1. Loving the new BC layout, nice work one and all but, can someone please explain what the "watts" thing is please? Some people have none and some, loads. Sorry if the question sounds silly but I can't find out what it is and what it is for. Cheers
2. I think you have described exactly what I want JBP. Thank you. I shall check out the MXR as well. Cheers
3. Yeah, I hear you on that but, there is no way I'll be able to try out everything ha ha ha ha ha ha. If the kind folk here start mentioning certain models more frequently, it'll be easier for me to narrow my search. Thanks Osiris, appreciate your input and will certainly look at the SpectraComp. I have used it when I had my TC RH750 so yes, that gives me a good basis for comparison
4. Deep Purple for me. It was between them and Iron Maiden but Deep Purple started me on my music obsessed path.
5. Seeking some advice please? In your opinion, what is the best compressor pedal out there at the moment. I only want to apply light compression but there are so many pedals out there and so many videos where you can't really hear what the pedal is doing, I felt it best to speak to people in the know. Thanks in advance.
6. That is a beautiful bass. Good luck with the sale
7. Oh my, that is quite stunning........
8. My Vigier Excess 5. It was one bass that I kept coming back to in Bass Direct. For some reason I overlooked it for other instruments but eventually after much faffing, I went back, played it, got rid of all the other basses I had and took away my now, no.1. It has remained my only bass for the past 4 years and will be my primary live instrument from here on in. I love it so much, I have another on order 😉
9.
He's moved over to the Line 6 Helix now. The Hartke's are just used as Power amps these days. The Helix does all the sound processing.
Thanks for the heads up. Interesting.
10.
The speaker sizes Billy favours don't shape his tone really. The core of his tone is that distortion, which is in those EBS pedals and is apparently cloned from some preamps he used back in the '80s. Part of Billy's tone comes about from just how busily he plays. Some Winery Dogs tracks suffer from him constantly hitting passing notes, harmonics and other little stunts.
Yeah I get that and, it makes sense but with the EB0 pickup at the neck position and in combination with the 15's, that will add to the bass end I would have thought. His technique and setup fascinates me. I was lucky enough to hang out with a fellow member for Mr. Big for a whole day where many drinks were consumed and many tales told but, one of the things that stuck with me was when the gentleman in question stated that he wished Billy would just play with a lot less processing and let the bass breath a bit more. I found that fascinating and quite insightful.
11.
Can heartily recommend: Eat 'em and Smile - Dave Lee Roth First 2 Mr Big albums Both Winery Dogs albums
Listen to the new debut album by Sons of Apollo as well.
12. Has anyone else ever wondered or heard for that matter, Billy Sheehan play without all of his FX? I love listening to him play (most of the time) and especially with Sons Of Apollo but, I was left wondering what it would have sounded like if Billy just used a "cleaner" tone with some overdrive and through 10's or 12's rather than 15's. I know his sound is "his" sound and apart from his incredible ability, his sound makes him very recognisable but, I'd love to hear him play through the rig of say, Adam Nolly or, Amos Williams. Any one else ever wonder about stuff like this or, have i just got too much time on my hands........
13. I've got an '86 MIJ Precision that my folks bought me in '86. It'll always stay with me so, 31 years and counting.......
14.
Very tempted Matt!, It would make a lovely partner to my Natural one...
Do it
15.
Here's a vid of Chris Chaney demoing using the new colours. The turquoise p bass looks great! https://youtu.be/trijQnaLPrk
When are you getting yours?
16. That turquoise is very lovely and like you, I prefer maple necks. I just wish they would do a 5 string version.......
