1. Some just amazing groove bass playing on this classic Gil Scott Heron track, from the man on a P Bass. Meshell picks up a P bass at the end too.! http://youtu.be/xtPVoV7moMU
2. I get dings in my playing , bum notes in a jam station etc. Why shouldn't my bass. We're in this together.
3.
Bass as a melodic and lead instrument is as valid as virtually any other instrument. It's people's narrow-mindedness that's the problem. People have preconceived ideas of what an instrument should, and shouldn't do.
+ lots of what you just said.
4.
I think you are talking about 'Shake'. Marlowe DK covers this at about 4:00 (FunkyTrills and Shakes - All the Video is worth watching)This. For me and I'm sure lots of bassists, it's were you play them also. That comes from listening and musical instinct. I've listened to so many great soul vocalists and that's where I feel my learning of vibrato in its many forms comes from. He also covers the various vibrato techniques. The 'Shake' is still a kind of trill, so it still has to have note value to sound in the groove. (8th/16th's Demi Semi Quavers etc) Just random speed shakes can sound messy and not funky at all.
This. For me and I'm sure many bassists it's where you play them. Where Anita Baker placed her vibrato was ingrained into me.
5. It was Rogers way of saying he was burned by the shaking hands to a record deal/music industry. Have a Cigar,s lyrics are along those lines
6. Trivia time. Does anyone know what the album cover on Wish You were Hear is about.? The man shaking hands with a man on fire.?
7. 26 minutes of a masterpeice in music. Imo. http://youtu.be/8UXircX3VdM
8.
A great tune. I actually prefer the alt. version with Dave & Rog's vox... I've got loads of faves... Echoes, Sheep, Not Now John, Fat Old Sun, SOYCD... just a great band.
I think Roy had way better vocals on this. Imo. Although Roger didn't like them.
9. I'm sure I was listening to this band in the Womb. My mum was a big fan, and when she passed away I got her original vinyl of The Wall. Its still in perect condition. Every now and again I have a yearning to listen to my back catalogue of Pink Floyd. I think it's probably the most special music I've ever listed to. I have many favorites like Us and Them, Money, Breath. This is a real favorite of mine. Love it's bluesy feel. Listening wise, Pink Floyd have there place. But a very special one.Not typical when I think of Pink Floyd but a great record with lyrics about Rogers disgust with the record industry.Vocals by Roy Harper http://youtu.be/hMr3KtYUCcI
10. I'm confused. You mean one preamp, but you can control eq from the front, and there are dip switches under the control cavity at the back.? What happened to the truss rod cover.? Love these Killer B,s mind.

17. Didn't he play mainly jazz basses with the Police.?
18. Ok. I love 4/4 as do many,I love 3/4 also. of course there are many ways you can play around these beats, taste permitting in a band situation of course. but my favourite by far is 6/8 time. There is something about this particular drum beat that just sets my playing off. http://youtu.be/HiGETAHJG7U
19. I think this record is superb. I'm not familiar with Keane,s stuff. I think he's got a fabulous voice for pop rock etc. http://youtu.be/W8W8IBS2fVg
