1.
Why is it stupid to say he doesn't like jazz (assuming he really doesn't of course)? And so what if he hasn't discovered any music out of his "own safe musical world"?
I take it you have watched the vid. ? Its like saying Rock is, 1 guitarist, a bass player and a drummer, playing 2 chords for the whole record.
 2. I feel a little like i didn't see the full interview.
 3. For me, a guy that has written so many great record's and (apparently) is a matured writer of great music, to say something so stupid. I really thought he was a bit more clever than this. His apparent idol Paul Weller loves Miles Davis, aswell as Coltrane and many Jazz funk/Soul etc.. I dread to think what his brother thinks. It just says to me, you haven't really discovered any chords or music out of your own, safe musical world. I sw this this and it made me lack respect for him and any of his great music. 4.
My mate calls it lift music but I just kick him in the slats and tell him not to harshen my buzz. I lost both my vinyl and four track versions of Surprise Surprise a long time ago. A month or so back I downloaded a live performance and cranked it - hard. Lovely noise.
Anyone who calls Mezzoforte lift music is like Noel Gallagher. Makes great music, but an uneducated chimp who's doesn't understand anything outside of his chord progression's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzUAomfTLyQ

 6. Thus Julians 2 part bass on Incognito's Jacobs Ladder. And a very interesting story from Bubinga 5….. I saw him play this track at an Incognito gig with my sister, and he was using an F Bass. I later asked him at a Down to the Bone gig at the Jazz cafe, what he used to record the bass and it was an F Bass. Also, it was the same F bass that was for sale on BassChat years ago that was sold to someone. The guy that eventually bought it/or owned it, converted the instrument to a fretless,(if I'm not mistaken).. i can't remember his name. It fell out of the back of his car on the motor way and the neck snapped. He had it repaired . It was a natural 5 string F Bass. Was quite a few years ago. And yes that was a very interesting story from Bubinga 5.!!! But anyways, that bass was used, to record this fabulous record.
 7. They are very much like Incognito, with different line ups and many live ones. As far as i know. Rufus Philpot has played on many USA live dates. As for UK dates Jo Philpotts,Chris Dodd on Bass. The albums (new ones) are a mix of Julian Crampton and Rufus Pjilpot. I know which one i prefer. Although Rufus is a fine bass player. Julian was employed by Incognito for a reason. This is just awesome. you can guess the bassist. Solid and full of funk is Julian. He's such an incredible bass player, if you have ever heard Jacobs Ladder written by Julian. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VtQ962tH20
 8.
I would imagine there was an issue with the pickup, battery and setup on the Ray 5. I've tried many many Laklands, and whilst they make a fairly cool 35" 5 string bass, the Musicman 5 strings I've played always sounded MUCH tighter with more of a kick on the B string.
Yeah I've never heard an SR5 with a weak floppy sounding B string. On both the SR5 and the Lakland's I've owned every string has been articulate and the B strings have been the best of any price range because of the USA electronics involved. The Sei i owned actually had a weaker B string than both. Work that one out. All Instruments through the same amp/cab. I think the power of the Lakland and the SR5 are equal but just different sounding. Both are monstrously huge. I do applaud the SR5 because of its 34' scale for making such a great B.
 9. These Deluxe s don't come up very often. Great basses with Bartolini. Wish you were trading.
 10.
I believe this is because all of the other awards are deemed to be biased towards white artists, hence the need to focus on music of black origin to address the balance. ** Edit ** I posted at the same time as Cato who seems to be a lot more correct than I was
Originally the minority (black music) or whatever that is, has def become the majority in music today. Which I think Is good. But I think, like everything in life there some balance to be had. I think that's what Prince and his recruitment of band members was nodding at.Black, White Female, Male etc. . He cared because of the multi image he wanted to put across that music is equal. And he was right.me personally I'm going to say the right thing, and actually it's how I feel. I don't give a f*** what you look like, music doesn't care either
 11.
I've always been slightly uncomfortable about the MOBO awards. Is there a MOWO awards?
Yes I do wonder. Open a can of valid of worms you do though.
 12. It's strange I was watching a band called blossom on TV and the all have Long hair and winklpickers. Really good music. I don't look like that at all, but I could easily play the bass lines. I wonder if they would employ me. I really doubt it. There are bands like Incognito that are way and beyond musically what they are capable of, or should I say technically. Bluey doesn't care what you dress like as long as you can play. Then again Prince wanted a certain look with NPG.I think your look is important. I thank Prince for what he did and looked like though. That was all part of the artistry.
 13. Is it good for metal.?? Already got me coat on
 14. I've got a cab for sale. And I'm absolutely gutted. I've had it for quite some time and I love it. But after being made redundant and having a mortgage to pay. I've got to let it go. Has lots sentimental value and sounds incredible. Hopefully it won't sell and fate will intervene. The thing is I've let basses go that I've made a huge mistake doing. I once let a Sei Jazz bass go for £900 7 years ago because I was in the same situation. Desperate.
 15.
Damn your a bit too far away from me. Is packaging up for a courier collection an option?
Hi buddy. Anything is possible. Not sure how to post a cab mind. 😕 But as I said I've been made redundant so cost of postage is down to the buyer or we can work something out.like half/half etc. If you want to give me a call and dicuss anything. Please feel free to PM me your number or I can PM mine.
 16.
Aha. It's a handwritten backplate isn't it, it'll say 4 and then the omega symbol which means ohms.
Yeah that's right. It's a bit faint. But yeah of course. Thanks Merton.See I told you I was clueless when it comes amps. 😁
 17. Gunnlaugur Briem plays the sticks on Jóhann Ásmundsson's Sadowsky at 3,20. Fantastic musicians these guys . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyyp0pgaELY
 18.
Hint. It was a joke. Feeble but a joke none the less.
Yeah I know bud. I was way way way ahead of you my friend. ....Ok no I wasn't. 😁
 19. Hello bud. I'm in evesham. I'm not very clued up on ohms etc.I don't play speakers. 😉 The impedence says 450 on the back of the cab.
 20.
I have listened to others playing bass for years, so that must make me a superb bassist.
Listen to music not bass players.
