1.
Anyone ever worked out the groovy riff at the start of this ? Would love the music/tab of this....one to play with a synth bass effect for sure
I can get pretty much exactly the same sound out of my EBS envelope filter, which is the reason I bought it.
  2.
Yep.
You got it for £300? SERIOUS bargain, even with the neck repair. Nice one!
  3.
What do people think about his vocals though? (Hillage that is, not Allen)
Always liked his voice, suits the material perfectly IMO.
  4. Did you buy the BC Rich Eagle on Ebay?
  5. First gig I ever played was an all dayer in West Sussex. We were on immediately before China Crisis who were headlining so we had a pretty decent sized crowd. All day there had been this crazy drunk woman wandering round the site making a pain in the arse of herself - at one point she walked over to me & kicked me in the back for no reason whatsoever while I was sat on the floor. She quickly became known as "Cider Woman". We were a couple of numbers into our set when I noticed she was standing right in front of my monitor, so when it came to an instrumental bit I went to the front of the stage & struck my best Phil Lynott pose with my bass neck pointing out over her head. Quick as a flash her hands shot upwards & grabbed the neck of my bass & tried to pull me off the stage. I tried to pull the bass away from her but she had a grip like a f***ing tyre fitter! The only thing I could think to do, and I'm very ashamed to admit this, was kick her in the face. Luckily she must have read my mind & relaxed her grip leaving me to go stumbling back across the stage just in time to start singing the next verse of the song.
  6. What sort of five string are you looking for? I've got a Bogart SKC carbon fibre/composite five string I might be up for swapping if you're interested. Probably won't appeal to you if you're a Fender devotee though. There's a thread about it here: http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 I'm in Cardiff too - how convenient is that? (Also only fair to add that if you want something in mint condition this isn't it - it's in very good condition though).
  7. "Still Life" is one of my favourite albums of all time. The first side with "Pilgrims", "Still Life" & "La Rossa" is just superb. Bought the CD remaster a few years back & it's one of the most frequently played things on my ipod.
  8. Has to be Jetglo - ALL sunbursts are ghastly no matter what the make. I had two Jetglo Rics & they looked superb - pity they were sh*t basses......
  9.
Hey maybe I should get a Bongo.... ??
Buy a few of them in different colours & use them as novelty bog seats in your new home.
  10. It's certainly far more enjoyable than watching some boring c*** standing in the background playing root notes on a precision - IMO of course.....

  12. I've written & played bass parts on synths as well as bass guitars for ages & really enjoy it. I personally think that for anything below a bottom E a synth sounds better, even though I've got a pretty nice 5 string bass. I've never heard any kind of synth add-on for a bass guitar that sounds anywhere near as good as a decent keyboard synth does. Used lots of stuff over the years - Moog Prodigy (awesome!), Sequential Circuits Pro One, Roland JP800 & Currently using a Korg Triton LE for all my keyboard stuff.
  13.
If your Spector is the same as the Fender you'll want Switchcraft mono jack sockets like these: http://www.ebay.co.u...55#ht_788wt_952
The Spector probably has a stereo socket (like most active basses) as this acts as the switch for the active circuitry when the lead is plugged in.
  14. Stupidly good price for an awesome bass!
  15.
im not going to say who A is, i cant believe no-one's got it!
It's Ray Brown isn't it? I'm stunned nobody has even taken a guess - where's Bilbo when you need him?
  16. If you're looking for a pointy headed Kahler equipped five string bass this could be just the thing for you: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Carvin-LB75-5-string-bass-guitar-Kahler-tremolo-arm-/110758880455?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item19c9be64c7

    flanger/chorus

I use both - some people say you can get a chorus effect out of a flanger but I've never heard a decent one.
  18.
I think these CIJ basses are up there with the USA made stuff.
Many people, including myself, would say they are far better than the USA made stuff.
I wonder if he will have that guitar with him?
No he won't, as Russ Ballard is nothing to do with The Zombies. Their singer is the rather fantastic Mr. Colin Blunstone.
  20. OK, I'll forgive them this time then. We only got connected up on Friday - there I was expecting great things & it was rubbish.
  21.
WOT has posted in another thread that Virgin are having issues. If your on VM then that could explain it.
Brilliant - I leave TalkTalk because of their sh*t connection/service & go with another provider who also appears to be sh*t. God I hate the internet.
  22.
QUOTE (BB3000S @ May 23 2011, 12:42 PM) Plenty of Sadowsky love here. ...and here...
I'm not one for fender type basses, but that is bloody gorgeous. I even like the tort guard & I usually hate those.
  23. I'm surprised fender don't class that as body chambering & charge another £300 for it.
