1. Im more confused at to wether they are the old Marcus Miller strings. why so cheap a price. I'm aware there are a lot of fakes out there. I can't return them if i have strung them on to a bass surely.?
2. I was given a £30 amazon voucher and want to buy my favourite string. Does Marcus Miller still have his name to these.? this seems very cheap for a 5 string set of DR's. The reviews are going on about Nickel strings.? Fat Beams are steel with a round core. Can anyone point me in the right direction with Amazon. Ive always used DR Marcus Miller fats, but I'm confused by amazon. http://www.amazon.co...t+beam+5+string others want £40+ with £8 + postage which is in the realm of what i expect to pay. Does anyone buy strings from amazon.? Ive looked on DR's website and it seems MM is no longer endorsing these.?
3. Good to see Pete back again also.
4. Guys on upright were using the technique to a lesser extent, for a percussive feel way before Louis J or Larry.
5.
I'd rather watch Nick watching Bubinga's cat having a 5hit.
id rather watch Rich watching Nick watching my cat have a sh*t. That would take time to organise. take from that my dislike.

8.
Eric cancelled his Milwaukee Show at Shank Hall last year. I was pissed off. Blue
Love his playing Blue. He's no Norman Brown though.
9. What a fantastic bass player and what a great guitar player. What a groove. Both upside-down players. They work together amazingly well. Dwayne's bass playing is just off the wall.
10. That flame maple neck is quite something.!!!
11.
Define 'jazz'.
Would love to see anyone answer that one.
12. Ok you deserve everything you get, if you ever do this nonsense on stage. but use strap locks. Don't let this happen to you.!!
13.
Try recording yourself playing to a drum track or metronome, even if its using something basic like a phone voice recording app, that will show up errors that you might not be concious of while actually playing. To some extent though consistent timing requires a certain amount of raw hours on fingerboard so be patient.
This. Its easy to get complacent and not hear where your timing might be off. its easy to do when your concentrating on the physical aspects of playing. I went to art school for 4 years, used to draw paint etc, and technically, the best lesson i learned was to look at what you have drawn/painted in a mirror. Its a great way to refresh what you have been looking at for so long. Ok its not the best example/explanation, but i think its similar to listening to yourself recorded. You see/hear where you might be going wrong. A fresh perspective is what I'm getting at. it really does work. Well thats my experience.
14. This is a floor filler i used to play with an old band. Its the long intro that teases them. Fabulous record.! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuavOt7RwCA
15. Love the Cloudburst. But those cats paw inlays are just great.!
16. Love it. Love his slap playing. He never over plays. great record
17.
No, all of the Outrun music was written by a chap called Yu Suzuki who was part of the Sega house band (seriously) I reckon he was a Stevie fan though - the track from 8.30 has a Stevie pop/fusion quality, albeit trapped in a Spectrum...
good god, the musical stuff you guys know.!!!??
18.
actually Marcus uses his own engineer not the festivals as does Tony Momrelle they don't rehearse in the space before the gig (its not practical in reality they don't even get a soundcheck in a festival situation) to be honest the artists on stage have absolutely no control over the mix thats why they bring their own engineers with them people they trust to mix the gig well rather than the in house engineer who's seen a lot of different artists over a few days
Like i said WTF do i know I'm just a bass player
19. Well to change the tempo and feel somewhat, this is just so very great. i love the lyrics " we can stroll the mezzanine, buy some dirty magazines" only Prince could/would sing that. imo just a fantastic piece of music. amazing guitar playing.. his harmonies sung by just him are amazing. he was way out there, a genius.. listen to what he left us. 20.
one of my best friends and colleagues at my venue doing FOH for Tony Momrelle at Cheltnam be interested to know your thoughts on the mix
I thought Julians bass could have been more out punchy, but I'm bias. but its such a huge tent. me and my sister were sat off to there right. trying to pin down certain acoustics in that size a venue, is like trying to find a hamster in woodnorton. apart from that, the engineers are so used to mixing for great artists. Last year was Marcus Miller. he wouldn't put up with a bad mix imo. obviously rehearsals in that space, he would have picked up on any bad sounds. WTF do i know about room acoustics. not a lot. but my ears tell me there is too much air for the noise to flow around.
