1.
I don't like live music in pubs either, unless it's jazz. I go to pubs to talk to friends, so a live amplified band playing rock covers would make me pack up and leave immediately.
I'm the same (apart from the jazz bit) - if I want live music I'll go to a gig, if I want to go out for a drink with my mates I don't want to listen to a band playing crap versions of songs I hate while we're trying to talk. If I'm in a pub & a band (or a solo performer for that matter) starts setting up then that's my cue to leave.
2. SKOLS Noodle Bar? I'm sure Twincam will have something to say about that...
3.
Once I'd mastered being able to change chords on the guitar I don't think I ever seriously sat down to work out how to play songs off records or sheet music as I was too busy writing my own.
I'm the same, once I'd reached a certain level of competency I just started just noodling around & coming up with my own stuff rather than learning other peoples stuff. I'm the same with guitar, I can play very few songs by other people, I just don't have the interest in doing it.
4. By listening to records & trying to copy what I heard.
5. Nobody musical in the family, and no support whatsoever from parents. The only time my mother ever referred to me starting to play an instrument was when she said "I don't know why you bother, you'll never be any good". She was equally supportive of everything else in my life. I was glad when she died.
6.
Those bridges alone are upwards of £70
OK, £270 then. I'm not talking about the actual cost, I'm saying that it looks like any one of hundreds of generic £250 basses you can get on Ebay.
7. Looks like it should cost about £250. I seem to recall there was a Korean made Epiphone bass that looked a lot like this a few years ago (probably more than just a few actually).
8.
What do you class as being average though ?
Not being sh*t but not being sh*t hot.
9. Black Rickenbacker 4001.
10.
Trace Elliot 1215SMX combo details H590mm W610mm D 335mm weight 30Kg
Thank you.
11.
Staff in music shops haven't changed much in 60 years.
Neither has the stock.

13. Pictures would be useful.
14. It looks like a £150 copy to me.
15. I hope he hasn't kept it in his shower all this time.
16. I have absolutely no drive, competitive spirit or work ethic whatsoever. I got to the level my bass playing is at now many years ago - to have taken it further would have required far more effort than I wanted to give it. It's not just bass playing, I'm the same with everything & I have to say it doesn't bother me in the slightest.
17.
I've got solid brick walls so shouldn't be an issue....
So have I...
18. Do you have the weight & dimensions for this combo?
19. The hanger is only as good as the wall you attach it to. I had a Hercules wall hanger come away from the wall despite using screws & plugs that should easily have held it. Put a big dent in my Precision & didn't do much for the Strat it landed on either. I only use floor stands now.
20.
I agree although, unfortunately, Ed R was just about the biggest single guitar shop in the States for a while and probably had more influence on the general public than any of the various web forums. He was a very extreme character and, of course, isn't around any more to rant on stuff like this.
He was also a total crook & was known for selling fakes & forgeries of many high end US guitars & basses.
21.
Beware when you retire guys, too much time on your hands and too many temptations on places like this...
Not a problem if you're retired but skint like me.
22. Looks like somebody has painted a turd with Hammerite.
23. I Could happily live without either.
24. I've just got the one bass these days, don't even have an amp.
25. I've bought stuff from US music shops before & never had any problem. What you might want to think about (apart from the VAT & import charges which will add about 25% to the cost of what you are buying & shipping costs) is that the item you buy will most probably not be covered by any warranty outside of the USA so if anything goes wrong with it you're stuffed.
