1. No surprise this beauty sold so quickly! This has been the cause of bucketfuls of drool over the last couple of days... mine mostly, and no money...
2. These normally fly off the shelves, no GT6b love out there at the moment? Sale includes Gator Gig bag, Boss Power supply and carriage, but will obviously consider offers!
3. Boss GT6B for sale. I love this pedal, does so many things really well, easy to program, but I changed bands and need to go more synthy so looking to sell to fund a GR-55 or VB. When I bought this I previously had a Line 6 Basspod XT live. I think this does so many things much better, but I worried it wasn't possible to connect to PC to program, but have found an excellent 3rd party app for both Mac and Windows, which does this really quite well with Midi. It is in unmarked condition, works perfectly, and comes with its original Boss power supply and a Gator gigbag, for [s]£160[/s] £145 to include UK postage. Can't go lower, as these rarely sell for less than £125, the power supply is original Boss (and in perfect condition!), the gigbag cost £20 and the postage will be around 15 quid... Sound fair? 4.
No prices?
Or pictures...
5.
Do you not have a keys player in the band? I would have thought that essential for a KB tribute act?
Yes, and a damn fine one, but even he is running out of fingers! As we probably all know a huge amount of her work is/was keys and sampled (she's well recognised as having been one of the worlds best Fairlight programmers), and this is quite difficult to achieve well with only one keyboard player. He uses a Hammond and a Roland stage piano with mainstage, but we are still missing out on some of the important textural stuff.
6. Pitchblack. No question. Nice simple chunky well built pedal, really big, bright display, several display modes, (I've only ever used one, but it'll probably be different to the one you use!), kick the foot switch to change basses, great! Works well with B string too.
7. OK, so I have just started playing with a Kate Bush Tribute Band, and need to add some string and possibly horn sounds to the mix. I could do this with my Roland stage piano and mainstage, but I don't really want the extra clutter on stage if I can help it... anyone got any thoughts on how best to do this with bass (and preferably fairly cost effectively initially!). I had thought about the Roland VB kit but not used it before, but is there an alternative out there? Also, if I put a roland pickup on both basses would it track properly on the fretless? (my Boss GT6b doesn't!)
8. Just spotted my mate Conrad is playing on the live stage... that'll definitely be worth a watch..!
9.
English olive ash facings on that one.
That is a truly lovely finish, but how much work/ how many coats of laquer were needed to get that smooth finish? my 1987 Mk1 pair (both sold now sadly!) were olive ash, and the grain was very open, and would have needed several gallons to fill the grain that smoothly!!
10. If you've got a CMD151p or 121p combo buy this Cab! You will then own the most flexible rig ever! Good price too!
11. Those Black Widow speakers sound lovely... Used to have a PA with BW loaded bass bins.. great warm sound
12. I've just joined http://www.cloudbust...te.com/home.cfm I am so looking forward to the first gig next weekend, quite a low key one thank goodness, but then we have a couple of more significant ones to do! I have always been in awe of the variety of sounds and textures on her tracks, very few are the same, so while there is a large contingent of fretless woobling (Breathing, Babooshka, etc), there is also some good hard rock (James and the cold gun), blues (symphony in blue), and a whole bunch of textural stuff, and even some slapping here and there... a dream gig as far as I am concerned! Lisa is quite amazingly, uncannily "soundalike". Del Palmer himself has been highly complementary! The band is less than 4 months old, currently four gigs showing in the diary, but already there is massive interest, lots going on behind the scenes, and the gig diary will be updated in the coming weeks, so if you can get to one of them, do come and check us out! Feedback from KB fans suggests they don't like tributes to try and "be" Kate. No-one can or should even try in my opinion, she's unique (though big respect to the guys in Bobby K's outfit!). Our performances will initially be based on the music and the best replication/interpretation that can be managed for music which was entirely studio written and largely never played live by her, as she has so far (I for one would be first in the queue for tickets when the next one is announced!), only toured once.
13.
Are you sure the Ashdown works ok..???
Truthfully, no, I suspect not, and it was a loan from a local music shop, so didn't want to be the one who discovered it was faulty, in case he asked me to pay for the damage... my problems are bad enough as they are at the moment! though best to just not risk it... quite apart from the risk of blowing my cabs to bits!!! Edit: sorry, that sounds really ungrateful and I really didn't mean it to sound like that.... the guy was genuinely trying to help me out of a spot, and for that I am really very grateful.... I have promised to buy strings from him from now on.... He's gonna get Elixirs in specially for me!
14. I just want to get my original setup working again, which is CMD151p combo (which has 1 x 15" and a tweeter and on its own is fine for rehearsals and small gigs), and a STD104HR (4 x 10). This has the advantage that it can be configured in three different ways, 1. as a 15 inch (+tweeter!) combo, 2. as a full rig for bigger gigs with 1 x 15 and the 4 x 10 , or 3. the 15" speaker in the combo can be turned off and the head can be used just with the 4 x 10... It is so flexible. However, just been told the head will cost a bit over £100 to repair as the power supply is buggered, and i am currently penniless..... Thankfully my immediate problem has gone away, as a friend has lent me a power amp, so I can use my GT6b as a preamp, and it powers my MB cabs reasonably well... not ideal, but it'll get me through....
15. OK, so I tried what Protium suggested, 1. The 151 into one channel and 104 into the other - result; the amp sounding incredibly strained, my poor MB speaker cones moving about 6" in and out, trying to detach themselves from their chassis, even at relatively low volume. 2. The 151 cab into the "out" of 104 then into a single channel on the Ashdown - Result, quiet, poor tone, had to crank the Ashdown up high to get it to move some air, resulting in painful farty sounds, not harmonic bass loveliness The moral of the tale, I didn't end up using the amp as it was borrowed, and I didn't want to damage it, or my precious MB speakers.... At this point i must say that I have never been an Ashdown lover, and this has sadly reinforced the fact. In the end I was lent a PJB Suitcase and expansion cab by my lifesaving nephew. Lovely tight top end and middle, but those poor 8 x 5" speakers just couldn't come close to my MB at managing the bottom end of my Lakland 55-02's, but a great sound nonetheless, and in this case beggers really can only be eternally grateful!! Thanks for all your help guys!!!
16. My Markbass rig is a CMD151p, with a little mark head producing 300w into 8 ohms and 500w into 4 ohms, so I'm guessing the 15" combo speaker is 8ohms. I also have an 8ohm 104HR cab, so with both together takes Ohms to 4, so gives 500w....? Right, I have borrowed a Little giant 1000, which apparently provides 500w into 2 x 4ohm outputs... How do I wire my speakers so that I get a good sound and don't risk damaging either amp or speakers? Need to know before tonight!!
17. OK problem hopefully temporarily solved, I have been kindly lent an ashdown Little Giant....
18. Looks like its a dead stick... the only other fuses inside (F1, F2, F3) are soldered onto the main power supply board... Beyond my capabilities, I'm afraid. Has anyone got anything I can borrow/loan/hire to power my HR104 for Sunday (today!!) through to Tuesday please, otherwise I'm well stuffed to say the least!!?? I could do with something going my way for a change.....
19. Did the gig, will have a look in the light of day tomorrow... Where abouts are they? The main external power fuse is fine....
20. So we soundchecked, and all went well, then the house lights flickered a bit just before we went on, and my markbass 151 combo was dead... The fuse is fine, the fan is running, but no little blue light, no one at home.... Aaaarrgh, I have a spare everything else, but no head and two more gigs this weekend... I'm in Exeter, any bright ideas or help anyone can give please?
21.
I'm interested in this does it have a PSU included? Cheers
I've got the 25 key version of this... they are really good! Somebody should buy this! If you use the USB Midi port it provides the power to it so PSU not needed.
22.
No one mentioned the effect the type/size of speakers used will have yet? *runs for cover*
Or whether they are a mile away or clamped to each side of your head like headphones!! *runs faster.....*
23. I just messaged them asking:- Hi, if fitted to a standard Jazz bass, is there room to put the battery in under the control plate without need for further routing? Received answer:- We have a lot of customers install the SBK-2A in their jazz bass models however we suggest you remove your pickguard and fit a 9V battery to be sure. Not quite sure if it answered my question.....
