1. It doesn't really bother me. I always buy Hiscox cases for my guitars & basses anyway as the majority of branded cases are crap IMO. Fender tweed cases are impractical, heavy, badly balanced things anyway - the first thing I did when I got my CIJ Precision was get rid of the tweed case.
2. I don't really have any "must-haves", only "must-nots".
3. If it's not being amplified then most players wouldn't regard it as a problem.
4. Finding a pick that suits you if the most difficult thing, I've been using picks on bass & guitar since I started playing & I'm still trying different ones. I have found that, contrary to what I first believed, really thick picks are not that good. I started using thinner but rigid carbon nylon picks a few years that I really liked but I now use Pyramid cellulose picks in medium & heavy gauges & I really like these. I love these but unfortunately they are very difficult to find. I've always found thumb picks to be more trouble than they're worth. Don't get too hung up on how you hold the pick. I always found that the pick naturally rotates in my grip so that I end up using one of the rounded corners rather than the pointed bit. It used to bother me until I found out that's how Pat Metheny holds his picks - if it's OK for Pat it's OK for me.
5. Seems a bit cheeky to me seeing as they're a cover band as well.
6. A friend of mine used to have one exactly the same as that in the mid 80s, it might even be the same one.
7. I would have snapped this up days ago if I wasn't so far away.
8. I used to have one of these - great bass.
9. Forgot to mention the Warwick Corvette, which I think is the ugliest bass I've ever seen.
10.
I genuinely don't get the over-priced thing.
"Overpriced" = "Can't afford it" in the majority of cases.
11.
I don't have a list of specific things I hate, I think some things, like single cuts & fancy woods, work on some basses better than others. Having said that I saw this the other day, http://fodera.com/anthony-jackson-presentation/ Which as far as I'm concerned is very nearly through the far end of the spectrum of ugly & in danger of emerging out the other side.
That is what I would refer to as a "Turd on a stick".
12. I'm always happy to blather on about stuff I don't like as I have a very deep well to draw from.... As far as basses go: Sunburst finishes Tort scratchplates Blocks & binding on necks. The metal control plate on Jazz basses Jazz basses generally Spalted wood tops Burl wood tops Single cutaways That stupid, tacky, cheap looking butterfly logo that Fodera use Hofner violin basses PJ pickup arrangements Oil or wax finishes on neck and/or body Candy apple red finishes White finishes I'm sure there's more...
13. Colin Moulding used an Epiphone Newport & a Wal. I can only take their earlier stuff in small doses before it starts to irritate me. Skylarking, however, is one of my favourite albums ever.
14. I wouldn't buy anything from him just for saying "Everything is cool bro".
15. Acoustic bass guitars are a waste of time for open mic type things, you just won't be heard over the other instruments.

Ken Smith help
Possibly. Or go and buy one
Where are you going to find a Ken Smith in York at this time of night?

Ken Smith help

Could you not google a picture of a Ken Smith bridge & pickups, zoom it to life size it & take measurements from that?
18. I thought it was John Cooper Clarke & his pet orangutan.
19. Bloody hell, is that Weller?
20.
What is it about rock stars and waving guns about!!?
You left out one very important word in that sentence - "American"
21.
The SB1000 and the Wal will never leave.
I used to say that about my Zons. They're both gone.
22.
I never understood this point of view, the Beatles were a great band, with lovely melodies and harmonies, Oasis are a shouty light rock band (fro meatheads), apart from the hair cuts I don't think they're alike at all
I've never understood it either, comparing Oasis to The Beatles is like comparing a turd on a paper plate to a gourmet dinner in a Michelin Restaurant (and I'm no Beatles fan).
23. A friend of mine who has seen pretty much every legendary loud rock band you can name still reckons that the loudest band he ever saw was OMD in a small venue on one of their first tours.
