1. I use a really simple app called loopz. I just plug my phone in and I have lots of time sig,s styles, tempo,s etc. Very easy very simple. Wish it was more extensive mind. The best thing for me is YouTube backing tracks. It's great chord change practice.
2. These look and sound really nice. Like a cross between an Ibanez BTB and an MTD. They sound awsome.Shame it has Marcus Miller in big letters on the headstock.Although he's up there with my favourite bass players, I really don't want his name all over a bass I'm playing. http://youtu.be/2PXpzG5SLTc You know the drill if the soaps aren't up to it put in sone Nordy Fat Stacks and an Aguilar pre. Love the flame maple. Now that sh*t turns it up.
3. I think Xotic make a very good argument to buy there jazz basses over others .Amazingly versatile, Not massively expensive, especially second hand. Supreme Jazz basses. They will be my next Jazz bass.
4. Get all my bass gear in this. Bass, 2 cabs, bags etc. Still got room for a passenger. It's a rocket as well. Nissan Micra 160 sr. Love this little car.
5.
Ah! Is that advice from DR?
Yeah if you look inside the packet they advise it.
6. There is a balance to be had, as is, in the rest of life as a whole. I would favour the bigger perpercentage in music.
7. Seen various adverts for basses wanted etc. Always makes me laugh. Oh must be between 20 to 30, must play a black pbass, must not wear trainers, must have a stylish haircut. Etc etc, Blah blah. The sort of band I would never be interested in. Where's the, must be able read chord charts, must have good musical communication skills, etc etc. Rant over.
8. It's a strange one. I do get paid to play bass. But even if I didn't I would consider myself a musician.it's just the way that I think.
9. I'm aware I've posted this before but someone had this live Donny album on at his house. First off Doñny has the best voice of any singer ever imo. And Willie Weeks,s bass playing on that p bass is just sublime. He must have been very aware of J Jamersons playing . very musical. http://youtu.be/YLUh70zp0LE
10. 675 for a Zoot Jazz bass?? That right there is a bargain.!
11. Marcus played on a huge amount of records and you wouldn't know it was him. He really was/is a great session musician. He doesn't always sound like Marcus. Very adaptable bass player.
12. What does that sticker on the back of the headstock say. This is a non export 75 I guess. ?
13. I've never owned one but my sisters husband owns an early 80,s sunburst JV P and it is killer. So much punch. The slap tone is amazing.
14.
If you only want it for recording Youtube demos that seems overkill. Do you need to record more than a couple of tracks, say a bass and a mic?
I would maybe want it have more options in the near future. My research will continue.
15. Great video Michael. Really enjoyed your explanation and enthusiasm. My Elwood 5 is fantastic. . Everything about it is good. With the Bartolini,s it's just epic.
16. I'm thinking of this. Or maybe something cheaper. http://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/Focusrite-Saffire-Pro-24-Firewire-and-Thunderbolt-Audio-Interface/B6Q
17. Ok thanks BbRX. so would I better off getting a firewire or thunderbolt.? Also do all these interfaces have there own comparable DAW,s.?
18. Two of my musical heroes. The lendary Omar on Vocals and bass and Stevie playing the guitar synth, keys and vocals at the end. http://youtu.be/iFDn0kJ_6V4
19.
The problem with USB on the Mac is that the bus structure is quite convoluted, so that your USB interface may be sharing the bus with other devices without you knowing it. And just because you have multiple USB ports doesn't mean that they are separate buses. From the photo it looks as though you have the same MacBook Pro as me - (13" Mid 2012). Looking at the bus structure in the System Profile there are 2 separate USB buses - but one already has the keyboard, trackpad, IR receiver and Bluetooth controller attached to it, and the other has the built-in FaceTime camera. Also despite the fact that the Mac supports USB3 on one of the buses, this is ultimately connected via an internal USB hub to one of the main USB2 buses, so despite supporting the USB3 protocol the speed will be throttled back to USB2. And every other USB peripheral that you add will be competing for USB2 bandwidth. That's why FireWire and Thunderbolt are always better options on the Mac.
Ok BRX i know about music theory and bass guitar but that just went totally over my head.
