1.
Great that Allan Davies is endorsing them
...aaand that'll be Sebo! He's the DV Mark Product manager, and a really genuine, nice guy and musician. He has a thing about cows, all his guitars look like Friesians http://www.fago-cablepro.com/ibanez/ibanez-rg-custom-22-cow-sebo-by-fabio-molinelli/
2.
A cross between the MultiAmp and an LMK. The 2 channels will go down well.

Might be a daft newbie question, but what is the benefit of two channels?
I have no idea how I missed this thread! OK, so the guitar one is slightly different to the bass one, but they both have two distinctly separate channels (you could plug in two basses/guitars, with same/different settings on each!). On the guitar one, you can toggle between channels, but on the bass version you can also blend them, so you could have a nice clean LM3 or Trace Elliot on Ch1 and a nice grungy Tech21 or Ampeg on Ch2 and layer the sounds with the "mix" pot; Jaco and notable others were doing this waaay back with multiple heads/cabs, now you can do it yourself in one small box. On both models, using the software, each channel can be loaded with any of the amp models in either channel, so you could use the channel switch to have different tone/gain settings with the same amp model. As for other functionality, the MB one has a selection of six effects (Compressor, Chorus, Octave, Envelope Filter, Reverb, Delay), which again can be pre-loaded and customised using the software, the effect knob then controls the % of effect verses clean. The guitar version differs that there is a choice of two reverbs. Using the midi footpedal you can switch/blend channels, toggle effects and there is also a boost switch (as well as toggling the Tuner/Mute). This configuration effectively can give you up to 4 levels of gain/drive if you need it. It really is a nice bit of kit. Its comfortably half way between an LM3/Tube 500 and a Multiamp, but not really "in place' of either. Yes, lots of knobs, but actually very simple to use. Joss at GAK just did this review of the Guitar one:- https://youtu.be/ImwCO7J09iE Suffice to say, he loves it! The Markbass version is going to be reviewed in Bass Guitar Magazine imminently.
3. I have a Lakland DJ5 incoming, so need to clear the herd a bit, so this beauty sadly needs to go. I bought this here a year ago, and those who own them will undoubtedly agree these are really useful and very playable basses. I bought it with the intention of using it as a spare and ended up using it most of the time. Its in really good condition, you'll see from the pics it has some very slight hazing on the scratchplate, and a tiny mark on the body next to the jack, as you can see in the pics below. but other than that its very tidy. It is currently loaded with a J-retro but this is not included, and being swapped out for the original passive bell plate and controls. It has, however, just been fitted with a brand spanking new set of Elixir Nanowebs (45-130's) and given a good setup, and it plays beautifully. The price of £240 includes a Ritter Gigbag, and I am happy to ship it in the UK, deliver it if you're nearby (Devon/Somerset border, near Taunton), or you could pop in for a cuppa when you collect it (I usually have some nice Markbass toys here to play with to make the trip worthwhile)! 4. A quite Sunny, but not quite as sunny as yesterday, Saturday Bank Holiday weekend type bump!
5. Its a rainy bump in Devon! Clearly you need cheering up with an amazing new amp!
6. I really love the idea of a Sandberg, but they are generally on the heavier side of what my poor back can cope with all night(!), what does this weigh please?
7.
Thanks Mike for all the hard work, really well organised and as someone has already said very civilised. The food was really excellent too, many thanks to your family and friends for doing that for us.
Absolutely. Well said! Well done all! Cracking day!
8.
Will bring an extension reel & a 4 way for power supply.
I will too...
9. OK, so it looks like I will mostly be bringing the following Markbass:- Alain Caron K1 Combo Ninja 102-250 Combo EVO 1 Head Mono Multiamp TRV121h TRV151p Basses: Lakland 55-02, Squier VM Jazz 5 with J-retro, my Squier Affinity Jazz 5 Fretless project I can probably also bring my 1982 JV '57 Precision (big Fender, small Squier) if anyone particularly wants to see it, and I might be able to get hold of an early DJ5 Skyline too? Oh, and some vials! I also have a studio full of DV Mark guitar amps/cabs which I could bring a selection of, if anyone wants to see anything to do with twangy stuff?
10. why do these come up (particularly so locally!!!) when I have no money... bring it to the SW bash in Taunton on the 2nd and I will probably mortgage a kidney and rip it from your arms...
11. I need the cash, and this gone. £100 posted. a bit of a steal really considering its condition....
12. I'm not after anything else at the moment, so sale rather than trade please!
13. This is my second G30 setup, as they are so damned good and reliable. I have had this one for six months or so, and I decided to go rack mounted and upgrade to a G55, so, it is in perfect working and cosmetic condition, I have put velcro on the receiver, which I can either leave on or remove. Its complete in its original packaging. The transmitter is also in perfect condition. The lead is new/unused, as I've always used a Planet Waves Cable Station right angle lead with a latching mute switch (I swap between fretted/fretless basses during gigs, and with this you can easily mute between songs), which I will also include in the sale. It looks new and complete in its original packaging, so I haven't photographed it, as it looks like a stock new one (currently £170 Street price with most good UK based online retailers), but if you would like pics I would be more than happy to oblige. The price includes postage to anywhere in the UK.
14. For the Raffle, I have persuaded MSL to put up a Bass Keeper, a Mark Stand, and an ULTRA rare Markbass wristband. The wrist bands are quite special, as they have fairly magical abilities. They can do this:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6cQ_ii_cow
15. I have to say, I was far more frustrated by it taking me over 40 minutes just to get out of the multistorey car park (oh, and for it costing £64!!), and another 40 minutes to get my van to the load bay to bundle everything in and get on the road! I don't think I have ever seen so many 40 to 70 year old knitters, precicion sorting/loading 3 Ikea bags of wool into their Nissan Micra and blocking the area for everyone else!
16.
... Sims, Ernie Ball & Anaconda decided to split the 15min in to 5 min each so they didn't drown each other out. Worked ok, but they were still getting drowned out by Proamp on the other side of the hall !
As said, we do all do get together and try our best to make it work. Overall its a relatively small space, so I'm sure sometimes even Markbass, in the opposite corner of the hall disturbed people trying basses with Simms, Earnie Ball and Anaconda, and vice versa. At its loudest its never "one player" trying to drown everyone out, but a cumulative low frequency din. For next year's guitar show we are looking to demonstrate DVMark gear using loadbox/cab simulators and headphones, but as has already been mentioned here, thats not so easy at lower frequencies, and people still want to hear "how loud can something that small really go..?". So maybe we also just to accept that, hey, its a bass show for heaven's sake... We'll do what we can, but it is going to be a bit of a din!
17. Of course I knew you'd be all over that one! x haha! it seems completely wrong to suggest that might be a "Single cut"! More like a multi cut!
18.
Regarding the 15 minute quiet period, Couldn't you insist all exhibitors with noisy things to plug them using timed sockets so they just turn off at a set time? Just an idea.
I was on the MSL (Markbass) Stand all weekend. Hi to all who came and said hello, and a big pat on the back to everyone who manned the Basschat stand.. a job well done! I have only just about lost the ringing in my ears! I love the bass community, what a great and friendly bunch we all are! ...and whoever said that the manufacturers and exhibitors all seem to get on and work together is absolutely right, its great to work among you all - it was the same at the Birmingham Guitar show the week before. Everyone willing, helpful and positive. I also agree with an earlier comment that, while there was some truly amazing craftsmanship at the show, there was not a lot of the stuff you might want to use playing the local pub gig, and indeed the likes of Promenade were rushed off their feet. Funnily enough I had my quite excellent, but cheap, Squier VM Jazz on the stand, and a number of people just wanted to try that out, because it was probably the only Squier in the vicinity! The noise is a indeed a big problem, but not necessarily for the reason most would immediately think of... Every year the manufacturers have many dozens of people who want to come to the show to try out the various options of heads, cabs, combos, possibly because their local music shop isn't stocking a big enough selection. With only 15 minutes every hour to make any kind of noise (and believe me, in spite of the din, it was policed VERY closely - this year we all tried very hard to play the game, I assure you!), it is very hard to fit in all the people who want to make some serious decisions, particularly when the manufacturers also have to fit in demonstrations from their endorsee artists... the result? The guy says "....may I compare the Traveller 102p against the 121h please? ... sorry, can't hear much, need more volume...", they turn it up, and so does the excellent Cody Wright, the amazing Remco Hendriks, the fantastic Joey Grant, etc, etc, and for 15 minutes it all gets painfully out of control. The ear splitting airhorn shatters through the racket, and the levels thankfully plummet... and then the guy says "... now, can I just try that with the extension cab plugged in while I still have any chance of hearing it..." wouldn't you, when looking to part with hundreds of quid? I know I would... Ohh, it was you! Well, I'm happy to help, while keeping it as quiet as possible, and I'm really sorry if anyone else was inconvenienced. But that's sort of what these shows are for, isn't it? I'm not sure what the solution is, maybe having a lot more smaller demo rooms, but that wouldn't really be possible at Olympia, and trying to install sound level control equipment which cuts the power wouldn't work, and risks damage to a lot of expensive gear. However, the issue was definitely well noted and accepted by the organisers, so hopefully a more comfortable solution will be found. I can't wait to see your photos. Did anyone get a pic of that amazing Rikkers with the ash(?) body and pale blue pickups/neck? Did anyone buy it?! Amazing piece of work.... I heard Marc Vanderkley (he's a bit good too!) giving it a workout and it sounded awesome too! I also heard someone suggest that with all the holes in it, without trousers on, it might be possible to play it hands free....!!!
19.
Classic vibe jazz bass- scratch that, it's a black pick guard... I'm gonna say a Marysyzuaxksksixk (or whatever), with East preamp, fancy pants pickups and hip shot ultralites. Can you just post me the £5? I can't afford your amp.
Nice try! You're correct... about the J-Retro, but wrong with everything else! Anyone else?
20. Pre-LBGS type bump! If you're going, you'll be able to try this out with virtually every MB cab combination possible!
21. Bring it to the SW bash in April. I'll do the same with my Softstep!
