1. I know somebody with a Charles Mingus album - does that count as one step?
 2. Hopefully they'll improve his bass sound - it's been bloody terrible since the mid 80s IMO. I don't think he's had a really good sound since he stopped using his Rickenbacker. Never thought much of his farty Jazz bass tone & absolutely hated his Wal sound.
 3. I like a nice bit of flame......
 4. How about searching online for Ships Chandlers? I'm sure there must be some that sell what you need & do mail order. A quick Google found this: http://marinestore.co.uk/west-epoxy-packs.html
 5. Where exactly in Cheshire are you (if this hasn't sold)?
 6. Bump with a fiver off.
 7.
Its theoretically possible (see Michael Manring as the most obvious example)
Remember that Manring uses a Carbon Fibre necked Zon bass - I don't know how successful it would be on a wooden necked bass.
 8.
bear in mind that Lauren Laverne burst into tears when Kenickie appeared on Adam & Joe's "Vinyl Justice" segment of their channel4 show, and she couldn't take them poking fun at some of her record collection. glass houses, eh?
I would have loved to have seen that.
 9. Welcome! I too am a serious Prog/Prog Metal Bore!

 11.
My bass sits below my belt and I've raised the height a lot as I've got older!
Raised the height of what? - your bass or your trousers?
 12.

That's a lovely bit of wood - is it burr walnut? Very well bookmatched too.
 13.
The more I play, the more I wish I had trained properly and got a theoretical musical education, learned all my scales and learned to read properly.
Same here. I have tried again & again to learn to read music but I just don't get it - it's like I have some kind of music dyslexia. Teachers have given up on me. It just doesn't register with me at all.
 14. As the fingerboard is white in your design picture, why not spray it white & lacquer it -it's going to look VERY 80s with that paint job so why not go the whole hog?
I think it'd be worth having a look at that crack, just to be on the safe side...
As the bishop said to the actress...............
 15.
If you want the mwwwaaaa, you need seriously low action and little neck relief.
Not strictly true. If the action is too low the notes will bloom or buzz too much, choking them & not allowing them to ring out. I can have the strings pretty much resting on the fingerboard of my Zon, but it sounds like sh*t. It's very much a juggling act with the action to get the notes to sing just right. "Mwaa" is also dependent on strings - you really need to use roundwounds.
 16.
Interested in a trade for my tonefactor pulp mill?
Thanks for the offer, but I'm after a sale only on this one as I'm trying to clear out what pedals I have left as I just don't use them.
 17. As new MXR 117R Flanger, only used once for about 10 minutes. Boxed with MXR power supply. £80.00 inc. recorded delivery postage.
 18. I never thought I'd see "Alex James" & "Unpretentious" in the same sentence..............
 19. Don't see many of these come up for sale. He was using a couple of these (and his Wal twin neck) when I saw him with Mahavishnu in 1982: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rare-Jonas-Hellborg-...=item45f3183255
 20.
Also, I like Lauren Laverne. She's been there and done that.
Really? Kenickie were a sh*t band who were vaguely famous (if you were a student at the time) for a couple of weeks when it was the in thing to have a female fronted indie band (see Sleeper, Lush & a load of other useless guff from that time). I actually enjoyed the programme, taking it in the light hearted way it was intended. But why have somebody like her, who is so blatantly anti-musician, commenting on a programme about musicians. All she does is sneer, and that's what pisses me off about her. Music was of so little importance to her that she stopped doing it as soon everybody lost interest in her band, and became a (not very good) TV presenter.
 21. Is that a big hole in the covering in the middle photo (under the handle)?
 22.
The only real issue the guitar has is a fair amount of lacquer fogging on the rear and a bit around the top......
That's a common problem with the late 70s SG 1000/2000s - the hardware tends to get really pitted too.
