1. Another great bass player gone - RIP Rob Wasserman.
 2. Is it really a year today? Bloody hell, that's gone quickly.
 3.
Caught the tail end of something called Wolf Alice earlier on.
I've got a friend who's really into Wolf Alice. The first time I heard her mention them I thought she said she was going to see Rolf Harris.
 4. Grew up listening to those first three Lindisfarne albums, and they still get played regularly to this day. A great band and Alan Hull was a superb songwriter.
 5.
Any bassist who can replace Billy Sheehan must be doing something right.
I saw him with Dave Lee Roth after Sheehan left. When it got to Billy's solo part in one of the songs he just stopped playing.
 6. What days/times are you around for the amp to be collected? I have a friend who might be interested in this.
 7.
I had a Maverick with a licensed Floyd clone, and I could never get the top E up to pitch! Never had a problem with the Bigsby on my Gretsch:
Nice Matchless!
 8. I had a Noll in my Bogart SKC five string & I really liked it, and I'm not a big fan of active tone circuits in general.
 9.
Works fine...if your surroundings are completely silent. I'd question its value in a practice room or a gig. It was all over the place when I tried using it, and when I checked against my Zoom pedal, my bass was way out of tune.
I think it goes without saying that you wouldn't use a tuner you can't plug into for tuning anywhere noisy. I tuned an unplugged electric guitar in my bedroom with this app yesterday & it was bang on when I compared it with my Peterson strobe tuner.
 10.
B.C.Rich Accept no substitute!
I'd happily play folk rock on my '79 Mockingbird, and it would sound f***ing awesome too.
 11. Don't know if this has been posted elsewhere, but Boss have released a free TU-3 Tuner app for Android & iOS. Details here: http://www.musicradar.com/news/guitars/boss-goes-mobile-with-free-tuner-app-for-ios-and-android-639415
 12. Possibly Rainbow in Birmingham on 25th if I can be bothered making the trip.
 13. The last time I played bass "properly" was on a recording project & a one-off gig for somebody & that was about three years ago. Since then I've only played guitar, and for the last nine months or so I've played nothing at all.
 14. Wow, that's a fantastic colour! Where is the nasty scratch you mention, can't see it in the photos.
 15.
I watched it and thought it was ok apart from the people who insist on playing acoustic guitar as though it is a set of drums. It was old and tedious 5 years ago and if I never see anyone doing it again it would be too soon.
yeah, that boils my piss too, that & bloody looper pedals.
 16.
Time and again, In reports of instruments being stolen, it seems to be the case that they were left unattended in a vehicle. What are the legitimate reasons for doing this and why do people continue to take such a chance when, presumably, they are aware of the risk of theft?
The reason people do it is because they never think it'll be them who gets their gear nicked.
 17.
Bands come and go but mates is mates.
Which is why I've always thought being in bands with mates is a really bad idea.
 18.
Bruno Mars. Not my usual taste but a great bassline. See above for why!
Never heard of him.
 19. Never heard of it. Who's it by?
 20. I've seen this before & it's superb - better than any Yes version I've ever heard.
 21.
maybe you need to look at finding something new to learn. Transcribe a difficult line, or a solo, or learn a new technique which will make your bass sound different.
Nah, I always hated learning stuff even when I was interested in playing. I played for 37 years & never transcribed anything, if something was too difficult I just didn't bother with it. I've pretty much got rid of all my gear now anyway.
 22.
If on the other hand I pick up the same bass... after eating a massive dinner... that inevitably leads to GAS.
I always find eating a massive dinner leads to GAS... i agree with boredom being a trigger for GAS. I haven't picked up a guitar or bass for more than a minute or two since last September. I have no desire whatsoever to do anything musical but this has left a massive & very boring hole in my life. Despite not wanting to play I am still spending hours every day looking at Ebay & the for sale ads on here. No sense to it whatsoever.
 23.
There is no such thing as bad music, just opinion.
You've never heard anything I've written, it's f***ing terrible.
 24. Best bass amp I ever owned was one of these, superb little combo.
 25.
If he didn't rate his band then why not just fire them? My admiration for Rich just went down.
Apparently he used to fire his bands all the time, then re-hire them again. There's an interesting chapter about working with Buddy Rich in Tony Levin's excellent book "Beyond The Bass Clef".
