A Wal with (I think) very light guage Superwound Funkmaster strings (30-90 if I remember correctly from when I used them on my Jaydee). A very similar sound can be obtained by stretching four thin elastic bands across an old shoe box - bloody awful! (IMO of course ).
Encore P copy through a Carlsbro Stingray.
That set up probably would have sounded a lot better (see comments above).

I've had nothing but good experiences buying & selling on here.

What influences your bass purchases?
RhysP replied to originalfunkbrother's topic in General Discussion
Price. I've got less money than I've ever had in my life, so how much something costs is paramount. Unfortunately the basses I play are just too expensive for me to even consider buying one now, even secondhand. I'm just thankful I got my hands on a couple of fantastic basses while I had the money. -
Those Galveston 12vers are meant to be pretty good - they've got a loyal following on the 12 string bass forum.

Welcome to the forum from another Gormenghast fan (with that user name I'm assuming you are too).
No..I'm thinking that maybe I should have bought a gallon of petrol and a box of matches as well..
That is incredibly wasteful of you - petrol is a finite resource after all......

Can't you get them to play in Cardiff? -
I play mandolin, though I haven't picked one up for a while. Can't help you with the tab thing, sorry - I've always just worked stuff out by ear.
For a custom bass? You'd be hard pressed, methinks.
I'm fully aware of that. I was merely stating that £400 is the most I could possibly spend on a bass given my current financial situation, not what I thought it cost.
-
It's certainly a great-looking bass... just had a look at the Shuker site, and they're not as wildly expensive as you'd think. Mind you, that depends what you're thinking, of course.
I was thinking less than £400. I had a look at the Shuker site too, and all the basses are more than I have ever spent, or will ever spend, on a bass. Great prices for what you get though, especially when compared to current US Fender prices.

I used to use the SIT strings 12ver set on my Hamer. I had to order them from the US but they were really good.

That looks absolutely stunning. I've been thinking about getting a Precision style bass & this would be just perfect (if it were not for the fact that it's probably way out of my price range).
what is the form on blues jams?
Basically you plod along playing a walking bassline whilst a load of guitarists w*** on endlessly over the top of it, pausing occasionally to sing some bollocks about how tough their life is before playing another solo on their £5000 private stock PRS or similar.

I've never paid more than £40.00 for any basses/guitars to be shipped from Europe.

£33 to see what is really only a covers band
I want to look up on that stage and see Roger Waters/Steve Hackett/Eric Clapton/Mick Jagger etc.
Not all in the same band I wouldn't. -

I'm a big Floyd fan but I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in going to see a tribute band play their stuff - I don't care how good they are, they're not Pink Floyd. I'd much rather stay in & listen to the albums. Same goes for Steely Dan too. -
Bellowhead are an awesome live band. Are Moving Hearts still going then? I know Christy Moore & Donal Lunny tour together sometimes but I had no idea they still all played together as Moving Hearts - is Davy Spillane still with them?

I'd forgotten all about that one. An old school friend of mine had it and we used to play it all the time. Lovely little album. Next time I see her I'll have to ask if she's still got it.
