1.
Robben Ford covers this beautifully, if you haven't heard it - lovely bass! ...
fantastic.!!!
2. An epic Glock/Bartolini loaded Maruszczyk Elwood 5 ?
3. Another great Maruszczyk. Love the dot inlays..
4. Very Very cool.! These just don't come up very often. Especially the fretless version.
5. Ok. Yeah shouldn't be a problem belimad..
6. He's great at laying that groove down. But yes, you really have to have good hand posterier for that one. There is a slide down that Julian does. If you have a 5 string the fingering is without the slide but just as taxing. Im sure even Julian didn't find this easy.
7. A great record from a great album. And what a great bit of bass playing, the fast bits and slow bits. You really need to have your left hand technique down for this scale run down. Recorded by Julian Crampton.
8. I absolutely hate this from Ornette Coleman. But i absolutely love this from the pioneer Dave Brubeck Played by George Benson. Jazz like pop, can be very different.
9. Just a fantastic record from Bobby Lyle and Don Beck on a Jazz bass. Edit Just tasteful playing from a great band, and a great bass player you've never heard of.
10. Its Just fantastic James Taylor Quartet.!! When they are good they are way better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXaRa8_aRnA&list=FLzVUqeF1SLjxa78y2gd03dQ&index=349

12. Lowdown you just hit one big button for me. I absolutely adore this, Just Like i do Norman Brown, Of course George benson and Earl Klugh. Imo the best Jazz guitarist in the world today. Norman Brown stripped down to his bare bones playing off the cuff over his track Lydian. Incredible improvisation.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArNNsdDQEaY
13. Do you/He actually thinks that about Jazz.? Edited
14.
well you saw fit to open a thread about it calling him stupid... so you could argue that it irked you enough to do that. for the record, i don't like jazz either, it grates on my ears. that said, i have great respect for talented jazz players, i just don't like the genre.
I call him stupid because of the way he comes across in the vid that i posted. i did say, maybe i missed something, or maybe its a bit tounge and cheek. Like i said he writes some great music, but to dismiss Jazz like he does is stupid. To dismiss a jazz audience as he does, and maybe an amazingly talented band that is way beyond what he could play, but not be as popuar, is stupid. Its a great musician making stupid comments, and thats why i loose respect for him. i can't see any other way of seeing it.
15. An amazing band. John McLaughlin just plays the most amazing guitar on this track.. Its so Billy Cobham on the busy drums, The legendary Tony Levin on bass, Jan Hammer (i think) on acoustic piano. Over the top for most, but the musicians involved are at the top of there game. This music can change like nothing else.
16.
I guess it could be, but of course it could also be more - which is fine isn't it? Each to their own. Why even get upset about it?
Do you hear me getting upset.?

18.
Why is it stupid to say he doesn't like jazz (assuming he really doesn't of course)? And so what if he hasn't discovered any music out of his "own safe musical world"?
I take it you have watched the vid. ? Its like saying Rock is, 1 guitarist, a bass player and a drummer, playing 2 chords for the whole record.
19. I feel a little like i didn't see the full interview.
20. For me, a guy that has written so many great record's and (apparently) is a matured writer of great music, to say something so stupid. I really thought he was a bit more clever than this. His apparent idol Paul Weller loves Miles Davis, aswell as Coltrane and many Jazz funk/Soul etc.. I dread to think what his brother thinks. It just says to me, you haven't really discovered any chords or music out of your own, safe musical world. I sw this this and it made me lack respect for him and any of his great music.
