1.
Speaking as an unrepentant, dyed-in-the-wool prog rocker, I agree with you 100%. Dream Theater are a horrendous celebration of seemingly endless simultaneous instrumental masturbation, topped off with caricature 80s cheese-rock histrionic squealing. Never before in the course of musical history has any band quite so roundly failed to get the point of the "music" they endeavour to create. Unrelentingly wretched.
I'm so glad somebody else thinks this. I absolutely f***ing DETEST Dream Theatre but because I listen to a lot of prog stuff people automatically think I'll like them. You're totally correct - they completely fail to get the point. That's yank musicians for you - all f***ing technique & bluster with absolutely NONE of the qualities that I love about prog.
2. Back up for grabs as I've just taken delivery of a rather fine EBS Gorm 350ET combo. Now asking for £250.00 Would need to be collected as I don't drive.
3. C.F. Martin made a range of solid body electric guitars & basses in the late 70s - early 80s. They never caught on and weren't around for very long. I'm pretty sure that this ISN'T one of them, though it does look similar to them. Maybe the Japcrap experts can shed some light on it? Just found this, which would indicate it is a Japanese bass: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Guitar-General-...ro-Martin-3.htm
4. I'm a big fan Of Giblins playing too. However, in both the live videos you posted that's not John Giblin playing, it's Alan Thompson. He didn't play on the first Kate Bush album either. On "Wuthering Heights" it's probably David Paton. Kate used a wide variety of bass players - don't assume any fretless playing on her stuff is Giblin, it's just as likely to be Eberhard Weber or Del Palmer. It's definitely Giblin on "Babooshka" & "Breathing" though. Both absolutely brilliant bass parts.
5.
Not if it's a £1M jackpot
It doesn't matter how much the jackpot was - I'd still have to make do with a pooey new bolt-on Vinnie with a crap gig bag instead of yours .
6. If I win any money on the lottery tonight I'm going to be really pissed off.
7. Bump for an awesome bass that I really want but can't afford. The cases for the new Vinnies aren't as good as the one with this bass - they just come with a gig bag now. I think the newer ones may have bolt-on necks too (it says bolt-on on the Zon website), unlike this one which has a lovely set neck.

9. Dynacord gear is serious pro quality stuff We used to sell Dynacord bass amps in the shop I worked in during the 80s - they used to make a 1x15 combo that was absolutely f***ing awesome!
10.
Since some tard's placed a bid rather than hitting the BIN, it'll be around for a week. And I don't expect it'll be any particular bargain either. Jon.
I can't believe somebody placed a bid when the BIN was so good for a Rick. What a f***ing idiot.
11. "Its a non battery instrument with 3 tone settings and volume control knob and a pitchshifter" ??????????????????? That's Carmarthenshire for you................
12.
(my amp is an Ashdown and most engineers I've found do not like the DI output on Ashdowns).
Really? I've had nothing but glowing praise for the excellent quality of the DI whenever I've used my old ABM C110 combo to record or play live.
13.
I replaced the nut on my P bass a couple of months ago and it was a piece of cake. I bought a Tusq one off the web, used the highly scientific method of gently tapping the old nut out sideways with a hammer and a flathead screwdriver, and slotted the new one straight in. Maybe I was lucky that the replacement nut was exactly the right size and needed no sanding down to fit, but it couldn't have been simpler.
Did it have the string slots already cut? If so you were lucky that they didn't need adjusting. Taking the old nut off & fixing the new one in place isn't the tricky bit - cutting the slots properly is.
14. Personally I'd go for a graphite or a Tusq (synthetic ivory) nut. If you don't have any experience of cutting/filing nut slots I'd definitely get it done by somebody that knows what they're doing. It's a very easy thing to get wrong.
15. There's a rather gorgeous Chandler Royale 12 string bass on Ebay at the moment for a very reasonable "£1500 or best offer". http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CHANDLER-ROYALE-USA-...=item4cf0ab79fc Lovely!
16. My custom built early 80s Jaydee Supernatural. The neck was so unstable I spent more time adjusting the f***ing thing than playing it. Sound-wise it was a bit of a one-trick pony too. Did the Mark King thing brilliantly but sounded sh*t for anything else.
17. I've never thought of myself as a musician because I have no musical knowledge.
18. Hello Tom, Forum rules for selling gear say that "You must state a price for your item. Anything without a price clearly stated will be subject to removal".
