1. You've done a fantastic job there, nice one!
 2.
Never would have thought of Magazine as a prog band (not sure I do now!), what makes you think of them as prog? I've seen early Simple Minds included in prog rock conversations but never Magazine. Edited to say, I've just revisited The Light Pours Out Of Me and I'm shifting my stance!
Listen to "Back to Nature" from "Secondhand Daylight" - totally prog, even the bass part sounds like Chris Squire.
 3.
Discipline by King Crimson
Definitely a strong contender for the title.
 4.
For my money, the essential difference with prog. was that, unlike most other genres, it was essentially 'English', not blues based and not dance orientated. Adding stuff around epic fantasy, mellotrons and long solos was peripheral. It is music that is generally less 'groove' orientated and more cerebral. The fact that there was no expectation that I would have to dance to it was a major attraction
The lack of blues influences was the main thing that I loved about prog, that and the "Englishness" of it, the same reasons I love traditional English folk music.
 5.
....but would you consider Six by Mansun to be prog-rock?
Absolutely I would. I cannot listen to much of the 70s prog I loved for years anymore, it bores me to death. Six, however, is an album I still play regularly. It ticks all the Prog boxes for me but doesn't sound like it was made by a bunch of drippy upper middle class university boys. I would also class Magazine as a prog band.
 6. Ghastly looking thing - the Epi Jack Casady is much nicer IMO.
 7.
I compose on a hand-held device. It's called a guitar.
Beat me to it.
 8.
Can you imagine Jagger singing - I'm fixing a hole where the rain comes in _ _ _ _
He'd probably fix the hole by shoving a Mars Bar in it....
 9.
Richards also thinks Led Zeppelin are cr4p.
And I'd have to agree with him.
 10. To be honest I don't want to hear any instrument play a solo - certainly wouldn't bother me if I never heard another guitar solo again.
 11. No, I buy everything online....
 12.
You Sir, are everything I aspire to be.
Are you quite sure about that?
 13. I played a gig in a run down old venue once. When we started playing we had a decent crowd but by the time we'd finished there was NO ONE THERE! Spooky.....
 14. It's just personal preference. I always found the more options I had on a bass the more time I spent farting around with them & obsessing about my sound.
 15. If it's got a passive pickup & the EQ is active then the bass should just sound like a normal passive bass when the active circuit is switched off. I would say however that more options does not necessarily make for a better bass, in my experience at least.
 16.
I dunno. I was born in 52 as well and I was sick of the Beatles by 1965.
I was born in 1965 & I was sick of the bloody Beatles by 1965.
 17.
You're only as good as your drummer- the Beatles are the greatest band ergo Ringo is the greatest drummer. •Runs for cover•
But you had to be there.....
 18.
But not on the back of the CD apparently!
It's inside the booklet, but it's a very small picture & you can't make out the bass very well.
 19. I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty certain that is one of Peggy's Rob Armstrong basses. He was definitely playing Rob Armstrong basses around this time. He's holding it in the back cover photo on Richard Thompsons "Hand of Kindness" album.
 20. Always use LaBella Slappers on my Zons when I had them. Tried GHS Boomers on my Bogart when I had that & they were pretty good too.
 21. Out of all of those I'd think the PA would be best.
 22.
The outer winding on the G is coming unraveled and so the string sounds totally dead.
Did you follow the fitting instructions correctly? As they are on round cores they will unravel if you don't fit them properly.
 23. The seller, Music-outlet-shop, has tons of crap like that on Ebay. I'd be surprised if they've ever sold anything.
