1. Maruszczyk Elwood 5 Jazz Bass for trade only. Ash body with a translucent cherry red finish and matching headstock. The bass now has Bartolini's, a traditional jazz bass control plate and a Delano Sonar 2 preamp. Massive ABM bridge. Rolled finger board. Active/passive switching . Zero fret. Graphite neck rod. The Delano pre is, volume/push pull/passive /active /Pickup selection/sweep/ Bass/ Treble. THE most comfortable 5 string neck i have ever played. 19 mm string spacing at the bridge. Its a shallow feeling neck very much like a Lakland 55-02. An amazing B string. It is really one of the best I've played. Super taught and punchy. There is no floppy B string on this bass. This bass was made in 2015 and in brand new condition. There is not a single mark on this instrument. its like brand new. It weighs 9.6 pounds,so is a lightweight for a 5 string. One of the best super jazz basses I've ever played. Easily up there with Sadowsky Metro's, Sandberg's, Mayones's etc. Looking for. 5. Double buck Warwicks in my experience tone wise are huge. I haven't played a double buck streamer but I owned a DB Corvette 5 string. That bass would cut through anything. Massive sound. Don't like small body basses though.
6. I remember buying this album many years ago. His scatting and bass playing just blew me away.
7. For me Bluey from Incognito understands Jazz Funk and always comes out with some amazing instrumental,s on every album he's produced. http://youtu.be/e501F5maask
8. I'm a jazz bass man through and through. I do like that P bass thump. But I much prefer the articulation of a Jazz bass. Isn't the Jazz bass an evolution of the P Bass anyways.😉
9.
And Adam Clayton calls it a 'Struggle'.
😁

15. Hands down my favourite Jazz Funk record of all time from Norman Connors. Those horns are just great. A very sharp, well put together piece of music. There is no way one part of my body can not move to this. http://youtu.be/FbePHK_sCdk
16. This is just amazing Donald Byrd. Incognito have recently covered this to amazing effect. http://youtu.be/aLs3oK-EuDs

18. It's my favourite genre of music by far. It mixes elements of soul jazz and funk. These are a couple of my favourites. Incognito an album of there/his origins. http://youtu.be/5Ce3c3NIHp4 There are hundreds of great records from this genre that I love but this is in my top ten. It's so perfectly put together a piece of music.from the awsome bass line to the synth, to the keys and those fantastic bongos. http://youtu.be/T5R3_SbE7XQ What are your favorites.?
19.
Never heard of 'Sting' in articulation terms. I always thought 'Sting' was the terrible racket a Drummer makes after a comedian tells a bad gag on a cabaret gig.
budum tssss.
20.
Gilmour is my all time favorite guitarist. He can portray more with less notes than anyone I have listened to. The first solo in Comfortably Numb always makes me emotional.
Wasn't he voted best guitarist of all time in Guitar Magazine about 5 times in a row?. Hendrix was second. I would go with that.
21.
Do you mean a trill (swiftly varying between two adjacent notes a semitone apart) or actual vibrato (where pitch usually varies by a lot less than a semitone)? If you're talking about a trill, strike the note and hammer on and off (either a fret up or a fret down) swiftly. There's a limit to how long it will sustain, but it works. It's very tricky to slide between two fretted notes - buzz is almost inevitable as you cross the fret and the pressure on the string is released momentarily. Applies especially if you use roundwounds. Vibrato much easier on a fretless - you mention Sting. He plays fretless and would, I suspect, use one for a song that demands vibrato.
I think Dan when he says Sting, it's a term for a trill/vibrato etc. Yeah i had never heard of it either.
22. Check this Lesson out from Scott. Tis very good and very informative. I've got to say I had never heard the terminology Sting before. http://youtu.be/pt-rEuQMOIM
