EMG David Gilmour pickups & tone circuit. My Roland GR505 guitar controller with GR700 synth module. Guitar modded with a Kahler tremolo (now sold). My stunning Fylde Orsino Custom - the only one made with the herringbone binding found on the more expensive Fylde models (according to Roger Bucknell himself). My Gretsch Brian Setzer Hotrod, which is actually metallic purple but the colour never comes out right in photos (now sold). 1982 Hamer Special (now sold).
