1. I noticed a post on the facebook DV Mark Multiamp page asking for Multiamp ambassadors and for people to contribute and share patches, so hopefully one day they will invite the bass players too!
 2.
I don't general read those mags, they don't really go deep into things do they ?
I thought my review was better - yes it was a bit shallow really, and not a very helpful conclusion...
 3. Another new review of the Multiamp is in this month's Bass player Mag. Handily Markbass have put it on their own site:- http://markbass.it/u...SS%20PLAYER.pdf
 4.
I think if they released a preamp version of this, I would be all over it as I already have an LM3, then all i would need to do is sell off my pedals.
... So all you have to do is sell off your pedals AND the LM3, and jobs a good-un with the benefit that it's all in one box...! 😀
 5.
Well since all the effects and the amp sims are probably handled by a single dsp I doubt there much of a saving to be made from omitting the amp sim. There might be mileage in producing a preamp only variant though.
yup, thats what I was thinking too....
 6. I am given to understand they are good - worldwide both guitar and bass versions...
 7.
Yeah but it's too big though, I want everything in a LM3 box!
To a degree I do actually agree with you! In addition to the NanoMark 300 they have also launched a new Little Mark "Ninja" range, bright green with 1000w head and cabs, when in fact they perhaps could have launched an "LM4" with the features discussed. However, they are in the business of selling stuff, and this would most definitely dent multiamp sales, a product which is already in production, and they would need to review whether this was worse than losing potential LM3 sales to other manufacturers because the product is missing built in compression...
 8.
I don't "need" it yet but I reckon once the function band gets really busy it'll definitely be worth investing in one.
Lets face it, how many of us here really "need" any of the expensive boutique gear (how many brands/versions of bass dedicated distortion pedals can you buy now? Thankfully thats a journey I have never embarked on!) that we often GAS for or use? I don't really think "this" is about need or desire, its about simplification, in the same way that Lemmywinks suggested - its a simple, one box, rack mounted solution. And, in answer to Lemmywinks and Pfonck334's comments I think the main reason that the Bass MultiAmp is in its current form is that it is a solution which, with a different paintjob and software provides a single solution which addresses the desires of both us and our guitarist friends. I also don't "need" the multiamp, and would also have been all over a MB amp with built in compressore, distorsore and tuner. but then, thinking about it, I also occasionally use delay. oh, and chorus. ... and sometimes some octave.... and its useful to have a couple of other different amp models... circle closed. Also, the LMIII retails for around £395, an MB7 distorsore £210, a compressore £140, and along with the a Chorus/Flanger was about £250, you all of a sudden can afford a Multiamp... and look at all the other goodies you get with that...
 9.
I wonder if they've thought of a stripped down micro head version, like a LM3 with a tuner, distosore and compressore integrated. I would definitely buy that!
They did launch a new little micro amp at Frankfurt, but don't think it has any built in effects though.... Just checked, no effects. Pretty impressive though. Its called the Nano Mark 300 and is only 20cm wide!
 10. Haven't heard anything other than - "when its ready, they've got to get it right..." beginning to feel the DV Mark guitar version is their priority; they've had their new firmware for a few weeks now...
 11.
Here are my Lovely Wal's! My Wal Pro Bass SN W3148 not sure the date, 80's I think, Will have to see Dave's posts it is all there... I always wanted a Pro bass Fretless (pickup near the bridge) but couldn't find one in the colour I wanted then "goblin" ( Dave) on here was selling his but a fretted! Never mind you can't have them all! With a trade in and cash I now have one!! Would never of even looked at a Pro if it wasn't for some Road shows I was engineering on 10 years ago (I'm a sound tech) The House band "bass player had a Pro fretless and a streamer, PFL the Wal OMG every time it was played just captivating to listen to! So from then I just had to have one! He nearly sold me his but he couldn't part from it! Don't blame him! Still thinking of De-fretting it.... As for the Mk2, Well Seemed like the Best progression, plus i wanted to see what a Pro would sound like on steroids.... haha Only had this about 2 weeks, I purchased it off W11ATO "Rob" Lovely chap! when I noticed it on his FB page. The next day I was taking it home! He had allot of interest, Sorry guys if it was you... I have to say it is like New!! It is a Mk1 SN W2635 Nov 85. " Brazilian Mahogany" Core, English Olive Ash Faces, Indian rosewood FB. Well that's what the Cavity cover states The bass is Immaculate! I can't find as much as a blemish or a scratch! It should be in a museum! No fret wear at all! Must of just been left in a wardrobe for the last 30 years!! Rob did play it, but didn't know who the previous owners were. Anyone here? The only thing I had to completely strip the bridge down as every saddle adjuster was seized. But all good now! New strings, Battery was good but I changed it anyway! I do plan on gigging the bass, it won't sit around doing nothing now!
That Olive Ash one looks just like my old one!!!! I do hope so! I cannot remember the serial number, but the dates tally and I have pics, and will post asap!! I cannot remember if I marked this one too, but my fretless had "KGF" scratched in the black coating in the control cavity...
 12.
How have you guys found the compressor on the multiamp?
The compressor is modelled on the MarkBass Compressore, which is a brilliant compressor. I used to have one. If I have time I will upload a screenshot of the control options for ya...
 13.
....It is why older people feel alienated by the younger generation as they will also define themselves by adapting and adopting idioms to their own use.
I'm from the older generation and still playing bass - I don't feel alienated or defined. I must say I do prefer to play my bass with margarine though... or with Jam and cream or is it cream then jam. Its a county thing, I think... time for a nice cup of Horlicks.
 14.
Yes, you can access it, but you would still need to look at the screen on the Multiamp to see what your doing. A screen/read out on the pedal would have been useful. It doesn't look like you can monitor your tuning from the pedal its self. A video demo of the pedal would be good. Potentially there are other very similar products to control the MIDI functions already in the market place. A pedal that can take centre stage (so to speak) and control + monitor all functions of the Multiamp would be great.
Here are a couple of videos from the DVMark site. The functionality will be pretty much identical for the Bass Multiamp:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3USVGyYcISY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwQ11A-DJ7w
 15.
Looks like theres no display for the tuner; I was hoping this would be incorporated in to the MIDI pedal. The tuner on the Multiamp is good, but not much use when its behind me. Looks like I'll be sticking to a pedal tuner. A little disappointed.
Yup, I'm not going to go for the MB MIDI Pedal but stick with my SoftStep, as it offers so much more than on/off switches, and the lack of tuner on it is a spoiler too. I now have my Korg PitchBlack and G30 receiver on a tiny pedalboard, which sits next to my SoftStep... I can't be doing with turning my back on the audience when I need to tune! Could really do with the V3 sofware now!!
 16. Interestingly I spent the weekend doing the FOH sound for a Festival this weekend, and we used my new MA rig as the amp for 13 of the 14 bands. We had a huge variety of bands, from metal to dub/skank/reggae and a queen tribute, so it was great to be able to hear the variety of sounds it produced from the audience perspective; they were all really effective, from clean punchy Trace Elliot and GK sounds to my fave which was the dub/reggae band... The guy was playing a precision, so we set it up as a TTE, dialled in loads of colour, and I pumped up the bass in the PA - it sent tangible physical waves of bass through the audience*... bloody lovely! The bassist in "Decoy Jet" also used his hollow body Fender through the TTE, and it sounded very like the punchy warm sound the guy in "The Strypes" has. Irrespective of the chosen setup, the MA delivered rich quality throughout. The only duff bass sound we had for any of the bands was one guy who insisted he couldn't use it, as he preferred the sound of his Orange 4x10 rig... it just sounded muddy... Sorry if you're on BC and you're reading this, but we really did try our best to get you a great sound... * admittedly we were pushing about 10k of bass through 12 x 18" tuned subs, so that helped quite a lot!
 17.
With the softstep as a controller, does it only allow patch changes or can you use it to change the filters, like a expression pedal? (If that make sense)
We are still waiting for the new V3 software (this week hopefully!) to see what that adds, but at the moment it seems to be limited to patch change and turning slots on and off. In the guitar version I know they have added the ability to assign specific switches to an "effect" rather than a "slot", which is intelligent because it means that if you use say, distortion, in several patches but have them in different positions in the signal chain, you can keep the effect on the same pedal wherever it is in the chain. It is currently possible to assign a volume pedal, and I would also like to see it have the ability to add expression to effects...
 18.
Ah OK, great then..that's what I meant ...I only wanted to know if there's a way to mix both signals so you are not only running an effected signal.
...and on the same patch you can have multiple layers of the same effect in different slots all with different settings if you wanted; whether to create a specific texture, or to switch in different intensities for solo's etc, (using a footswitch, obvs!) within the same patch. I've created a couple of patches like this...
 19.
I pretty much always have some clean signal running/blended with the effect/s I'm using...
Well, you'll be fine with the distortion module then, but isn't this a bit the same as a wet/dry mix? If so, all the effects have either this, or an effect level control...
 20.
....blend is quite important for my needs
If you can clarify how/what you need it to do, and on what type of effects, I can have a play...
 21. Every effect has a wet, dry, mix or level, and on quick glance the B-Drive 21 distortion specifically also has a Blend and Presence... Maybe others too, will check later!
 22.
In many ways this amp is over kill , but I am throughouly enjoying the effects
Though I would ask, how many of our bass acquisitions are not overkill? hehe! A pedal will be essential when you need to turn an effect on and off during a song... the time will come! At around £200ish the MB one looks pricy, this would also probably do the job nicely, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Behringer-FCB1010-/181726263974?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2a4fbabaa6, but nothing can beat the Softstep IMHO, and it looks great on stage with all its backlights on!
 23.
The only tweak id like to see so far is the mute/tuner button over riding all . It doesn't work if your just in user preset menu mode , you have to be displaying the patch settings . This is a shame as during a gig I only need to be in user menu mode and scroll up and down for each preset
Also, you'll be investing in a MIDI pedal in no time so you can patch change with your feet, I feel sure...
 24. Yes, I agree that is annoying, but I suspect they would argue that in the preset menu you are not in the "home" screen. Funnily enough I still haven't ditched using my trusty Pitchblack Tuner. I just posted a pic of my rig on the review post, and you'll see it there, mounted on my baby pedalboard, which just has this, and my L6 G30 wireless. I am thinking of mounting my MA in a 4u case, so that I can rack mount my in-ear and instrument wireless gear and ditch the pedals completely, except for my MIDI pedal... a true one box solution!
 25. I meant to post this.... The V3 software is due in the next day or so, if there is anything of significant note I'll add it here...!
