1.
There are definitely more than 3 players at once. I wonder if it's overdubs or if there were more in the band? Great stuff anyway, thanks! EDIT: I got to here from the comments on youtube, funky! https://www.mixcloud.com/audiolounge/prince-funk-from-the-vault-1976-1983/
There are three of them playing. That link is great. Thankyou.
2.
Man! You're like some sorta super sleuthing muso hunter. Thanks for that. I'm bopping my nut off!
Ahh. Glad to be of service my friend. He plays bass on this also. No idea which parts.
3. My favourite singer of all time.Magical soul music.
4. This is just fantastic. !!!!!! Check out his keys playing at 19.00 and throughout... Just WOW. Cymone's bass playing great also. Did anyone know he did an album with Miles Davis also.?? Prince on keys/guitar at age 19, with Andre Cymone on bass and Bobby Z (so they say) on drums, playing 8 impressive fusion jazz funk tracks at Loring Park rehearsal room in 1977 in Minneapolis. 5.
Unless the controls on your bass do something very different such as the filter EQ of the Wal or ACG, or they allow you to EQ each pickup separately, I really can't see the point as all they do is duplicate what you should already have available on your amp.
That depends on the preamp. As you know, some preamps have a sound that might be preferable to the player, that they can't get from there amplifier.
6. Could be a nice refine project for someone, might even be able to knock them downquite a bit. Why he's stated, it's in good condition is beyond me. Looks like he's just copied/pasted the description. Awsome basses though. I wonder what the pups/electronic s are like. https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/on-sale-yamaha-trb-6-6-string-bass-guitar-90-s-blue-green-%C2%A3999-only/1210421955
7. Hmm. I wonder if that does good Jaco tone.?😜
8. The whole album is just fantastic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqYAeNKqnV8
9. seems like she might be just doing cheltenham which seems odd. http://www.cheltenhamfestivals.com/jazz/whats-on/2017/meshell-ndegeocello/?gclid=CN-UmIy9utECFYM4Gwod_AUGdg
10. Its a really lovely bass, and i have to say i love the look.. sexy Jazz Bass. but Fodera price there basses on there name. Its a Fodera, and they know it. You just know its gonna feel awesome though.
11.
so I was going to come on here and say what a travesty to the EWAF version this was, then I actually listened to the Victor version, and WTF I thought it was actually really good! So Thank You bubinga5 for broadening my horizons. And now Ive checked out the Creative Source Version!
Thank Betafunk for that. Glad you liked it as much as i did.
12. Bass. Its still Donny with Willie Weeks on bass. This bass playing is up there with Jamerson, Pino. Its just amazingly musical. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLUh70zp0LE
13. This is without doubt one of the best voices I've ever heard. Donny Hathaway. Music from the master. Yes it gives me the goosers. Its EPIC.
14. A young Roy Hargrove and Mr Miller on a P Bass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MV8LFNOxHks
15. Meshell is doing some dates around the UK, Stopping off at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Playing on the same stage as Clint Eastwood's son a few years back.. Magical music. and she always gets the bass out, as that is what is her.
16. Originally by Creative Source (thank you Beta Funk) then more famously done by my bread and butter, Earth Wind and Fire. I just think his playing is so musical. I have this album, but strangely only listen to this and other record. The rest is ermm not to my taste. But imo, this is phenomenal playing. He records the bass in 2 parts, as you can hear. On his technical ability alone its just way out there, but the way he plays around those chords is just so very clever..I love Steve Harris Meshell, Marcus Miller, Pino, but know one does it like Victor. ... Not everyones bag, but it ticks me boxes.
17.
Be interested to try one. Same price level as the Dingwall Combustions so stiff competition, but only really comparable with their Super J/ Super P which of course is very much more expensive. I am not entirely sold on the concept of fanned frets at that kind of scale length, though. Amazingly useful for lower tunings and a strong 5th string at the full 37-34 inch fan, not sold on the usefulness and effectiveness of a fan from 34.5 to 32.5, although this is actually a longer scale than the Dingwall Super J/P!
I really don't think he needs to make them. Unless for a specific order. Maybe he's just showing what he can do.. Which is pretty astounding imo. How he makes basses so amazing for the price is anyones guess.
18. Bass Direct seem to have a lot more stock, of Adrian Maruszczyk's basses. http://www.bassdirec...NSTRUMENTS.html Can i say i absolutely love the Cort GB5's. I know Randy HOPE Taylor playes one.
19. If it said Sadowsky on the title, players would be all over it. These Maruszczyk's are as easily as good as Metro's.
20.
I really hated Rock It. I never gave him any chance as I never knew anything about him. However, I was Youtube browsing a few weeks ago, and came across a concert with Tal Wilkenfield on bass. I realised there was a lot more to him than Rock It. I need to look up more stuff by him
You know this gonna be funky. Does anybody know who the drummer is.?
21.
I love a bit of Herbie, hard to pick a favourite bit this one is up there And this one is a bit of music history, helping to bring hip hop into the mainstream
Rockit was one of those tracks that got me into Hip Hop. This and Eric B and Rakim.. Superb stuff he did with Hip Hop
22.
Sorry over my head , can you explain ?
It was very warranted trust me. Did anyone do a Funk version of Bridge Over Troubled Water.?
23.
Huge fan of HH - this is one of my favourites. Funnily enough I have previously posted this in funk thread and was told that it is not funk! Just goes to show how different perceptions are:
That is fantastic. As usual Roland you out music me.
24.
Not sure what genre this falls under. But, it's great (well I think so). Check out the groovy Bass playing from 'Tom Barney' The vocals and harmony are beautiful.
Awsome.!!!! Im not sure either.
