2.
So, as bassists we like the low notes right?
No. I prefer the sound of the middle range of the instrument. I've yet to hear a low B that I didn't think sounded sh*te. If I want really low bass I'll play it on something that is better at doing it, like a synth.
 3. If it said Limelight or Nash on the headstock people would be creaming their pants over it.
 4. I laughed when i saw that too - "put a shirt on, you're 50"
 5. Some of us can't afford more than one bass.
 6.
I spent all last year trying to get a modern country band together. It proved impossible to get a guitarist that wasn't a classic rock player. Every profile on every band site and every guitarist all seemed to list classic rock as their interest first! I even swapped to guitar to try and solve the issue...but ultimately I'm not a good enough guitarist to pull it off so I gave up!
That's because it's a lot easier to be a decent classic rock guitarist than it is to be a decent country guitarist.
 7.
Cheers Rhys - hope you're well. Lovely bass - will have a think on this one.
I'm good thanks! Hope you're doing OK. It is a lovely one isn't it? Good price too.
 8. I'd say 30-45 minutes.
 9.
Where are you based? Sorry - I'm on my phone so can't see your location from your profile...
Cwmbran, South Wales.

 11. Done. Think Chris Squire and/or Geddy Lee should have been on that final list though.
 12. That is a lovely colour!
 13. With question 5 do you mean to you personally or to bass playing in general?
 14.
1000x yes! One of the few bands that completely blew me away the first time (and every time) I saw them.
I never got to see them live unfortunately.
 15.
I am so enjoying this guitar.
Excellent! Did you get rid of your ES175 after?
 16.
could you imagine getting "Dummy" by Portishead on vinyl? How would you know which pops and clicks were from the original recording and which had been acquired by your personal copy of the record?
I'm going to have to buy a vinyl copy of "Dummy" now & keep taking it back because it's scratched.
 17. My Zon Legacy Elite fretless was astonishingly light, easily the lightest bass I've ever played. I never weighed it but it wasn't even close to 8lbs, & it wouldn't surprise me if it was under 7lbs.
 18.
Does anyone buy anything from record shops these days?
I do. I still buy music on CD. I don't buy much so if I can get it locally I will. I also tend to buy CDs at gigs if they are available. I have no interest in buying downloads or using streaming services.

 20.
Well spotted. You win a copy of the Frog Chorus.
Thanks Denny, you're a gem. I'd better go now...
 21.
"Deliveries into non-EU countries require a complicated and sometimes lengthy approval procedure. This may delay delivery by several thomann weeks and may cause further fees in the recipient's country. Please make sure you understand the relevant rules in your country before making a purchase." https://www.thomann....info_cites.html
What's a "Thomann Week"? do they use a different timescale to the rest of us?
 22.
We throw the crowd a curve ball after playing some sh*t rock covers by kicking in The Riverboat song Turns heads, does that number
Play some sh*t rock covers followed by a really sh*t rock cover - yeah, that's some curve ball.
Nice bass Alembic1989. Wel worth the wait and worry. I've always had a thing for the USA Mockngbird as used by Neil Murray with Whitesnake. Great sounding bass and stunning looks. Do the Mockingbirds suffer from neckdive at all ? Dave
Not so I've noticed, no. There are certainly far worse basses out there for neck dive.
What are all the switches for on the Mockingbird. ? Dave
The switches are series/parallel for each pickup, phase switch that works when both pickups are selected & the one on it's own by the varitone is the on/off switch for the preamp/boost, which has it's own volume control.
 24.
What a lovely bunch of members. You wouldn't see this on some of the forums I've been on in the past.
Yep, there are some gems on here.
