1. Give Colin Edwin from Porcupine Tree a listen. They can be quite Floydish but can also be heavy as f***.
 2. Howdy! I'm another Cardiffian. (Can't stand the place personally but there you go.......)
 3. If you want it & you can afford it then buy it. I haven't gigged for 5 years & have absolutely no intention whatsoever of doing so again. Since that last gig I've bought the most expensive load of gear I've ever had. I love my Zons & don't see why I should downgrade my gear just because I'm not in a band anymore.
 4. I'm thinking of getting a Status Graphite neck for my recently acquired Stingray 5. I've played nothing but graphite necks for the last couple of years & although I love the Stingray I just don't like the feel of the wooden neck. Anybody know what a reasonable price would be to ask for the wooden neck (maple/maple) were I to sell it? It's totally mint. Thanks.
 5.
Compare it with American customer service. I e-mailed Avatar Speakers on New Years Day, and got an e-mail back from them yesterday.
I had just as many problems with US companies as with UK ones. I've been trying to get an answer from Musicman customer services for weeks - I'd heard lots about how fantastic their customer services are but I've found them to be completely useless. Zon are the same - bloody hopeless at replying to emails.
I personally have a phone phobia. I hate phones - this stems from a job I once had whereby if my personal line rang it was always a problem, hence I associate phones with problems.
I'm the same. I hate the bloody things. If the phone rings in our house & there's nobody else in then it doesn't get answered. If I have to phone someone for any reason I have to spend 15 minutes or so psyching myself up for it.
 6. You are indeed talking bollocks. (IMO of course).
 7. I've already posted one track, but I'm going to have to add "Hurt in your heart" by John Martyn, played by the Godlike John Giblin.
 8.
Well I'm uploading all my albums to iTunes and have just done Appetite for Destruction by Guns'n'Roses (what an album!) which always makes me want a Fender Aerodyne and a plectrum......
Didn't he use an 80's Jazz Bass Special?
 9.
why do streamers look so good ?
Because it's the only shape they didn't design themselves. Warwicks are the most dog-ugly range of basses I've ever seen.
 10. Kate Bush - "Babooshka" - the mighty John Giblin again.
 11.
Except for the where was the rest of Alison Moyet debate!
Unfortunately she seems to have lost her singing voice too - she sounded like Vic Reeves doing his club singer routine last night .
 12. I thought it was pretty good this year, apart from Vampire weekend & bloody Kylie. Thought The Secret Sisters were fabulous.
 13. From the Shergold website: "The pickup is in effect two mini-humbuckers in the same casing. The stereo effect is derived by putting the pickup coils under the first and second strings on one channel and the third and fourth the other half of the pickup. The main drawback with this arrangement is that in mono mode, the two halves of the pickup are connected in parallel, giving very low output. Common owner alterations to the electronics are to add a toggle switch to flip between parallel and series connection of the windings, and a second switch to bypass the tone and volume network". Hope that helps.
 14. Wouldn't all these things of yours be more suited to the " Performance>Recording" section, where most other people put films of themselves, rather than in the "Gear>Bass Guitar" section? Just a thought.
 15.
Anyone know what John Giblin is doing lately?
I would hazard a guess that he's just celebrated Christmas.
 16. I bought an ex demo EBS combo from them a few months ago & they were fantastic. The one I'd been going to buy got sold whilst I was dithering & they got another one from another shop for me & even knocked another £100.00 off what was already a great price. I found them to be very helpful & very friendly.
 17.
The guy wants to swap for my Modulus..
I bet he does! You'd be a serious mug to even consider it.
 18.
I'd go for the Tokai Pbass......
That's the first thing I thought when I saw the photo.
 19.
I realise it's the CH-12 rather than the B12, but all the sites I've been on in the past year list them as discontinued
The CH12's are very good. I used to have a CH12 & it was bloody great for the money - wish I'd never sold it. I'm a huge fan of Hamer gear - I have owned a lot of Hamer US guitars & am a member of the Hamer forum. I don't think you can buy a better guitar - ludicrously undervalued in this country.
