1. When I woke up this morning I had absolutely no plans whatsoever to buy a bass..... 10 hours later now & I'm the proud owner of this: Double first for me - my first 5 string bass & my first Musicman. It looks like Candy Apple Red in the photo but it's actually a lot darker, sort of a metallic burgundy. Lovely bass, and after 2 years of playing nothing but my Zons it feels very....woody.
2.
No nosh though, not with them teeth.
3.
I bet most will get a lick or a feel from him...
So he's a bit of a slut too is he?
4. I just love this 1980s Fernandes half size Mockingbird bass: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT
5. I should be at the Cardiff gig - really enjoyed the one last year. Have you got the pole dancers supporting you again?
6. REALLY wanted to go to this gig, but I just couldn't get there. I don't drive & the train times meant I would have had to have left well before the end of the gig. I love her first album - it's one of the most regularly played things on my ipod.
7. There hasn't been a music shop in Wales with a decent bass selection since Livewire closed in the 90's. Jaydee, Status, Alembic, Manson, Pangbourn, Steinberger, Wal & many others - it was the best music shop there has ever been in Wales (if not the UK) IMO.
8. Lovely bass! Don't forget to add it to the Zon thread in the "Gear Porn" section, it's been very quiet over there for a while: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=54706
9. Pangbourn definitely did make guitars as well as basses - we had a lovely black telecaster he built along with a couple of his basses in the shop where I used to help out.
10. 1. Put your tuners in the sink. 2. Drink a couple of bottles of red wine. 3. Vomit copiously over the tuners & leave overnight. This exact method stripped the chrome off the plughole in my bathroom sink so it should relic your tuners a treat.
11. I love 'em. One of the best live bands ever IMO. The shows they did at the Garage in Islington in 2001 were incredible. This is the first UK tour of theirs I've missed in ages - just don't have the spare cash at the moment unfortunately.
12. I'm pretty sure he can read music & has some knowledge of theory - as a child he was a chorister at St. Andrews church in Wembley (which at the time Squire was a member was regarded as the best choir in Britain) & would have been required to sight read for this.
13. Couldn't afford synthesisers, and I'd tried my elder brothers electric guitar & that didn't really appeal to me. There's no way my parents would have let me have a drum kit, so it was bass or f*** all really. What my initial motivation was to try & learn to play an instrument I simply cannot remember.
14.
Amazing to think he played keyboards for Barclay James Harvest in the 70s. He looks so young still
15.
I'd be there BUT I'm booked in to see Tony Levin and Steve Gadd round the corner at Ronnie Scott's.
Holy sh*t - my priorities have just changed.
16. So we can expect the £4000.00 limited edition Warwick Stuart Zender/Zingzillas bass anytime now then.
17. Saw them in Cardiff on Monday night - awesome gig & the sound was superb. Rhonda is a hell of a player & has got seriously good stage presence too. She & Narada Michael Walden made a great rhythm section.
18.
With regards to the Tony Iommi SG, I couldn't honestly tell you if it was Gibson or not he was holding in the adverts, but as far as I'm aware, he's played Gibson SG guitars since the start of Black Sabbath.........
A lot of the time, certainly since the late 70s, he's played John Birch & Jaydee SGs, not Gibsons.
19. I go for weeks, sometimes months, without even taking a bass out of its case. I do tend to spend 10 minutes or so every day messing about on guitar though.
20. Very nice. ESPs are superb quality instruments. If I was looking for a Jazz bass I'd be as happy as a pig in sh*t with that.

YES
Rick Wakeman...didn't he play keyboards on Cat Stevens Morning Has Broken?
Yes he did. He also played Mellotron on Bowies "Space Oddity" & loads of other stuff. He apparently took quite a drop in pay when he joined Yes because he was earning so much as a session musician.
Also saw the orchestral tour in 2001 at the NIA. Just found online review of that with people online complaining about not getting Gates of Delirium.
They did The Gates of Delirium when they played Cardiff on that tour. It was awesome.
