1.
That is a genius experiment! I'm surprised it actually floated that long - learn something new every day!
nothing endorsed here but it shows how water resistant the Mono is. I put a lot of pressure to put it underwater. Has anyone tried to put a surfboard under water.? That's the pressure I had to put down on it. Obviously the zip makes the bag non water proof. But carrying this bag in light rain with my bass inside is cool with me.
2. This for me is the ultimate Rod Temperton record sung by a genius performer. It was a perfect match. Soul music perfection. http://youtu.be/hG9OzYVSg3c
3. It's broken down by Incognito,s brilliant remix guy Ski Okenfold. This guy is so talented. http://youtu.be/MyWQdktB5zM
4. He co wrote it with Quincy. http://youtu.be/xIx_HbmRnQY
5. Alot of people think this song was written by Quincy Jones. It was co written with Rod Temperton. I do think Temperton got a huge influence from Quincy with his sound. http://youtu.be/ariYiRhFtDc
6. This is a bargain. There are mij fender basses that on the market are maybe £150 more than this bass. I really don't rate them. I'm in no way affiliated with this seller. I just know these basses are superb.
7.
There's a lot of water in that bath! I think you should have added some Matey. And some candles.
ha ha. I actually used all the hot water and the wife wanted a bath 😕
8.
You only know once you try for yourself so take the plunge. Every one raved about (and still does) DRs overall so I tried em but I still prefer cheap Rotos.maybe I'm missing something. It matters not though, if Roto players are happy it's all good. Personally I dont like em. So thats a win win for me cause I buy the rotos @ £12.00 a set. At least now I know. Others here would have me burnt at the stake for such a remark!!
you pays your money you takes your choice. The thing is with strings you settle on what you like, because strings seem to be a little thing that you really shouldn't or dont want to spend alot of money on to get a good tone. If thou is happy though tis all good
9. Why not just play regular DR strings.? Playing with a pick make the strings last way longer anyways. DR make long lasting strings, this coating stuff I just don't buy.
10. Well for one thing I know the Mono bags are rresistant . Mono told me that the inside protection is not just foam, its a poly plastic foam with some sort of glue bonded with it that doesnt absorb water.?Me and the wife went out for dinner last night and I left it in the bath. This bag has been floating on the top for 17 hours. There is no wet inside the bag at all. I've been informed by the guys at Mono. From there advise i scrubbed it in the bath then put it in the shower to drain all the soap out of it. I think it's important to not use detergent. Just washing up liquid. The detergent will eat away at some fabrics. Drying it in a normal temp room. I don't know which fabrics are involved but best not take the risk with a £150 bag. If I turn up at my next live appointment with my bass in a bin liner, it didn't go well.
11. I think this is a soul funk masterpeice. It sounds like a Micheal Jackson record. The harmony change with the bass on this record is very very clever @ 3.20 . Rod Temperton all over it. http://youtu.be/hsCu4RbRoM0
12. That is very sad. One of my favourites. He was a genius. His stuff with Heatwave was just amazing. Nevermind the Thriller masterpeice etc.
13. Dings or not these are brilliant jazz basses. Like you said they really nail that Marcus tone.
14.
Hand wash it in the bath?
I think this is the answer. The wife said there is no way I'm putting it in the washing machine😁
15. One thing I love about this forum and the people on it is, when someone asks for recommendations, the thread to begin with, is very informative, but after a while just overtakes what ever the OP is asking for and a discussion starts whay past his/her needs.😂 very funny and charming. Not so much with this thread at the mo but time will tell. 😀
16. From the first bss in Bach,s music; to some of the best bass players in the world. Fascinating doc on our instrument. Seems like an older Doc. But good all the same. Hope you enjoy http://youtu.be/iUwDThBuJHI Part 1 and 2 on YT.
17.
I ordered one from Sei having looked at the market and not been overly impressed with the offerings. MP told me..and showed me, that he would make a far better bass for the money, which at that time was about £1500. He was correct and altho now his prices are nearly double..and his lead time around a year, I'd still go there for a custom bass. His build and his workmanship make sure you end up with a unqiue personal custom bass which really works. Altho he will fine tune his designs with thing like neck profile etc etc ... he has been doing it for long enough to know and advise what works. The biggest single mistake in my book is picking unknown combination woods, but since all are active... this is less of a problem. However, I think the bass HAS to work passively as well, and by that I mean it should great passive and not HAVE to rely of the Elecs 'saving' it..which it probably wont 100% IMO.
I didn't order one but the experience of owning a Sei was pretty amazing. To play and hold it just felt really special. Can't put my finger on it
18. Like the title says. How do you wash yours.? I wonder if you can machine wash the.? I'm thinking about putting it in the washing machine, but I'm not sure if the sponge will retain the water.
19. His bass playing for me is so very cool http://youtu.be/tMgvgofqFmE
20. Mono. They are superb and bomb proof. I have a Mono M80 and would throw my bass on the floor with it and not be worried. I would prefer an SKB hard case in a van though. The best case I've ever had is the Sadowsky hard soft case. Awsome peice of design.
21. That MTD for sure. There was a Pensa 5 string for sale. Wow. The F Clef is superb. There was a Bernie Good fellow for sale in maple quilt. That was superb. I think Chris Horton was selling it .. probably wrong on that.
22. One of my favourite bass players. I remember the first time I heard hiss album Low Blow. Awsome playing. I really hope he's better soon.
23. What an odd selection of instruments. They only do Bass Collection and NS.? Or am I missing something. ? Love the Blockhead mind.
