Sheehan runs two outputs from his bass. From the neck position humbucker to a Hartke LH1000 into Hartke AK410. P Pickup goes through Pearce preamp powered by Hartke HA500 and into AK115. The Pearce has clean and didtorted channels. Essentially the lows can be adjusted without affecting the highs and vice versa. Conversley to popular opinion, Sheehan says he prefers the highs through the 115, which smooths them out a bit and the lows through the 410 for a fast and sharp attack.
Thank you so much for the information. A lot of that makes so much sense. It isn't until you read it that you think, "Ahh, yes, of course" More research is needed but plenty of food for thought. Thanks again
Matt, Dug Pinnick has used a few different set-ups over the years, so it depends what sort of era you're thinking of. The earlier albums he was running an SVT stack for the bass end & using Fender Twin guitar amps for the high end, splitting the frequencies from his basses (mainly a Hamer 12 string & a Fender Jazz at the time) with a crossover. This is the rig he was using when they played St. Davids Hall in 1989 (the "Gretchen goes to Nebraska" tour) & the sound was f***ing immense! Here's some info on his recent set-up: http://www.12stringbass.net/master.htm?htt...et/DougsRig.htm
Hello mate and I hope all is well with you. Thanks so much for the info. Maybe a little extreme for what I want but fascinating stuff and I am sure ideas will spring from here. Thanks. What are you up to these days? Hopefully see you around. Take care bud.

I wonder if anyone can help me please? Apart from loving these guys as bass players, I also really love their sound. Does anyone have an information on how they get their sound? I figure there is some overdrive / distortion and chorus plus I just can't figure out what else they may have in the loop. Any help and advice would be appreciated. Cheers folks
Received my Yamaha TRB6 Series I from Matt today. A gorgous instrument at a great price, and Matt was a pleasure to deal with all the way. Honest and prompt communication and friendly all the way. The bass was very well packaged and was just as Matt had described it. Even threw in a couple of freebies! So thanks for a great bass and a very pleasant and easy transaction, Matt! Maybe we'll do business again in the future, who knows? ;-) Good luck with your band and recording work! Cheers, Jon
Jon, it has been so great dealing with you. The whole transaction has been an utter pleasure and I really hope we do business again one day. Enjoy the bass bass and please keep us up to date with any gigs or recording you do with it. Thank you and take care. Cheers, Matt

Just sold my Yamaha TRB6 to Jon and the transaction has been an absolute pleasure. The communication was wonderful and friendly and he also sorted out the collection from Norway. The bank transfer was on time and hassle free. Deal with Jon with complete confidence. Thank you mate and enjoy the bass as much as I did.
Looking forward to it, Matt! I've owned one of these before, but it was beat up and had a lot of bruising, so when I was offered a good price I sold it. But have missed it.... so looking forward to getting a nicer and better looking version of it back! Nice doing business with you, Matt! Good luck with your projects! Cheers, Jon
And you too mate. I will leave you feedback tomorrow. Just to let you know, I have PM'd you with all the dimensions for transit. Speak soon and take care.
Oooooo what a price! This happens to be the one bass that got away. I need to check my finances, I'm in the market for a 6-string... but was planning on spending a little more time. But I loved my old Yamaha TRB-6 and still miss it from time to time. Any issues with this one? And... I'm in Norway... :-/ Don't know how or if shipping could be arranged... if we went further with a possible deal?
No issues with this what so ever Mr Walker. It is well looked after and set up regularly and kept in a flight case in a clean environment. I have no problems shipping to the wonderful Norway either. I have some good friends there, so it would be nice for the bass to go to a good home. Let me know and hopefully we can do a deal. Take care and speak soon. Cheers, Matt

I bought my Dingwall from Mark back in September and can only reiterate how wonderful he and Bass Direct are. He is always so courteous, helpful and knowledgeable plus the after sales care is second to none. I keep going back there for strings and will be buying another Dingwall from him later in 2011. The shop is pure "porn", I just wish I lived closer but my wallet and bank manger are pleased I don't A truly wonderful place for all your bass needs. Seriously, check it out. Thanks to Mark for being so brilliant
Hi mate...I sold the jazz too! In fact it got broken down and sold separately. I can get another fretless at some point bro if I need it but the idea is I'm jumping over to upright. It's the next port of call! Thanks for the link too mate Hope all is well with you and the gang!
Can't believe the Jazz has gone too, that was your baby and broken down - ARRGGHH Fair enough though me old chum and keep me posted on how things go. I will be watching with interest sir. By the way, all things very cool here and just chilling for a bit. Catch you soon and good luck. Matt

Mate, I can't believe you're selling this beauty already. I know you wanted an upright but selling the Esh. Are you hanging on to the Jazz bass? Good luck bud and hopefully catch you soon. Cheers, Matt P.S. - Don't know if this is useful but thought of you anyway - http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp..._Multitech.html

These have now been withdrawn sorry. I was selling my Yamaha TRB6 and the this bass uses these strings, so was selling them as well as they would have been of no further use to me, anyway, I have decided to keep the bass as a permanent back up until I can afford another Dingwall, so the strings will have to be kept too. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. Cheers
