Since I stopped playing I've started enjoying listening to music a lot more again. Most of the music I listen to these days doesn't have any bass on it anyway.

As the hot spell isn't meant to last very long I'd leave adjusting it for a few days & see what happens. If you adjust it now you might well just have to adjust it back again soon anyway. Does the buzz actually come through the amp or does it just sound like that when you play the bass acoustically?

According to the latest news for her official source she is able to speak OK but is having trouble moving.

World's greatest rockstar - not Kanye, but who tho?
RhysP replied to bassbiscuits's topic in General Discussion
Depends on your definition of 'rock', really. To me a rock star is someone who performs rock music. Those you mention do not.
Indeed, those sort of people are more what used to be termed "Playboys" to my way of thinking. But I am old & irrelevant. -
50 Greatest Bass Players - Can We Do A Better Job - Change of Plan
RhysP replied to Mykesbass's topic in General Discussion
I think the problem is that as soon as people start posting their favourites people will start chipping in with "how can you say xxxxx is one of the greatest when xxxxxx hasn't been mentioned?" The jazzers will start sneering at the rock/metal guys, the funk guys will start sneering at everyone else & that's how it will continue. Unfortunately that's the problem when trying to compile lists of something that is completely subjective, and when everyone thinks that they've got better taste than everyone else. For instance, I could write a list of 100s of what I would consider "great" bass players (i.e. I personally like what they do) & I can guarantee that Mick Karn won't be on there. Can't stand him, never could, but he's worshipped by large numbers of people on here. -
So seeing as this post has less than 0.5% of the interest of the Alternative Rock Fact File I'll take it there is insufficient interest in doing our own poll
For what it's worth I am completely baffled by the popularity of the Alternative Rock Fact File thread.... -
Very sad news. A massive influence on me for many years. RIP Chris.
My word, Florence is having a duff night. We've got the radio on, and she keeps being horribly, painfully flat and then screeching unbearably in between songs.
She always sounds flat to me.
Good evening one and all, I wan to start playing Jazz standards properly, whether that be in a band or at a Jam night etc but is it a cardinal sin to play an electric bass? Put it another way... Am i going to be sneered and spat at by the Jazzer elites?
I wouldn't worry about it, if you're playing jazz there won't be anyone watching anyway....
Did anyone else hear an Oom-pah** version of La Villa Strangiato in the interval? ** as in German brass band, not Oompah Loompahs. At how many other gigs does one need to make this distinction?
Sounds like the one from one of the Rush tour videos a few years back.

The closer to the bridge the more the top end response will be, but I don't think it matters which bit of the pickup is on which side (Feel free to correct me anybody). Some basses, like the earlier Yamaha BB series, had the P pickups around the other way, with the part under the lower two strings closer to the bridge.
-
A single inline pickup, like a jazz bass pickup, usually tends to be single coil. A split Precision pickup is a humbucker, albeit one wired in series rather than the more usual parallel. I think the split thing was also done to help emphasise the higher frequencies on the top two strings as well.

Interesting article on state of things at Gibson
RhysP replied to bassbiscuits's topic in General Discussion
Played a newish Gibson Hummingbird a few weeks ago & it was a piece of sh*t. Even the guy that owned it said so & had gone back to using a Takemine that cost a quarter of the price. -
Selling my Markbass Mini cmd 121p combo as it's just sitting here not being used. Very good to excellent condition, some of the rubber on the handle is a bit split where it meets the brackets but other than that it's in great nick. Comes complete with black/yellow soft cover. Combo is dated 11-2005 so it's definitely an Italian made one. I bought it secondhand about two years ago, and have only used it for one gig. It's a superb amp but I just don't play bass much anymore & I'll certainly never gig again. Now asking £350.00. Collection from Cardiff only please. No trades please. Save yourself years of time, fiddling & frustration & go back to using a passive bass as soon as possible.....

Selling my recently acquired Epiphone Jack Casady as, apart from cleaning it & putting new strings on it, I haven't touched it since I got it. Very good to excellent condition. There is a hairline crack in the pickup surround. The only real marks on it are where the previous owner stuck larger white dots on the side of the neck. I don't know what they stuck them with, but whatever it was has eaten into the finish a bit, so there are small circular marks on the upper edge of the fretboard. They are very slight (couldn't get them to show up on a photo) but wanted to be as accurate as possible in my description of the bass. This is one of the earlier Korean models. Comes complete with Epiphone hardshell case, which is structurally sound but does have some rips, scuffs & tears in the covering material. Strung with a new set of Newtone round wounds. Looking for £280.00 collected from Cardiff. Not interested in any trades. Plenty of opportunity for hecklers with this song too - "This is the end...." "THANK f*** FOR THAT!" etc.
