1. I'd say they need to be raised by quite a bit. It will vary from pickup to pickup but most pickups will come with installation instructions that tend to quote the ideal set up height for them. The Seymour Duncan website has PDF files for all it's pickups which include optimum height measurements
 2.
I found it unlistenable due to the awful level of reverb on it. Is he sponsored by Lexicon or summat?
I'm glad somebody else thought that as well. I thought there was far too much fret buzz & general clankiness as well.
 3. Just been on the EBS website & your review is on there too (the written & the video version).
 4.
Oh cool! What did they say?
It says "Great Video review on EBS Session 60" - your video review is the first thing at the top of the newsletter. If you've got an email address you could PM me I'll forward the newsletter to you if you want.
 5. Haven't heard that for a while. What a great song. Those early Lindisfarne LPs were played all the time in my house when I was growing up.
 6. There's a link to this review in the latest EBS email newsletter.
 7.
mercuryl
I'd be especially interested to find out what make of bass he uses.
 8.
Perhaps everyone could neg this post so that I can neg everyone back with a clear conscience.
I pozzed (?) you just to be contrary.
 9.
I like that idea. It would be interesting to hear from busy bassists who play regular gigs... it would be easy to relate to and tips and stories could be interesting.
Um, isn't that exactly what we get on Basschat?
 10.
It's an eight string unlined fretless Hamer Blitz.
It's not a Blitz, it's a custom (four digit serial number) Standard. This video was 1980 & the Blitz models didn't begin production until 1982 Sting had a fretless Standard 12ver too.
 11.
At the end of the day if you are looking for something out of the ordinary, you need to visit shops which cater for those type of basses such as Bass Direct in Warwick or The Gallery in Camden.
Which is great if you live close enough to the specialist stores to be able to pop in for an hour every now & then. There is nothing on the Gallerys website that would make me even consider making the journey from Cardiff & spending the £100+ the day would cost me for.
 12.
I just realised that with it being anonymous a sh*t stirrer could inflame things by negging posts top wind folk up.
Is that a confession? If so then prepare to have your arse negged out of existence!
 13.
I was feeling guilty, so I voted up one of your previous posts & then I see you've taken your revenge already. This could get messy.
Honestly, that wasn't me who negged you.
 14.
Sorry Rhys - nothing personal, couldn't resist voting that one down
You nasty f***er!
 15. My "Like" number appears to be in freefall. I've had three negs today & I've hardly posted! Is there any way of jumping to the posts that have been negged, as I haven't a clue which ones they are & I'm curious, but not curious enough to trawl through every post I've ever made looking for the offending ones.
 16. I don't even bother looking at basses on the rare occasions I go into in music shops now as it's certain they will have nothing that interests me, just the usual Fender & Musicman stuff, possibly a Rickenbacker or two & then the cheaper derivatives of these makes.
 17. I had a similar issue with my Bogart 5 string. When I got it the strings were far too light for me so I put a set of heavier ones on (45 -135 I think) I had to pull the saddle right back on the B string to get the intonation correct, but it was fine with the lighter strings. Try using a lighter string (maybe a 120) & see how it goes. Also, when checking the intonation I wouldn't play the notes with a pick - you might be generating overtones that can confuse the tuner. Try using the fleshy side part of your thumb & don't play the note too hard.
 18.
BC members should be allowed to like their own posts as long as they click using their left hand after making it numb by sitting on it.
Don't forget to paint the nails on the left hand a nice tarty colour for added excitement.
 19.
You've been negged, bro.
I'm heartbroken.
 20. My "Like" number has gone down - is it possible undo a "Like" after you've given it or does that mean some lowlife pondscum has negged me?
 21.
Hear hear!
Bollocks - I used the wrong "Hear", didn't I? Still think it's a great idea though.
 22.
IMO musical instrument publications are there to inform and introduce instruments and players the readers might not normally come across. You can go into pretty much any musical instrument retailer and try out a Fender bass make up your own mind. Unless you are very insecure you don't need anyone to tell you what to think about them. I'm not saying that they should ignore common products like Fenders completely, but unless they come up with something radically new or different to their well-known products there's no reason to feature more than one in every 100 bass guitar reviews.
Hear hear!
 23. Dug Pinnick from Kings X used to run his Hamer 8 & 12 strings via a crossover that split the frequencies, the highs going to a Fender Twin guitar combo & the lows to an SVT stack.
