Crikey give us a chance! Just finished work and about to settle down to suss it all out... Does anyone know how I'm going to be able to set up a foot switch to toggle the vocal reverb between numbers? Doing it by hand on a phone/tablet just isn't going to cut it so I'm guessing something else I'll need to buy...

Well, I have been reticent to get too excited or post anything before it arrived, but.... I have just taken delivery of my new Behringer X32 Producer, for which I paid £1111 including delivery, which was £430 less than the best price I could find anywhere else!!!! I bought it here:- http://www.dhwelectronics.com/Digital_Mixers_004000600035/ZB794_Behringer_X32_Producer_Digital_Mixer It is UK stock/spec, with full Behringer warranty, and it even came with the USB recording interface installed. Ordered Friday, delivered Tuesday by DPD. I am still struggling to understand how they can afford to sell so flippin' cheap, but heyho thats not my problem! Their website says this deal is available until 7th March, which it this Friday, so you'll have to be fairly quick! The Compact is £1478 (£260 less than the best price I can find anywhere) and the full X32 is £2070 (£130 less), so the better deals are on the smaller format desks, but still a great price.... Can't wait to have a play later, but back to work for now!!

Why was nick standing in the plastic bag in the first pic?
I doubt it, I went to the Birmingham show.....
These shows cost an absolute shedload to exhibit, its not just the stand space you need to think about and most companies like Fender/Ashdown/Gibson/etc, will most likely only have the resources (both financial and physical; POS info, stands, logistics, staffing etc.) to do one show at a time. If I was Fender UK, as a business decision I would have favoured the guitar show too... much as I would defend the bass community, the guitar show will have had much more footfall.
That's great news. The X32 is a great piece of kit and if you are getting it at the right price, even better. I think it'll bring a big smile to your face once you start assigning some effects to your in ears - and I think you'll love the ability to fine tune your mix with eq etc.
Can't wait! I've bought a new router already! I have also read somewhere on their support forum that the X32 still talks to Logic8/Mac on PPC, so looking forward to testing the theory that it will also allow me to postpone the need to upgrade my studio G5 for a little while longer, as am now feeling a bit skint!

I've just ordered an X32 Producer from a company charging the same as most peoples' +Vat prices, I hope its not too good to be true, and my credit card has just been raped! I paid £1111 where GAK/etc are asking £1550 ish. They are offering the whole range at stupid prices until 7th March. Message me if you want details!
Mojoke, ive used a x32 a few times and i have to say they are effing awesome, even a muppet like me can use it ! they are really good. Did you go for the compact or full size?
Gone for the Producer, as we need it very small format. I found an amazing deal on line which prices the whole range at similar to most people's + Vat prices until 7th March. Paid £1111 for it, instead of £1450 ish. I'll let you know how I get on! -
I've not chipped in here for a while, as we have just been "getting on" with what we could afford, but with issues. The main issue is that our desk was too small to provide enough mic Pre's to mic everything up, and only has 2 Auxes, so we couldn't have our own mixes. To overcome this the drummer temporarily opted to go back to a monitor which is being fed directly from the FOH mix, which he has been happy with. The guitarist and I are now using a single LD MEI1000 transmitter with Shure315's, which works fine and we will continue to do this, because the LD has the ability to use each of the two channels to provide separate mono mixes. Cheap, effective, what's not to love! Our "hearing everything" issue is just about to be put right with the impending delivery of a Behringer X32 Producer (they are available at a STUPID price until 7th March from a company in Essex, message me if you want the details!). Once set up, we will mic everything, the drummer will revert to headphones, but wired, using a headphone amp, and the guitarist and I will stay as we are unless we're feeling a bit richer! We will then be able to have our own mix, with the ability to control it from our iphone/android/pc/mac. The desk hopefully arrives on Thursday, I'll update once we have had the opportunity to test the theory!
....that the noise levels were stupid. I'll repeat what I said in an earlier post, insist that exhibitors use headphones for folk wanting to try out their gear. Quite a simple improvement but a huge one.
a. Great idea if you're not demonstrating amps but guitars, though, b. not so fine if actually what you really want to do is show the wider bass community how fast and brilliant you really are at slapping your arse off! As I said just now, if the amp stands had rolled off the lower mids, to reduce the lower frequency rumble then all the levels could have come down. I think we behaved ourselves generally on the MB stand, though the amazing new MultiAmp was making some mighty fine but rather loud synth noises occasionally!

Well I had a blast with the guys on the MSL stand, and it was really great to meet so many BC'ers! I don't work for MSL or MarkBass (and certainly don't speak for them), but am a loyal MB fan and the MSL team which is why I like to do the show. As a punter like the rest of us I regularly find that music shops rarely stock the whole range of gear from every manufacturer, so having it all in one place is great. However, the problem with trying to demonstrate amps is that the "one inevitable question" from most visitors is "How loud can it go?", and this means a constant escalation of the noise levels, against which trying to help people hear the quality and nuance of the tone becomes utterly impossible and an un-winnable spiral of din (however, if everyone had knocked out the lower mids from their frequencies then this would have helped). Well, that combined with the over loud slapfest. If people could leave the show feeling that they have actually seen what they would like to buy, then surely that's got to be a good thing? Regarding the size of the show, yes, quite a few companies had to make a decision between the guitar show and LBGS... I agree it ought to be made affordable enough to cater for smaller companies who sell accessories and non-boutique gear. Perhaps this is something the organisers might reflect on for next year. I used to have several boutique instruments but had to sell them all, so now just own what I need to get the job done. If anyone had had a 5 string Squier Vintage modified Jazz or Jaguar Bass, I would have bought it, but they didn't. I sadly didn't get to see many workshops or performances but did meet many of the artists. I will definitely be back next year Nice to meet Ped and Kiwi for the first time too! Can't wait to see the pics Bluejay!
Any advance on 2 then for the Set Up class?
Sorry for being late in with my thanks, but been a busy start to the week, then up to the LBGS this weekend, so lots to do! So... Thank you for your hard work in putting the afternoon together, and thanks to all others for letting me play with their stuff! It was great to meet you all. Regarding Crimson/Ben, the afternoon has definitely re-seeded the idea of doing a self build, but overseen by someone who knows what they're doing rather than letting me hack away with abandon! However, having just ordered a new Behringer X32 I am now officially skint for the next couple of months, so it'll need to wait until after the summer now, but I will definitely be discussing again with Ben. -
I'm hoping you can read out a prepared statement, what a coup for the Bash...!
As said I don't work for MSL or MB, so I cannot speak for them or read official statements , but I do now understand what they've done and why. The problem with open web forums is that, if manufacturers do not clearly state policy change, the reasons behind it, and the many benefits of why they have changed, they risk suffering from a deluge of opinion and critique before they can justify it. In this case change really is actually good, but the negative PR and discussion here may not be! Trust me, its all good, including changes in weight in some of the cabs (some up, some down... the revised specs are being updated on the MB site as we speak) ... nothing at all to do with inferior components. I have been a loyal MB user for 6 years who is not an endorsee or subsidised in any way, and when the time comes (not too soon I hope!), I will be replacing my CMD151/NY151 with another MB rig, as it has only ever once let me down, always gives me the tone I want/need, and I can carry the whole 500w thing in one journey to/from the car. The one and only time it failed was because of a power spike on stage at a venue, which wiped out the fused resistors in switched power supply (I now have a bag of them if anyone needs them. I also know a man who will fix it for you too!). It happened on the Friday night of a particularly busy August bank holiday weekend. With no great expectation I emailed MSL begging for help, and was phoned back the following day by the MD with an offer of a loan of a Big Bang head to bail me out for my Sat/Sun/Mon gigs. That level of service and care deserves my loyalty (buy one from Thomann and see if they care as much...). See you Sunday.... looking forward to meeting you all! -
Worth holding off on buying a CMD 121P?
No need to hold off. I was discussing this with MSL today, I can update you at the weekend... Sadly won't now have the Multi Amp at the weekend as it has sold so well they have no UK stock or me to borrow.... ah well, I'll just bring my CMD151 combo and new york cab rig you may then wish to re-consider 15" yourself..! -

The only thing I can think of would be a Keith McMillen 12step, It has 12 keys not one, probably overkill at 200 quid, but a neat bit of kit http://www.keithmcmillen.com/12step/tour
Looks like a Brian May clone
It'd need a shedload more pickups, switches and pots to be a yellow "Red Special"!

The body looks a bit like a Les Paul Junior, but the headstock is wrong...
Maybe you could ask them then, and they could bring down some [s]Indonesian [/s]top quality Italian gear...?
I went this year for the first time and wished I'd brought my own bass when I was trying out bass gear. Does anyone know the policy about punters bringing in personal instruments to the show? Jazzyvee
There were a number of people who brought their own basses last year, but in the 10's and not in the hundreds. I had my own basses there because I was helping out on the MB stand (and again this year), but not sure of there is an official policy for visitors, The LBGS has in the past (and this year too I would guess) operated a policy of quiet and loud sessions, to try and give people the opportunity to have sensible conversations for most of the time. If you're expecting to try amps/effects etc, with your own bass and with HIFI clarity, then you're gonna have to doing through headphones at quiet times or be an expert at blocking out the background noise of dozens of amps at full bore at noisy times!

I should be able to get there... Anyone want to play with any specific MarkBass stuff, I may be able to borrow some goodies?
